Winter Wonderful !

Being a south Texas girl, she had never spent any "living" time in a snow and cold environment.
She had briefly seen snow at ski areas and while traveling, but never any day after day real life experience.
The question arose."why would anybody ever live in weather like that?"
I went to VRBO, found this house and said, "let's find out!"
After the first week, she is sincerely looking for a house just like this, in the same area, to BUY!
As you can see from the pictures, the house is well decorated and outfitted to be a comfortable place, but what you can't see, is the special feeling you get while you are in it.
The place is a sanctuary for dozens of bird species, foxes, Chickarees, and more. Most importantly it was a sanctuary for us; within 24 hours of our arrival.
The gracious owners supply the feed for the friends of the forest, and we had a never ending joyful time, feeding, watching, laughing at these special constant visitors.
We were hoping to have some fresh snow, even brought plenty of groceries, in case we were snowed in for a day or two, and to our good fortune, we were.
What a perfect day: on with the snow shoes, out to the lake, up the hill, and around the area, even got to see a real "white out", and more snow than she had ever seen in all her life.
The next day the roads were open down the mountain to Idaho Springs, but we decided to stay "at home", and go up to the glacier. Make it 2 days in a row that we have the most wonderful of memories; memories we have re enjoyed dozens of times since we came back from this very special place.
And that was the way it went for our whole experience, drove up to the 15 foot snows on Loveland pass, twice to Breckenridge, to eat late lunch at Giampietros, creative little restaurant.
Last 3 days our 21 year old daughter and her boyfriend, after hearing so much from us, came from Texas, to be part of the joy.
And just like us, they found it!
The owners have created this place to suit themselves and others who appreciate the meaning of words like:
cozy, nature, warm, loving, beauty, gentle adventure, contentment.
We have had many satisfying experiences exploring life, none that surpass this.

Owner's Response: Dear Carl and Laurie - It was great to meet you, and thrilled you had the Rocky Mountain adventure you were hoping for. And thanks ever so much for sending the photos - the one of the chickaree and the Crossbill are especially terrific and will find their way onto my blog very soon. You are truly a gifted photographer, and you have definitely inspired me to go camera shopping and hone my skills!
