IDYLLIC COTTAGE IN ERCÉ, ARIÈGE, PYRENEES MOUNTAINS

Erce Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Gite, 4 – 6 persons, in mountain village 650 m above sea level

A typical rural gîte in the small village of Ercé, in the heart of the Pyrenees Regional Natural Park. 'Le reflet de la lune' (English: Under the Moonlight) is a former barn that I restored in its original style with stone walls and slate roof. The little house is situated in the middle of the village, but quietly behind my house in the second row. In the house and on the terraces one is on its own.

Ercé is situated 650 meters above sea level and has 350 inhabitants. The slopes, covered by green forests, and green meadows along the river dominate the picture. The people live modestly, mostly of raising cattle. The car is parked in front of my house on a private parking, a small lane leads to the gîte (50 m) for pedestrians only. My name is Marie-Noëlle, I was born here and I would like to acquaint you with the unique and beautiful aspects of my home country.

Description of the gîte

Exterior amenities: a large terrace with dining table in the front yard, a second where you can sit comfortably in the shade of my apple trees (or grill), above this, another terrace (solarium) with lounge chairs and views of the mountains.

Ground floor: living room with fireplace, sofa, TV, DVD player, WiFi, dining table, fully equipped kitchen and breakfast bar. Spiral staircase to

first floor offering: one spacious room with skylights, a double bed (140 x 200) and two single beds (90 x 190), bathroom with large bath, shower and toilet. Steep stairs to the two beds in

the attic: two single beds (90 x 140)

On my website www.lerefletdelalune.com you will find even more photos.

Ayurvedic massage on request (Shirodhra pot)

In Ercé you will find: a Bureau de Poste, an épicerie (with daily fresh bread) and (French) newspapers, a restaurant serving regional cuisine. Some pubs and the next doctor's office are in Oust (4 miles), the pharmacy in Seix, and small and large supermarkets. Some farmers sell cheese, honey, etc. from the farm.

Activities: marked trails start outside the front door of my gîte, for example to Cominac, a picturesque mountain village with a panoramic view of Mt Valier (3 miles). You can also fish for trout, go rafting or kayaking, pick berries and mushrooms, explore caves, visit the unique mountain strongholds of the Cathars, romanesque churches and monasteries (eg in St. Girons). There is a tennis court, a climbing garden and spa in Aulus (6 mls), and in the winter to ski shuttle connects Ercé with the station at Guzet (12 mls.).

At Ercé and In my cosy little gîte 'Le reflet de la lune' you may pass relaxing nature holidays, enjoy the view of tranquil & grassy areas: In well-preserved wild natural surroundings without too much tourism, Haut-Couserans and especially the village of Ercé are the ideal places for a change of scenery, with all sorts of leisure activities nearby, including visits and cultural ones. Ercé village has a rich history due to its tradition as home of bear tamers, and in the local museum you can see evidence of this. In the 19th century an astonishing number of locals emigrated to the USA, quite a few of them started restaurants in Manhattan... some of them still in existence!

Lots of mountain walks start from the gite and the mountain top is only 9 km away with numerous lakes, wild animals and beautiful wildlife. Our thermal spa : Aulus-Les-Bains is 9 km away (pool, sauna, jacuzzi).

A WONDERFUL PLACE TO SPEND YOUR VACATION

  • 5 of 5
Marie-Noelle's gîte "Le Reflet de la Lune" is a lovely, well-equipped, traditional 2-floor stone cottage located in the heart of Ercé, a picturesque village in the Midi-Pyrénées, about 130 km south of Toulouse. It's ideally located and an idyllic place from where you can explore the magnificent mountains, villages, and towns of the pristine Ariège region.
Throughout our vacation, Marie-Noelle was very hospitable and helpful. She gave us maps of the region and provided us with very useful recommendations. It's mainly thanks to her that we saw breathtakingly beautiful places on our hikes in the mountains. Both her gîte and beautiful garden with three terraces in front of it offer wonderful repose.
The cottage's kitchen is fully equipped. There are beds on each floor and one well-equipped bathroom. There is nothing to bring, linen and towels are provided.
Marie-Noelle's place and the Ariège region are definitely worth more than one visit, and we fully recommend both to all those who enjoy an unforgettable vacation in stunning nature.

ENTSPANNEND, DOCH NICHT LANGWEILIG

  • 5 of 5
A bientôt!

ERHOLUNG PUR

  • 5 of 5

THE REFLECTION OF THE MOON

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this lovely charming cottage for 7 days. We were made extremely welcome by Mairie and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is very comfortable and caters for every need. The mountains can be viewed from the property and there are lovely walks in the area. We will certainly look forward to returning.

IMMER WIEDER EIN ERLEBNIS

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed a second time in Marie-Noëlle's gîte in Ercé. This place is a wonderful and comfortable "base camp" for magnificent day trips or longer hikes. Marie-Noëlle has an intimate knowledge of the Ariège region and shares it with her guests by providing them with excellent information that she summarized in information sheets for hikers and cyclists.
Marie-Noëlle's traditional two-floor gîte is an idyllic place with lovely terraces and beautiful flowerbeds and plants in front of the cottage. The terraces have garden tables and chairs. After long hikes, we particularly enjoyed hanging out on one of the lovely terraces equipped with a green roof shelter, drinking tea or a glass of wine in the evening sun. For those who love to barbecue, everything is in place, too.
We spent our vacation in Ercé in spring (beginning of June) and in autumn (October). The temperatures were moderate and absolutely fantastic for hikes and bicycle tours. Just the last few days in October were a bit chilly, which was no problem, though, because there is a big, beautiful fireplace in Marie-Noëlle's gîte.
The kitchenette and rooms of the gîte are fully equipped, so you needn't bring anything.
In summary, for those who enjoy hikes and breathtaking, dazzling (360°) panoramic views in pristine nature and a village not crowded by tourists, we fully recommend the Midi-Pyrenees and Marie-Noëlle's place.

EIN TRAUMHAUS MIT TRAUMGARTEN IN TRAUMGEGEND....

  • 5 of 5

Wir freuen uns schon aufs nächste Jahr, a bientot!
