Far quieter than most busy resorts, this is one of Maui’s best kept secrets, with direct access to a picturesque, uncrowded sandy swimming beach known for it’s abundance of tropical fish and gentle sea turtles. Makena Surf Resort has direct access to two sandy swimming beaches, two heated swimming pools, two hot tubs, 4 tennis courts, and lush tropical foliage and flowers.
Visitors to Makena Surf often comment how uncrowded and spacious the beach is. Many small tidepools are perfect for curious children. Dip your head under water during winter season and you may hear whale song! Located just two miles south of Wailea, guests can still easily enjoy the fine restaurants, luxury shopping, and exciting activities of South Maui. Parking at Makena Surf is provided free of charge. There are three golf courses within minutes. Gannon's Restaurant (now operated by famous chef Bev Gannon), and the Wailea Gold and Emerald Courses are just a few blocks away!
Along the south Maui coastline are dozens of other sandy swimming beaches, all of which are accessible to visitors. Most parks offer restrooms, picnic areas, showers, and some have lifeguard service, including the nearby 'Big Beach'.
