Bang Tao: the best beach in Phuket: Bang Tao is truly breath-taking, with some 5 miles of uncrowded white sand beach lined with palm trees. Just imagine yourself taking the Residence jitney down to beach, spending your morning perfecting your tan and slipping in and out of the sea. Freshly caught sea food with a mango smoothie for lunch at the Residence beach resort and you begin to understand why this resort is home-away-from-home to the rich and famous.

And there's lots and lots to do: Very close by you'll find all the comforts of home. There's a Tesco close-by for all your self-catering needs. Go North a mile or so and you'll find several major hotels, restaurants, antique shops, spas and Thai massage. If you play golf there are seven great courses on the island. Or you could ride a horse on the beach, go para-sailing or jet skiing at nearby Surin beach, the kids will love Phuket FantaSea and the elephant rides while Mum can indulge in a spa treatment. Tired of all this relaxation? Well the night life of Patong is just half an hour away.

Sorry for massive delay in posting.

There is no way does the excellent description and photographs on the site do this superb property justice,
We were treated and felt like royalty throughout our stay the staff are wonderful and second to none.
Phuket was extremely quite at the time we visited and the local restaurants mostly empty. Despite this there was one excellent Italian/Pizza/Thai restaurant called the Capri which was busy every night.
If you are wise enough to stay in this accommodation I thoroughly recommend this homely family run establishment.
We did have a car for the whole of our stay and I would personally recommend this. When we did not wish to drive we simply contacted the hire company and they supplied a driver for a fraction of the cost of a taxi.
I would not hesitate booking a return visit if we return to Phuket and can confirm that Bob, the owner, was a delight to deal with.

However, a major downside for us was that through the lack of tourists the beaches were not a pleasant place to be. The locals who understandably are trying to make a living, focus themselves on the available trade and this was at times overwhelming. Even when eating at beach restaurants the 'hawkers' were plaguing us and not dissuaded, therefore encouraged, by the owners. This is something which we could not suffer and so our visits to the beaches were limited.

A great choice

A well presented and extremely comfortable villa which made for a perfect family holiday. The walled garden affords complete privacy and relaxation for those who just want to chill out in comfort, and the crystal clear pool makes leaving the compound a bit of a wrench. The Sala on the roof offers pleasant views over the adjacent fields and enjoyed cooling breezes when we were there in mid August. A particular pleasure was the way the large windows of the living area could be pushed completely aside into the walls making it feel more like part of the garden, and the pool and outdoor lighting made it a real feature at night.

The fast Wi-Fi access made my grown-up kids very happy indeed, and kept me in touch when necessary - though somehow it never seemed that necessary.

Bang Tao beach (with a number of restaurants and bars) is only 10-15 minutes away on foot for those who prefer to feel sand between their toes, but there is a free shuttle service during the day if you are feeling a little too relaxed to walk. In the other direction Tesco is a short stroll for necessities, and opposite it the food stalls at the twice-weekly night market offer a tasty and inexpensive alternative to restaurants or home cooking back at the villa (why would you want to do that anyway with all the great local food around?).

The staff who look after the complex are friendly, well trained and very willing to help. They kept the villa spotless and inundated us with clean pool towels. They also regularly offered lifts if they saw us about to walk somewhere. Take a torch if you want to walk back at night, though. Not all the roads are lit. A car is not an absolute necessity - we did perfectly well without one, though I might have felt differently if it had been a hotter time of the year, or if I had wanted to move further away from that pool!

In summary, an excellent choice for a relaxed break which delighted my whole family and which I have already recommended to friends.

Exceeded All Expectations!!

We stayed in this splendid villa for a week of total bliss. It truly is close to everything, yet set back enough that we felt a luxurious sense of privacy. The home itself is simply breath-taking in its sophisticated design, from the hardwood floors, to the exquisitely appointed bathrooms, to the amazing lighting and modern furnishings which beautifully reflected its regional surroundings. The service from the staff was so very warm and courteous, we felt as if we had known them for years. Their turn down service each evening was wonderful. The villa was always kept in pristine condition for us and we found ourselves wishing we had planned to stay there longer. It was a very sad day when we had to leave our beautiful, private enclosed villa. I would recommend it to anyone and truly cannot wait until our next trip back!

The best place to stay on Phuket!

Phuket is a hugely popular beach getaway for good reason. Although there are hordes of tourists at overcrowded Patong Beach, you can avoid them! There’s a great secret only a few kilometers north: the Bang Tao area. I’ve been to Phuket four times in the past two years and have stayed at this villa the last three of those times. I recommend it without hesitation, and here’s why:

-It’s private and luxurious. After a day’s activities, it’s great to come back to the villa’s private pool. Or, you can sit on the roof deck and enjoy the scenery. There’s a washer/dryer unit, and a full kitchen. The villa is spotless and well appointed. Bring your iPod, which you can plug into the villa’s stereo system. There are also a lot of cable channels available (not that you’ll spend much time watching TV.)

-It’s big. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, so there's plenty of room to bring friends or another couple. In fact, the villa ends up being a better deal than taking separate hotel rooms. The layout is open and well-designed, so you’ll never feel crowded. But even if you’re traveling alone, it’s absolutely a great value for the price.

-The location is prime. Bang Tao beach is beautiful and is as of yet relatively undeveloped. There’s a van service from the villa management to the beach, but you’ll want to have your own car anyway. (You can arrange to have a car delivered to your private garage.) In any case, it’s an easy two minute drive or a ten minute walk. There are a number of restaurants right on the beach, and compared to Patong or the beaches further south, Bang Tao is practically deserted. The villa is close to Surin, another great beach just a few minutes away.

-There’s a Tesco right at the top of the soi. This is a relatively new store and saves you from having to drive to the big Tesco in the center of the island. It’s fantastically convenient and you can stock up on drinks and snacks for your pool time.

Overall, this villa is a value for the price, perfectly located, luxurious, and well-maintained. Staying at this villa makes a good trip to Phuket great. I can’t wait to go back!
