La Maison Dumas (circa 1757) is an officially registered 4 star tourist residence and proud member of CITQ (Corporation de l’industrie touristique du Quebec). This elegant, 1,200 sf, one bedroom tourist apartment is situated on the first floor of a stone heritage home classified as one of the oldest homes in Old Montreal.

Just a minutes walk to the Old Port, shopping and restaurants, experience true old-world charm with hand-hewn beams, pinewood flooring and exposed stone masonry along side the modern conveniences that discriminating travelers demand.

For ultimate comfort and privacy, the main living areas have been divided into a den and living room.

As is all the property, the living room is professionally decorated with only the highest quality furnishings including: plush down sofa, mahogany entertainment center, captains’ club chairs, original artwork and marble coffee table. A cozy gas fireplace adds charm and ambiance. Watch your favorite programs on a 52” plasma TV. Cable television, including many of the most popular channels like HBO and The Movie Network are provided in both French and English. There is also a DVD/BlueRay player with numerous DVD's for your entertainment. Also included is a stereo system and many CD's are provided.

At the opposite end of the apartment is a den complete with: large working desk, comfy Louis XVII reading chair and unlimited WiFi access. The large sofa has a comfortable queen-size mattress for additional guests or children occupying the apartment.

Next to the den, a 19th century French walnut dining table accommodates five people. Whether you plan an elegant dinner at home or just a quick bite before going out for the day, La Maison Dumas has everything you need to create the right ambiance. The kitchen has been fully refurbished and is well equipped including: concrete countertops, (5) appliances, microwave, cappuccino machine and much more!

The bedroom has a comfortable, pillow top queen-size bed complete with fluffy European down comforter and pillows to make your sleep luxurious.

The bathroom is outfitted with heated marble floors and custom shower. We also provide plush towels, crisp white linens, hair dryer and a private washer/dryer.?

Well located in the Old Port, La Maison Dumas is a short walk to Montreal's major attractions such as: the Montreal Grand Prix, Montreal Jazz Festival, Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, year round international fireworks displays, free concerts and the Underground City.??

Metro (subway) service or bus service is within a five minute walk. Easy access to La Ronde Amusement Park, Casino de Montreal, Biodome, Science Museum, IMAX Cinema and Mont Royal Park is available. About The Owner

While every subsequent owner of La Maison Dumas has left their impression on the house, extensive renovations by the current owners allowed them to open the guest apartment to the public in 1997 and resulted in the beautiful building seen today. The proprietors, Peter and Cherie Wolter, remain committed to the on-going restoration of La Maison Dumas and the revitalization of Old Montreal.

PERFECT Montreal Experience

Cherie and Peter were excellent hosts. My wife and I were greeted as soon as our taxi arrived at the front door. The electronics ( heating, AC, Cable TV, excellent Stereo system) were explained by Peter and the local restaurants, pubs, and area attractions were shared with us by Cherie.

The apartment looks like a spread from Better Homes and Gardens. Everything you might need is supplied and the furnishings are TOP quality. I am am not sure if Peter or Cherie have the interior designer background, but they did a fantastic job with decorating this historic apartment. Easily walk to the METRO, Old Montreal, the Waterfront and hundreds of excellent restaurants.

We have traveled all over the world and rented many apartments and houses. La Maison Dumas is in our top five .

You can't go wrong .

Magical !

We have just returned to Perth yesterday and we just can't stop speaking about our holiday in North America. I'm originally from the South Shore of Montreal

My wife and I were travelling with our 2 daughter's 3 and 6. The apartment at La Maison Dumas was perfect in everyway! Location, location, location!

Old Montreal is just plain Magic! We used La Maison Dumas as our base for 26 days!

The apartment is located on the lower floor of the building with a lovely lounge area that feature amongst others a beautiful gas fire place (we used it extensively!) Just a flick of the switch and the fire is done. 1 minute and the fire looks as good as a log fire. There is also a well appointed home theatre system with LCD screen. The couch is comfortable and the room just looks and feel welcoming.

.The kitchen was very well appointed. A great Nespresso coffee machine for my morning ritual. All pots and pans of great quality. Everything you need to prepare a great meal if you choose to do so as the area is packed with gastronomic as well as family restaurants at walking distance. There is a dining table that compliments the décor as well as another lounge that converts as an extra double bed " for the kids as well as adults. There is also a desk in the room that again has been chosen with taste.

The master bedroom has a very comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. And again the room is welcoming and warm. Beautiful.

The bathroom boasts a glass shower and best of all, as we were visiting in winter, a heated tile floor.
Ummm nice touch!

We felt very much at home. The owners, Cherie and Peter have done a great job in making this apartment a home away from home. The pictures really don't give it justice! They really know how to put you at ease and spent the time to show you how things work. They also give you information on your surroundings. EG: Subway station and local essentials shops.

All in all a great experience and will be going back to La Maison Dumas on our next trip to Montreal.

PS: We rented a car and Peter sorted out parking for us at a reasonable price in a local restaurant's parking lot.

La Maison Dumas... simply beautiful. We stayed for a few days in this lovely home and truly felt at home. The space had everything we needed.. everything. Located in the heart of Old Montreal... it was just charming. We could walk to the Old Port.. and to some pretty exciting areas near by. We were also able to drive to destinations further away. It was a great trip. And our hosts... Cherie and Peter.. so nice and helpful. Thank you!

Delightful Stay - Everything It Promised to Be

Three days was hardly long enough to properly enjoy all that Montreal and this property in particular, has to offer. We were met warmly by the owner Peter, who gave us a quick orientation and showed us round the property. The apartment exceeded our expectations - indeed the images, though accurate, hardly do it justice. It's just gorgeous.

The decor is tasteful and well chosen with some beautiful interior design touches and and a layout that's easy to navigate. From the comfort of the huge bed to the superbly equipped kitchen, the wonderfully cosy living room and compact, practical bathroom, every feature of this luxury property is first class and real value for money. It was spotless too.

I would recommend this rental without hesitation - indeed this was our first experience using a VRBO property and the whole thing went off without a hitch. Thanks Peter and Cherie and thanks VRBO!
