Friends and family say we lead a 'charmed life' ... we certainly have had an unusual and adventurous one! You can read about some of it on the Innkeepers page of our website at http://www.ilovethelodge.com/innkeepers/index.php
Cathi, aka The 'Lodge Lady' at her inn, is definitely a landlubber! Writing as 'The Mountain Farmgirl' for MaryJanes Farm, she is a forest-mountain-and waterfall person through and through. Dana, on the other hand, is an old salt with the sea in his veins, and needed to have a place on the coast of Maine to retire to, and from which he could sail in his sailboat. The result was a piece of heaven called Sunset Cove Cottage.
Between their inn in the White Mountains of NH and the cottage in Harpswell, Maine, it is truly the best of both worlds. Cathi has come to love it almost as much as Dana as 'Their Adventures Continue ...'
There is something truly energizing about the sea. The salt air is health-giving, life is 'real', and the people who have inhabited this coast are rugged, independent and self-reliant. Being only 10 minutes from Bowdoin College, founded in the late 1700s is incredible. The very old New England feel to this town, the intellectual pursuits to be had here, and the art and culture which are so abundant, make it truly an ideal location. Add to this the fact that Portland, Maine (voted the 'Most Livable Small City in America' 3 times in a row) is less than 30 minutes away, and the setting is absolutely perfect! Ocean life is very engaging. It is here, with the tides in constant ebb and flow, that one notices that life is in continual change; nothing ever stays exactly the same!
