About The Owner

When I purchased my house in Bozeman, it was our Summer home. I bought it for the fantastic views and the solitude of being at the 'end of the road' overlooking the rest of the world. After living here full time since 2005, I decided to turn my 'caretaker cottage' into a guest house so that others could share this special spot. When the first airplanes flew over this site, it was covered in tepee circles as the native Americans camped here because of the abundance of wildlife and the fact that they could see for miles in every direction, providing safety for the camps.

The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 2001
Why The Owner chose Bozeman

This property is home to two rescued horses, three rescued cats and two much-loved English labradors.

Comfortable Home away from Home

5 of 5
Submitted: October 18, 2012 Stayed: October 2012
Patty was very responsive from my first inquiry & even worked with us when I had to change our dates about a month before arrival. The house was just as described...very comfortable, beautifully decorated & had everything we needed for making dinner or just relaxing. There were several areas to sit outside & enjoy the scenery especially the night sky when stars were everywhere. Periodic visits from Boze Man & Daisy were very welcome & we fed horses Lizzy & Keith some carrots or apples each day. Keith tends to push Lizzy out but they are both very friendly & love a snack!
The house (I think it is technically in Gallatin Gateway) is about a 25 minute drive to Bozeman which has a wonderful downtown area with shops and restaurants. We had dinner at Plonk one evening (great wine and cocktail selections) and Ted's Montana Grill and stopped for coffee a couple times at the Leaf and Bean. Many shop owners bring their dogs to work so if you are animal lovers like we are, it will be a nice treat. The Museum of the Rockies is worth a look although the planetarium is currently under renovation and won't open again until next year. We enjoyed the Montana Grizzly encounter off Rte 90. One of the owners was out the entire time talking about bear safety, history of the bears that live there & differences between the black, grizzly and polar bears. Admission is good for 2 consecutive days so we took advantage of that. If you're looking for a grocery, try Rosauers. They have everything you need & don't require a reward card to get the sale prices.
Closer to the house in Gallatin Gateway we hit Stacey's Steakhouse for dinner. Definite locals hang out with bar attached. The parking lot was always full especially on the weekend when there is a band playing. Steaks were great as were the rocky mountain oysters. I wasn't adventurous enough to try them but hubby did. Also recommend The Coffee Pot; great bakery & locally made pottery for sale.
Yellowstone is a straight shot south on Rte 85 about 80. Beautiful drive. On the way, we ate breakfast at The Corral at mile marker 44. It's a restaurant, bar and motel. One of the shop owners recommended it to us and he was right. Good homemade corned beef hash and yummy french toast and bacon. We spent several hrs in the park & saw wild Bison & lots of geysers including Old Faithful.
Overall excellent vacation, I'd stay at "I LOVE THIS PLACE" again and recommend it highly.

Fantastic Vacation Spot!

My wife, two daughters and I were fortunate enough to spend a few days here and absolutely loved it. The views are magnificent and the house is well appointed. My girls loved feeding the horses and playing with Daisy, the yellow lab who often came to visit. We would certainly recommend this place to anyone, particularly those traveling with kids, as a great alternative to staying in town. Close enough to Bozeman to shop and get provisions, far enough way to be truly peaceful and relaxing. Thanks Patti and Meredith, we hope to come back soon.

Great Place to Stay

Submitted: June 18, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
We hadn't been in vacation for quite a few years so the pressure was high to find a place we could relax and also do quite a bit of walking and hiking. I Love This Place was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. The place felt like home to us. We could drive around and hike for a few hours come back relax and then walk with Teddy, our dog, on the roads right by the house. We rarely saw anyone, however when we did they slowed down, moved way over and waved. The people we met were very friendly. If you are looking to get away, hike and relax this is the place to be.

Loved this place so much we moved West

5 of 5
Submitted: June 12, 2012 Stayed: February 2012
'I Love This Place' has been a very special home away from home for our family. The first time we stayed here (two years ago), we stumbled upon the VRBO site while driving to Bozeman and looking for a place for our family to stay. We called Patty, stopped by to see the 'Guest House', and instantly knew it was perfect! Our one week stay was extended to ten days, and that wasn't long enough to enjoy this spectacular place! For two years we talked about our stay in Bozeman, and how much we loved this place. This past spring we rented 'I Love this Place' for two months. Again, we felt right at home. Patty and Meredith made us feel like we have been neighbors for years. The kids took care of the horses and developed a love for these beautiful animals. We were also able to have our loving Newfy with us and adopt a new puppy for our daughter. The house is charming, clean, comfortable, and has everything one would need plus more. The setting is private, with spectacular views in every direction. These two months we spent at 'I Love this Place' confirmed our idea to relocate our family and move West. We even purchased property in the Valley not too far from the Guest House. We hope to stay here one more time in the fall while our new home is being completed. Then, we would like to have Patty and Meredith to our home as guests and reminisce about how our time spent at 'I Love this Place' was such a special place for our family and all the wonderful memories we have of our stays. We would recommend the Guest House for any length of stay. It is a perfect place to call 'home'!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Corrine and Jim for your delightful guest review. It is greatly appreciated. We look forward to your return in the fall when you'll start building your own piece of heaven.
