The Summer House is delightfully situated on the edge of the communal swimming pool, on the terrace directly outside your door there is a stone seat with upholstered cushions and a small table for Al fresco dining. To the right of the Summer House there is a Morrocan corner, with comfortable chairs, beneath a shaded white mulberry tree. The Summer House is on a self catering basis, with maid service 6 days a week. Yazade also is home to No 14's Bistro this is set up around the pool from 6pm, 6 days a week in the summer months. No 14's is a romantic candle lit venue so won't disturb you as guests in the studio.
my husband and I opened the efendi house restaurant with rooms previously, and then purchased and old village house closeby, which my husband who has been a builder for many years in the UK, extended and restored, which is now Yazade House.
Kay Hewson-Morgan purchased this bungalow in 2003
We fell in love with the walled garden, and hopefully we have created something special in Yazade House.
Living in the old turkish quarter we are in the real cyprus, living amongst turkish cypriots, and not in an enclave of modern villas, mostly inhabited by ex pats.
What a beautiful and relaxing haven you have cleverly created hidden right in the centre of the lovely Turkish Quarter. Visually stunning and perfectly situated to enjoy all that Kyrenia has to offer on foot. Breakfast sitting outside our dear little summer house every morning was an absolute delight. Thank you, we will always remember our lovely holiday at Yazade!
having spent the past few years holidaying in Turkey where the hosts couldn't care less about our stay, it was such a relief to feel valued by Kay and Cliff. From our first e mail to book and subsequent correspondence they couldn't have been more helpful.
We were picked up by Kay's driver at Larnaca airport and arrived at Yazade house @ 7am. Kay was there to welcome us with a smile and a cup of tea.
The studio certainly lived up to expectations, with all mod cons and beautifully decorated. The setting is stunning, a real oasis away from the heat and noise of the town with lovely shaded seating areas and the gorgeous swimming pool which we used daily .
Kay and Cliff and Yazade house made this a truly relaxing and enjoyable holiday and we will definitely be back. The added bonus was in our opinion the 5 star restaurant that was set up around the pool from Monday to Saturday. We ate there 3 times and would highly recommend it , delicious food in a stunning setting with the added bonus of people watching the other diners from our terrace
This was stunning, even better than I thought it would be (and I already had high expectations from the photo's!). It sits in a very good location within the old town of Kyrenia with the harbour and the town in 5 minute walking distance. There's plenty to see and do whilst staying in Northern Cyprus and Kay and Cliff are extremely helpful with anything you want to know. If you want a really authentic feel for Kyrenia and Northern Cyprus I would stay here. Kay and Cliff also run a small restaurant with some tables around their pool, all lit by candle light at night which serves as a really nice atmosphere in the evenings. The restaurant isn't noisey at all so don't worry about this. The Yazade House is so picturesque, it was so lovely.
Kay helped us arrange car rental whilst we were there, and also suggested restaurants to go to that were local.
I couldn't have asked for anything more and would love to go back again.
my wife and I have just had a superb two week stay in the studio at yazade house. We stayed for two weeks in july last year, but this year was possibly better. The summer house is ideal for two people with all the facilities needed yet very stylish. Yazade itself is very peaceful and pretty with a good swimming pool. Kay, Cliff and their staff cant do enough for guests in the apartments or in the restaurant, they now feel like our friends. The food and Cliffs wines in the restaurant are excellent and well worth a go. There is a bakery and small shop next to yazade and the local people are very friendly, while it is a short walk to the town and harbour. All in all I would recommend a stay at yazade as long as my booking isn't affected.
My husband and I stayed in the Studio at Yazade House for a week in April and had a lovely time. We were blown away by the beauty of the entire house and grounds on arrival and felt like we'd ventured upon something pretty special as we drove through the old streets of Kyrenia to eventually come across the gorgeous courtyard- we couldn't believe our luck!
The studio is small - as you would expect, but absolutely perfect for 2 people to holiday comfortably. We ate out every night, including once at the Yazade House restaurant itself - which is highly recommended. The studio does have simple catering facilities and we made ourselves lunch there most days. The bathroom has everything you need and everywhere is clean and tidy, with maid service 6 days per week. The bed was comfy and the only 'distraction' was the call to prayer, which surprised us on the first day but soon became a familiar and relaxing sound. The owners, Kay and Cliff were really communicative before and during our stay and welcomed us with open arms, nothing was too much trouble for them; they organised our car hire and our taxi back to the airport, as well as giving us local recommendations for places to eat and visit. We had such a lovely time that I even went back in November for a couple of days of R&R and again, had a super time. Cannot recommend this place highly enough if you are looking for a peaceful retreat with gorgeous swimming pool and 10 minute walk to the town and harbour.
I don't normally write reviews but felt I must to address some of the comments made by the previous reviewer. We stayed at Yazade House from 22nd September 2011 for 10 days.
We are independent travellers and we like our privacy and we normally try to avoid British hosts after a rather ghastly experience in Italy. So, here is my honest and objective review:
Cliff and Kay were delightful and gracious hosts and did their utmost to make us welcome and comfortable and respect our privacy. Kay stayed up well after midnight to welcome us when we arrived and even let us use their private accommodation for the last evening as we had night flights both ways.
The room is compact but well thought out and equipped, as is obvious from the photos which give a true impression. The bathroom is not huge but perfectly adequate with a nice big shower which enjoys good water pressure and plenty of hot water, both of which are more important to me.
I heard the water pump too, having worked out what it was I just turned it off overnight. Problem solved! And yes there is a Mosque nearby, I noticed the call to prayer on the first morning and not really after that. In any case, it's part of the local environment - like church bells in England on a Sunday morning.
There is a restaurant and on busy nights the tables can be close to the Summer House; Cliff and Kay and their staff always tried to minimise any intrusion and we rather enjoyed sitting on our terrace (often with a complimentary drink!) and people watching. We go to bed quite early, about 10 p.m., and I can honestly say that we were not disturbed by noise from the restaurant at all, in any case most diners did not seem to stay very late.
The only thing I would add is that if you hire a car, parking locally can be difficult as it is a residential area with narrow streets.
The Summer House at Yazade is ideally situated in the residential area of the old Turkish quarter, just minutes walk from the town and the picturesque Kyrenia harbour. Just seconds away, the local baker produces excellent bread readily available for those wonderful breakfast times on your private terrace.
Other Activities: parachuting, flying, paintball, golf range international go cart circuit.
