Spring Holiday in Tria Avga
We stayed in Tria Avga about ten months ago and found the house to be extremely well-equipped, comfortable and easy to manage. The property was clean and very well-maintained. The description regarding the lay-out, distance to the sea and distance to the villages was all accurate. We enjoyed the garden and swimming pool even in February. The drive from the airport at Hania was about three quarters of an hour and we particularly enjoyed visiting Hania during our stay. We also liked going inland and visiting the waterfalls. Another must is the museum at Hania and, of course, Knossos.
We look forward to another visit later in the year.

Tria Avga proved a fabulous choice for a too short holiday for us - a mature Australian couple.

The modern house is spacious and well appointed and immaculately presented with comfortable beds, numerous bathrooms and plenty of space which is well designed to take advantage of the breezes and provide a good balance of inside and outside areas for eating, reading and generally lounging around.

The pool is a good size for those crazy enough to do 'laps' while on holidays, and also welcoming for those who just wish to float away their troubles. The beach at Almirida is great for swimming in the Med, as is the 'cave and cove' onto Souda Bay a little to the east of the house if you can get directions or a local to guide you there.

Excellent kitchen came into play for preparing lazy breakfasts and dinners of local lamb and vegetables washed down with Cretan red wine and a glass or two of raki - purely as an aid to digestion.

For those who wish to 'dine out' there is plenty of choice a short drive away and we enjoyed the beachside strip in Almirida, the 'local' taverna at Kokkino Horio (where much of Zorba the Greek was filmed in 1964). We also recommend the taverna at Vamos which is a bit further afield but well worth the drive, either for lunch, or dinner, particularly if you go on a night when the 'band' is playing their local tunes and songs.

Tria Avga is an ideal base for exploring some of the incredible range of historical sites which Crete has to offer and we enjoyed day trips to Chania, Rethmyno, Iraklion and Knossos and wished we had a month instead of the week as everything we visited led to an addition to the 'must re-visit list'.

We would definitely return, next time for a longer period.

My wife and I met up with old friends at this delightful holiday home. The description fits well...and the beds are really comfortable! The flowers and blossom in spring are exceptionally beautiful, and there are excellent walks within an easy drive away...some over paths which are many centuries old, and through exhilarating scenery, (maps available in the house) but you will need good walking boots and long trousers to avoid getting scratched. The local beach is a good 10 minutes walk and quite small, but there are several more remote and beautiful coves nearby which are accessible by car. We ate at home mostly, and the local shops seem to have everything you need, with everyone being very friendly. an excellent base from which to tour the island.
