Overview

Moab House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8)

This luxurious Moab Hideaway, just 15 miles southeast of Moab, offers complete privacy with stunning views of snow-capped mountains, red rock, and green pasture---red rocks views from the entry porch, green pasture off the front porch and 12,482' Mt. Tukuhnikivatz off the back porch. Perfect recreation location with Arches and Canyonlands National Parks a short drive away, and rafting, hiking, mountain biking and a host of other activities nearby. Superb views of the Moab Rim and nearby La Sal Mountains and their more-than-12,000-foot peaks abound on this amazing property. This log and stone residence is situated on 1.5 acres on a hillside overlooking the Pack Creek Ranch. Enveloped by native pinion, juniper and sage, flooding the 3,344 square foot interior with the aroma of the southwestern desert, you will enjoy a superior resort experience at this elegant and comfortable retreat.

The home has in-floor radiant heating as well as Mitsubishi air conditioning and heating, lovely flagstone floors, stereo-system with Sonos amp and built-in speakers in several rooms. The lower level includes a family room with fireplace, a wet bar, and a walkout to a patio, perfect for an evening of entertaining or unwinding after a day of activity. A separate game room with piano and ping-pong table is located on the lower level for hours of recreation.

The main-level master suite has a vaulted log ceiling, French doors, a walkout to the south-side patio, and a heavenly king bed. The second bedroom doubles as an office with a Pottery Barn Deluxe queen sofa bed. The lower-level bedroom with queen bed has access to the fresh desert air through the French door that opens to a patio.

Flagstone patios on the north, south and west gird the home, and a beautiful wood deck extends from the north side of the living room. A detached oversized garage houses bicycles, inflatable kayak and hiking gear, which is available for your use during your stay. We cannot accept bookings for travelers with trailers.

About Robert Thompson

We built this home in 1992 and only the best craftsmen worked on our home in the Pack Creek Ranch enclave. We designed the home with patios or decks on three sides because the home is at the base of the La Sal mountains, nestled among the Pinyon-Junipers with superb views in every direction.  We love coming here to hike, canoe, bicycle and just relax -- we hope you do too!  Guy and Jeanine

fantastic house and surrounds

  • 5 of 5

Moab Hideaway is a beautiful log home with top of the line furnishings and fixtures that served our two couples splendidly. Fold out beds in two other rooms separate from the main living section mean that the house could comfortably serve a larger group. It's location is private and scenic with snow capped mountains in one direction and the town of Moab in the fault line between canyons and parks visible below us and 15-20 mins drive in the other direction. The environs of the La Sal mountains, Arches National Park, Canyonlands and all the spectacular scenery in between that is not part of the national park system is truly spectacular and May was a wonderful time to be there due to mild temperatures and wildflower blossoms perfuming the air. We hope to return. We hiked, biked, kayaked and SUPed on the Colorado River. Our 6 night stay was too short!

Great place, 14 mi from Moab

  • 5 of 5

This a great place, spacious, very well appointed, easily accommodates six. We took it because we wanted to shoot night sky pics with minimum light pollution. And that worked well.

But be aware that it is about 22 min (14 mi) away from Moab along the Lasal Loop Road. We came middle of April, but on the first day we had snow fall, and the access is via a 1 mi dirt road. We had no problem because we had 4-wheel drive. But in case you need a snow plow, you have to pay $150 for the privilege to access the house.

If you like a remote location and don't mind the access risk between November and April, this is a perfect place.

Beautiful and Relaxing Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family loved our stay at the Moab Hideaway! The house felt extremely comfortable and had everything we needed and wanted. We really appreciated how quickly the owners resolved a minor question we had, their immediate and thorough customer service was much appreciated. I would recommend this house to anyone who enjoys quiet time outside of the busy town after a fun day of sightseeing. The short drive to this lovely home is well worth it!

Moab Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful place inside and out, in a peaceful location. Great place for a quiet retreat with family and friends, but still a short drive to Moab, Arches and Canyon Land. There is a good variety of books to read and Cd's to listen to and games to play! The TV was never turned on, which is rare for our grand kids!

Spectacular!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this property. Moab is an amazing locale for lovers of redrock....totally amazing encounters at Arches, Canyon Lands, the Lasal Mountains and throughout the area. This home, which is perfectly located in the foothills of the Lasals, adds an true western experience to the redrock country. The home is hand crafted from beautiful local woods and rock, and is situated overlooking the a lovely valley and the Lasals beyond. It offers a large eating and social area on the main floor with views from three sides, a very generous master bedroom, again with endless views, a large bathroom and an office/bedroom. The floor below adds more sleeping space plus a huge family room and recreation area. Really, the house just keeps on going. It is totally comfortable, well outfitted, and makes for easy and relaxing accommodation after a long day exploring the surrounding country. There is nothing like it or equal to it in the Moab area. The only problem is that its so comfortable its hard to put on the hiking boots in the morning and actually walk out the door. A super home...

Wonderful stay at a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best rental home experiences that we have had. When we walked into the house, my kids said -- "hey - this is just like our house." It did not feel like a rental and the owners leave all their nice belonging out in the house for guests to use.

There are 2 permanent bedrooms and the other rooms have pullout couches. One is in a beautiful office with 2 walls of windows. It is perfect for 2 couples with kids.

We would love to stay here again next year.
