10 of us (ranging in age from 4 to 71) spent our spring break at Villa Vieux Caribe, and it could not have worked out better. The layout of the house was ideal, with everyone enjoying a great view from their bedrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was great to be able to eat breakfast and lunch there. We used the pool a ton, and there is ample seating outside, both for relaxing and for dining. While it is a quick walk to the beach, we usually just went down the steps by the dock and walked or swam (depending on time of day) across the boat channel. Taylor Bay was beautiful, and it was perfect for our 3 young children- calm and shallow. There were usually only a handful of people a the beach- so nice! There are 2 tennis courts just off the path to the beach that we had access to, and they were very nicely maintained. We used 2 of the kayaks and paddled to Sapodilla Bay- very fun. Plenty of beach towels were provided at the villa. The villa was clean, though some of the furnishings were starting to show signs of wear (many of the blinds were broken, some of the lamp shades fell down when touched, a second washer/dryer set was broken, etc.- nothing that interfered with our overall enjoyment, though). Each bedroom is air-conditioned, and the A/C is quite effective; we only used it 1 or 2 of the nights, as it was pleasant without it most of the time. The house is attractively furnished, very nicely landscaped, and just really pleasant. My family of 5 stayed in the 3rd-floor bedrooms, and the view from the balcony was amazing. The photos online provide an accurate idea of what you'll be getting; we were not disappointed!
We went out for dinner each night. Restaurants we particularly enjoyed were Las Brisas (really close to the villa, wonderful view of Chalk Sound, and good food), The Flamingo Cafe (beautiful view at sunset & excellent curried grouper), & Bugaloo's (another local dive like Flamingo Cafe, with delicious conch fritters and conch salad; really nice outdoor setting, right on the beach). We also liked Lemon Cafe (Mediterranean food for something different, with great service that was really quick by island standards). The full moon beach BBQ at Bay Bistro was great!
6 of us decided to try SNUBA, which I would highly recommend. My 9-year-old daughter went with us, and she took to it immediately and had an amazing experience.
Louise, the villa owner, was really helpful. We would highly recommend staying at Vieux Caribe!!!
