This quaint protected harbour is ideal for kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving and hiking... and it's just metres away. For the serious sea kayaker it's the perfect launch site.
Several hiking trails at your front door lead to panoramic ocean views of the Isles of Notre Dame and seemingly endless beaches.
Back Harbour is renowned for it's breath-taking sunsets which are your's to enjoy right from the surround deck. This place is a photographer's dream whether amateur or professional.
Nestled near the mouth of the harbour is the Back Harbour Bird Island with several species of nesting birds which can be viewed with our binoculars or spotting scope. A walk along the surrounding hiking trails will bring you even closer.
Enjoy the outdoor bonfire pit complete with adirondack chairs for four with extra chairs and picnic table. Back Harbour provides the perfect lighting for star gazing. Don't be surprised to see fireworks which is a frequent activity among the locals.
A short walk brings you into Twillingate Proper where you can take one of several whale watching and Iceberg boat tours. Enjoy the convenience of local restaurants, tea rooms, cafes, gift shops, discount stores, super markets, a bank and a liquor store. Discover our history at the local museum, enjoy local live entertainment or visit one of several art galleries and studios.
A short drive will bring you to Crow Head Light House with a panoramic view of the ocean; a great whale watching location. Take a tour at the local winery or visit their gift shop and sample their delicious local berry wines.
Take a day trip and enjoy the Beothuk Interpretation Center complete with an authentic Beothuk site. Take a ferry to visit the Fogo and Change Islands. Drive to the Exploits River and enjoy white water rafting. Or just endlessly explore surrounding communities.
There is an RV park located in Back Harbour for those who are travelling with coachers.
