About Mary Lou

This property is my family home. It's the place where I grew up and eventually renovated to the wonderful property it is today. I know this area very well and I've watched through these windows as St. John's changed from one of the world's richest fishing communities to the thriving metropolis and oil and gas producer that it is today. This signature property is how and why NL Select Vacation Homes Inc. began. Our company has been offering guests quality accommodations since 2006. Many guests return each year to enjoy the views of the harbour, the great trails of Signal Hill, and the quite location of the Battery. Louise and I have the pleasure of hosting guests from all across Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia and China. The list is endless. Our friends are world-wide. We like to see you stay with us and we love to know that you've enjoyed your stay. We try to provide the little things that we know will make your stay comfortable. Battery house was in the most unique and beautiful location overlooking the harbor of St John's. It was just the right size for 3 couples. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the balcony and use of BBQ. The hostess who met us there was very friendly and informative. There also was a great book with details. All correspondence over internet was replied to quickly and only 20% was needed as down payment. This property actually had 2 flat parking spots for vehicles which was a bonus in this area. It was a close walk to downtown and best restaurant Portobello's . We enjoyed Canada Day fireworks at Signal Hill and seeing a whale jump out of water at Cape Spear. Would love to return. Only thing we missed was air conditioning as we were blessed with hot weather.

Loved it!

We were greeted with the usual Newfoundland hospitality - with open arms. This was a perfect property for our family of 3 and 2 friends. A great location too - very close to downtown. The view of the harbour is magnificent, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch every evening with a bottle of wine. It had everything we needed in terms of amenities, including a BBQ. The house was very clean and well-maintained. Great trails nearby for walking or running. I will definitely stay here again when we visit St. John's. I would recommend this property to any of my friends or family.

Perfect solution to our family holiday

Battery house provided an open concept area where our visiting family of 6 was able to visit with our 2 family members living in St John's.
The whole house was spotless with a very well stocked kitchen. There were lots of thick bath towels and beautiful bed linens.
We also enjoyed bbqing on the deck while viewing the ships coming in and out of the harbour.
Our son and wife live downtown so we could easily walk to their apartment as well as lots of restaurants, George St pubs and shops.
We hope to rent Battery House again in 2014 when our first grandchild is born in St Johns and the family wants to be together.

A Gem!

This property was everything we had hoped for. It has an amazing view of St. John's harbour day and night. The house is spacious, with plenty of room for my family of four. It was clean and very comfortable, and is well maintained. It was perfectly located for the hike around Signal Hill and close to Quidi Vidi for a run in the am. I have no hesitation recommending this property, it is a real gem. I will definitately stay there again.
