The Grand Suite at Onomea
The Grand Suite is the main house and largest of three dwellings on our five acre, country refuge. It is approximately 2200 SF of living space plus a screened lanai, a second story lanai and an open dining patio. It's many large windows frame lovely tropical views and an ocean blue horizon. The two upstairs bedrooms sleep up to six: two in a queen bed; two in a full bed; one in each of two twin sized beds; The bedrooms share a covered lanai with views of the ocean a half mile away. The newly renovated bathroom has hand-cut stone tile from Indonesia and a luxury soaking tub/shower. The living room has 20 foot ceilings and a wall of windows. It's a bright and spacious place to curl up and enjoy a book or a movie. Many guests spend lots of time just enjoying the house and surroundings. The full sized, fully equipped kitchen is it's own unique space with a breakfast nook and an adjoining formal dining room. The antique dining table extends out for larger families. You can also dine on the covered patio complete with barbecue and outdoor fireplace. The walk down our road to Onomea Bay is one of the lovliest in all of Hawaii.
Our country retreat is comprised of three separate and private dwellings on five landscaped acres. The three dwellings are adjoined by covered breezeways, each entirely private from one another. My wife and I live in the 'master cottage'. We can provide you with touring guidance, directions, dining suggestions and of course just help out if you need an extra pillow or blanket.
If you need accommodations for more than 6, the Garden Suite at Onomea is a smaller cottage rental (see HomeAway Property # 371622) The two accommodations can be rented together by special arrangement. Together, the main house and the suite sleep up to 9.
The Grand Suite at Onomea is best suited to 4 adults, 2 couples, or families up to 6 with younger children. There are several photo angles of the bedrooms but please note that there are just the two bedrooms and the one full bath upstairs plus a half bath downstairs (not included in photos).

Together we have many stories to tell... about location scouting for film and Tv, performing in Tv and theater, photo assignments, llama farming, life in New York City, LA, Montana, growing up in the territory of Hawaii, the band, our kids. If you come and see us and care to share some stories....as we say in Hawaii... we can Talk Story together.
This is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in all of Hawaii. It is gorgeous here, and we'd love to share it with you.
Our place is peaceful... We are on the rainier side of Hawaii. It's never particularly hot here, never cold, though it might get chilly enough to grab a cotton sweater or flannel shirt early in the morning. The air is soft and full of the smell of flowers. The rivers and waterfalls speak to the rain, the rain responds and the birds and crickets and tree frogs provide the chorus of life all around.
Our home is on 5 acres, 6 miles north of Hilo and is a great 'base' for touring the attractions of the Big Island...... Volcano National Park, oh, so many waterfalls!, gorgeous Waipio Valley, old Hawaii villages, the international astronomy telescopes atop Mauna Kea, helicopter tours, the famous Hilo Farmers Market, ziplining, birdwatching, hiking, fishing, snorkeling, beach parks... The Big Island is very varied! Or.... Stay right here, at home in paradise; kick back, make a few Mai Tais and play croquet in the yard beneath enormous Monkeypod trees.
