CAMBRIDGE URBAN OASIS NEAR M.I.T. & HARVARD

Cambridge Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2+child)

Newly renovated upscale one bedroom private apartment on first floor in an owner occupied Central Square Cambridge 2 family house - vibrant urban neighborhood steps away from the T, cafes, shops, live theater and music, and Zagat-rated restaurants. Walk 10 minutes to MIT or 20 minutes to Harvard.

Perfect location for the car-free traveller!

Designed by a LEED-certified architect with an eye for natural light and an award-winning lighting designer. PaperStone countertops, custom-built cabinets, wood floors throughout, a Liebherr fridge, and a gorgeous granite vanity are just some of the touches that welcome you home.

Fully equipped kitchen, new queen-sized bed, washer/dryer & free high caliber Wifi. Cot available upon request.

Another Boston area designer landscaped a magical green garden in spring 2013, completing the creation of what visitors have called 'a little piece of heaven' in the middle of the city.

Parking options include metered parking, local garages, or, with a deposit, a 3-day temporary guest parking permit for on-street resident parking. Truly, a car is really unnecessary.

The owners, Bill and Carolyn, paid a lot of attention to detail as they created a modern oasis in the middle of bustling Central Square, Cambridge. The apartment is located on the first floor of their newly renovated home.

Just a block away from top-rated restaurants, including Rendezvous, Craigie on Main, Salts, Chi Chi's and Central Kitchen. Also, a block away is the Central Square Theater, home to The Underground Railway Theater and The Nora Theatre Company. The Middle East is renowned for their live music entertainment.

3 grocery stores within a couple of blocks. And, of course, there are the two world-class universities - MIT and Harvard - both within walking distance or one short subway stop away.

My name is Carolyn and my husband, Bill, and I will be here to greet you and give you the keys to the apartment when you arrive. Starting in 2010, we spent 3 years working with an architect, lighting designer, contractor and landscape designer to re-envision our home and to create an apartment on our first floor. Our home, our apartment and the garden have turned out to be delightful retreats in the middle of a bustling city environment. One of the many joys of this location is that we can walk to M.I.T. where we both work in the IT department.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 1984

Bill has lived in this home since he was a student at MIT. Several years later, I joined him and together we purchased it in 1984, the year our son was born. We love Central Square for it's rich weave of diversity and culture, restaurants and nightlife, education and the creative and whimsical local merchants!

This place was just what I needed for a January stay -- warm, compact, comfortable, cozy, and incredibly convenient to the liveliest neighborhood in Cambridge and to subway and bus lines. The apartment is modern, clean, and has everything a visitor might need. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I would certainly hope to get this place again if I return.

Great Apartment, Great Landlords, Great Location in a Great City!

We found this apartment to be perfectly designed and located for our 4-month sabbatical in Boston. The living and dining space is very comfortable and well appointed for 2-3 people. The kitchen is fully furnished with high-end appliances and plenty of dishes and cookware so you can take full advantage of the three food markets within a 10 minute walk. A newly landscaped garden area is a lovely escape for warm weather and early morning coffee. Laundry equipment right outside the apartment door is a wonderful convenience. Bill and Carolyn are wonderful people (as well as landlords), always attentive to our needs yet also very respectful of our privacy. They keep all aspects of this property spotlessly clean and in top shape!

Central Square is eclectic and interesting with many excellent eateries, (don't miss Café Luna - we almost did!) as well as an excellent location from which to catch the subway or bus just around the corner. From here you can get to anywhere in Boston and even beyond. We often commuted to the western suburbs to visit our daughter. It is a nice half-hour walk down to the banks of the Charles River in two directions. Parking is difficult though not impossible - but read the signs as they DO tow! In short the property, the location and the landlords made our transition to Boston effortless and great fun!

This is a Great Place

The owners are generous, honest, right on site, and very nice.

The apartment is in a great location right between Harvard and MIT. Lots of great stuff to do right in the area. Tour the colleges, go out to Lexington and Concord, take walking tours of Cambridge and Boston.

One particularly good walk was though the neighborhood west of Harvard where, among other things, you can see the mansion where George Washington lived in and from where he commanded the troops early in the Revolutionary War. Later, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lived there and from there wrote, among other things, "Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere".

The apartment is clean, nicely decorated (real art), and well maintained. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and dishes. Parking was pretty easy. The owners will lend you a visitors parking pass and there is a city parking lot right behind the house which is pretty easy to work with. They also lend guests an iPad which was helpful and enjoyable.

There is also a pleasant garden in the back.

We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Twice was Nice

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay at this VRBO property two years in a row. The listing description was very accurate, as were the photographs. The property was clean and well-maintained and the owners were very helpful and communicative. As a two-time guest, I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative, and I hope that I have the opportunity to stay again. Finally, the property is located in one of the central hubs of Cambridge (Central Square), with restaurants, stores, and public transportation within easy reach.

Two friends and a garden

Eloisa and I spent two months in Cambridge @ the Oasis. We have rented apartments, studios, and even houses, troughout the world with VRBO, but this place was a good surprise. It is really good. All the we need, the restaurants, the neigbourhood, the post office, the main services are at a walking distance. In it is just at a wlking distance from HArvard and MIT. ALso the T line is at the corner of Mass Ave. But the more important is that when we arrrived, at the end of May, Carolyn received us at the front door and, with a beatiful smile told us, that the Oasis will be completed in a few days. Then we saw her and Bill planting a garden and the Oasis has been completed. We follow them watering and taking care of their plants and trees and in a few days they were growing up. Oasis is the appropriate name to this beautiful place at Central Square. Of course we will came again. We have now, in Cambridge two friends and we saw that an Oasis may be done. Thank you Carolyn and Bill.
