Lushly flowered stone terraced gardens. Large stone patio overlooking spring-fed 8ft (2,5 m) deep swimming pond. Tranquil mountain views. Well-equipped kitchen with combined microwave/oven. Outdoor BBQ. Cosy dining/living space with wood stove. flatscreen TV, DVD and stereo. Free WiFi Internet access and free European phone (not cell).

All ceilings and walls hand painted by local decoratrice/artiste. Glass enclosed interior waterfall. Comfortable, eye-catching master bedroom with 150x200 cm size bed. Stylish touches in stone, wood and tile throughout.

Guest house has a 140x200 cm bed, private full bath room and separate patio.

For families with children there is an intercom speaker system between the units. Guest house is always included and never rented out separately.

A little paradise in the mountains.

A lovely place, very good setting. About half an hour you get the Pyrenées or in an hour you stay in Biarritz (Atlantic Coast). I spent one week in early April with my husband and two children ( 6 and 8 years) , both swimmed at the pond all the time if the sun shined in the sky. And it's possible practising fishing (no killed) in the pond.

Romantic and charming get-away

My husband and I spent our honeymoon (2 weeks) in the Watermill and we couldn't have found a better and more romantic setting.
All the furniture was very comfortable (far more superior than most french rentals!) and fitted the environment well. We had plenty of candlelight "al fresco" dining on the patio overlooking the pond.
Very well-eqipped kitchen and absolutely no problems with any of the appliances.
Extra-plus for the large flatscreen-TV (so my husband could watch sports!).
Owners easy to communicate with, good cleaning and overall a great place.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Romantic Getaway

Nice house, tired furnishings

This is a charming little house in a lovely setting. The stream runs right under the house, with a window in the kitchen to show it off. The pond is a great feature, but too cold for all but the thickest skinned. The outdoor table is great, and nice loungers by the pond. The kitchen is well-equipped, but the microwave/cooker wasn't working, so you have to be creative on the hob and BBQ. The interior has been lovingly decorated, but the furnishings feel a little old and tired, with springs sprung in the two armchairs and thin pillows. It was very charming, but a little expensive for what it was.

Lurbe St Christau is located in the south-west corner of France in the Béarn region of the Pyrenees Atlantique. The village sits in the foothills stride the gateway to the imposing Pyrenees, approx. 45 km from the Spanish border.

The provincial town of Oloron Ste Marie is situated nine km to the north.

Lurbe St Christau is literally surrounded by Michelin calibre restaurants, as well as great local country cuisine. Convenient to shopping.

The garden is a colourful assortment of plants, flowers, fruit trees and terraced stonewalls. Both patios, as well as the garden, are well-lit for evening dining and pleasure. Both bedrooms have ample closet and shelf space. The attached guest house has a separate entry and a private tiled terrace facing the adjacent stream and mountain. For families with children there is an intercom system connecting the guest house and the bedroom in the mill. Free WiFI/Internet and free phone within Europe (no cells, landlines only).
