Fabulous Escape

5 of 5
Submitted: May 21, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
This was our second trip to this fantastic cottage. Paul and Julie are very friendly and I would echo an earlier report in which someone said they were greeted like old friends. It felt like we hadn't been away and look foward to getting back there as soon as we can escape work again!

The cottage is well stocked with everything you could need equipment wise and close to a large Auchan for stocking up with food. There are some lovely walks along the track that runs from outside of the cottage into the forest and if you don't fancy a walk just sitting by the river is relaxing. It's very clean and we would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to family and friends.

We were with two young chlldren who love the place, it is safe for the them playing in the garden, certainly the top main area and we had to vitually drag them away Saturday. Max the dog was a hit and a day didn't pass without them saying hello to him. In fact I've already been asked when we're going back.

In summary I'd say this is suitable to any group that want to get away and relax as well as sample some of the local Cremants etc.

Looking forward to returning soon.

Picturesque cottage

Submitted: September 6, 2011 Stayed: August 2011
We stayed here for a week at the end of August and it was delightful! A quaint stone cottage by a stream, it feels like a secluded country haven if you want to get away from it all - perfect for reading a book in the sunshine or a barbeque in the evening.

There are shops a short drive away and Chablis is about an hours drive. No wi-fi but wired internet access is provided.

Highly recommended.

Total relaxation in a beautiful setting.

Paul and Julie greeted us like old friends. The cottage has been wonderfully and tastefully restored and decorated. It is just as it appears in the photos. We felt like we were home from the moment we stepped in the door. We spent a very lazy week taking walks back into the forest and sitting in the sun on the patio while gazing across the fields. With our busy lives, it is the most relaxed we have been in a long time. When we felt we must move, we got into the car and meandered down whatever small country roads appealed to us. When we wanted to return, we checked our map to see where we were. We never had any problems. There are plenty of places to go and things to do in the area. We will save those for a return trip; which I am sure won't be too far into the future. If you choose to stay at river cottage, no matter what type of vacation you are planning.

Wine, cheese, sun, relaxation and more wine

5 of 5
Submitted: April 9, 2010 Stayed: September 2009
We have stayed at River Cottage every year since 2006, we have enjoyed it every time and are really looking forward to our next visit this September.

Paul, Julie and their Children are lovely and very accommodating.

River Cottage is an ideal place to relax. We have enjoyed many of times sitting at the kitchen table playing games, sunning our selves in the garden, taking a swim in the river and even attempted to catch a fish or two.

Paul has introduced us to some great wines and vineyards and has educated us in the art of wine making and tasting.

Big thanks to Paul, Julie and family
See you soon
