We are now semi-retired after demanding careers in special education and senior management in the NHS. We love living in a quiet part of Belsize Park, North London, with its easy access the the West End, theatres, cinemas and art galleries and the wealth of events on in London. We are members of The Tate, The National Gallery, Kew Gardens, The Art Fund and The National Trust and we enjoy South Bank festivals, Open House Weekend, Open Squares Weekend and open gardens days. We walk in London's parks, along the river and the canals and we are avid readers. Jack is the art and musical mentor to Hilary who is the practical DIYer in the family.

Hilary or Jack Robertson purchased this farmhouse in 1988

Fell in love with it Very peaceful and relaxing yet near to so many delightful places to visit, to eat, see art and architecture, shop, enjoy museums, festivals and cultural events, walk and take boat trips play tennis and so much more

We fell in love with the unique ambiance. This we have retained and the house is now extremely well equipped and furnished as a family home. So has a very personal feel while maintaining the sense of history and place.

Breathtakingly beautiful

  • 5 of 5
We were SO pleased to have chosen this property - having stayed in many holiday homes this far exceeded the description of 'holiday home' - it was a true home, loving created by the owners and photographs do not do the property justice. It was peaceful and rejuvenating; one week is simply NOT enough time to experience all the region has to offer. Beautifully furnished by the owners, it has wonderful libraries of books, maps, CDs and DVDs and is suitable for ALL agegroups. The kitchen is superbly equipped for people who love to cook and there is a wonderful brick barbeque in the garden. The garden has to be seen to be believed.
Strongly recommended, but do stay longer than one week!

A great choice...

  • 5 of 5
This property was beyond expectation, which was high from having viewed the photos online. The house and garden are extremely attractive and the owners have thoughtfully furnished the house, which is faultless. A beautiful pool, totally private, will probably distract you from the sight seeing but no need to feel too guilty. So, I suggest you stop looking at other properties and book this one! Thorougly recommended.

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5
Over the past 10 years my family and I have stayed in various holiday homes throughout France and Italy, and I always do my best to try and find homes that offer tranquility and peace but are not located too far from all the places of interest. Vasciano Nove is by far the best holiday home we have ever rented - it is beautifully set in nature and is perfect for those looking for peace and tranquility in a romantic setting. The wonderful pool with panamoric views over the neighbouring hilltops is the cherry on the cake. A five star location!

A Heavenly place

  • 5 of 5
Vasciano is indeed a bit of heaven on earth. The comfortable, well equipped and maintained house is set in a georgeous garden on a hill top with panaramic views. You can spend days relaxing at home by the pool or you can drive through stunning scenery to the picturesque towns of the area. One cannot believe how beautiful these towns are with their historic churches and art galleries where once can see frescos by artists such as Giotto, Piero della Francesca, and Signorelli to name but a few. It's also pleasant to just visit the towns, wander through the streets, have a drink in the main square or dine in an excellent Italian restaurant. Unfortunately I can't remember the names of the restaurants where we dined but there excellent ones in every town we visited.

Yes, there is something for everyone at Visciano. You can relax at home by the beautiful pool set in the lovely garden or seek adventure in the surrounding area. If you're looking for a homeaway holiday in Italy, don't miss Visciano. It's heaven. I hope to return some day.

Perfect Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5
The house, location, garden and pool were excellent.
It far exceeded our expectations having only seen pictures and desciption on the net.
During our 3 weeks stay we were visited by family with children 3 and 7 years old and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their stay and not least the beautiful and well kept pool.
We all would love to come back for another visit.

Total beauty and relaxation

  • 5 of 5
We spent the most AMAZING week in Vasciano!

The house is beautifully kitted out and in very good taste, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything and more of what we needed etc. There were so many books on Italy, Umbria and Tuscany I needen't have bought some.

And the garden is glorious, with many of places to escape to and great landscaping. The view from the garden is so peaceful and relaxing, even my husband relaxed and that's saying something!
The pool was perfect for all, including our two chidren who spent most of their time playing on the steps which made them and us feel safe.

We spotted deer and fox on our walk to the Sasso San Donino, and a small bat in the chapel itself. So cute!

I can recommend Vasciano to anybody wishing to spend time in a small corner of heaven.

And if you get bored of heaven do head off to Siena and Cortona which will provide you with enough entertainment, retail therapy and restaurants to last you a while.

We certainly hope to be back.

Vasciano Nove is one of a group of old stone farmhouses dotted over the hillside above the beautiful agricultural Niccone valley with its scattered small villages and farms. Mercatale 10 mins, away is a small, relaxed non-touristy village with supermarkets, bakery, bars and restaurant. The house is within easy reach of many interesting medieval towns and villages with a wealth of restaurants, art and architecture , markets and festivals . Many local physical activities, beautiful walking and biking in mountainous country . Boat trips on Lake Trasimeno to its islands (one a nature reserve) and beaches . Piero della Francesca frescos, St Francis of Assisi retreats and Etruscan sites will be of special interest to some people. Nature lovers will find interesting but shy wild life and flora. Cooks will be stimulated by local produce and artists will find it hard to decide what to paint frst : maybe the view of the 13C church. Private, salt system pool, in delightful garden

Other Activities: wine tasting, fashion outlets, festival, markets, cookery classes, painiting, sulpher springs

Golf: There is a golf course (which hires clubs) about 1 hr from the house.
