Wow! My husband and I really loved our six day Fall stay here in the mountains just outside of Bristol NH. The apartment has beautiful cherry floors with high quality furniture, a super comfortable bed and a nice kitchen nook. There are lots of plush towels and everything was very clean. The views are fantastic from three sides of the great room, one overlooking the falls and the other two overlooking the mountain ranges. You feel like you are in the tree tops! We would stay here again just for the views, with the beautiful interior being an added benefit!
Upon our request, Vinny gave us several suggestions on places to visit. We enjoy hiking so our first visit was to Wellington State Park along Newfound Lake. There is a beautiful flat 1.5 mile hike from the boat launch to the beach along the shore. Just outside the park is are steeper trails up to a mountain pond with evidence of much beaver activity. Sculptured Rocks Geologic Site is a beautiful roadside stop, with a nice trail available for further hiking. Cardigan Mountain State Park hiking is not for the faint of heart. What an amazing view after climbing up the granite lined trail! We also took two day trips, one to the coast and up into Maine, and the other was north into the White Mountains. Don't miss the Kancamagus Highway with many scenic stops and hiking options.
Don't hesitate to stay here, just make sure to give yourself plenty of time to explore. You will love it! (Just FYI- the shower is in the bedroom, with a separate half bath, which may be a consideration for more than 2 people.)
My husband myself our daughter and here boyfriend stayed here .... The place was amazing the best views of the waterfall. We can't wait to return so worth the 14 hour drive
My husband and I, along with our two boys ages 7 and 9, stayed in Vinny and Mitzi's studio for five days while skiing at Ragged Mountain. First of all, "studio" does not do this space justice - there is an enormous living area where we watched movies, read, played pool and just enjoyed the mountain views out the many windows. There is a small eat-in kitchen with dining seating for four and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook any meal. Beyond that, there is a very good-sized bedroom with a queen bed and plenty of soft, carpeted floor space for our kids to crash in sleeping bags. The bathroom was also very spacious. So, it is not a studio - it is so much more!
On top of all that inside living space, there is a large deck outside with breathtaking views. Basically, you are surrounded by mountains and waterfalls, and when we first drove up to the house it was breathtaking and surpassed my expectations for a getaway in nature.
I was briefly unsure when I read that the owners lived next door - worried my kids might be too noisy, etc. But, the owner Vinny stopped over once on our first day to make sure we were settled in OK, and after that we did not see the owners again - felt plenty of privacy and very comfortable and welcome. The owners, Vinny and Mitzi, are friendly, professional, courteous, and best of all they clearly take a lot of care in keeping up the place and making sure guests are comfortable - it was definitely one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed in - every corner of the kitchen, bathroom, etc. was spotless. The decor was lovely too - we truly felt like we "got away from it all."
The house is a ten minute ride to Ragged Mountain, so we could hop out of bed in the morning (without starting at the crack of dawn!) and be there when they opened for a great day of family-friendly skiing. The house is also less than five minutes away from some cute and yummy local restaurants and pizza places, and there is a Shop and Save grocery store right on the way to/from Ragged.
Vinny and Mitzi also own a beautiful cabin just down the hill from where we stayed. It looked so nice and I can say without reservation that however they describe the cabin or the studio will be accurate - and meticulously clean!
This was one of the favorite vacations our family has ever had. We are hoping to find one more free weekend during ski season to get back up there and we would definitely stay in the same place again.
My husband and I were looking for place to get away from the stress and pollution of the big city. This was a perfect. The setting itself is enough to highly recommend it. The scene from the windows or the side porch was of trees, hills, and the waterfall. But there is much more one can say. The one-bedroom itself was immaculate, modern, and very comfortable. The location is tucked away enough for peace and relaxation but also well connected to a road that leads to parks, beaches, cute restaurants, cafes, farmers markets, and antique stores. One could also easily walk to the waterfall to swim and a nearby park to take long walks. Finally, Vinny and Mitzi, the owners, were always kind and very helpful.
A wonderful get away.
What a surprise to find such a stunning gem deep in the woods of New Hampshire. We have stayed at other places in the Lakes Region and this is, by far, the most enjoyable. Most of the camps we have seen were far inferior to this modern, well equipped, and charming setting. The views are magnificent. The studio is exceptionally clean and the owners are a delight. We especially liked the river setting with crystal clear water and no crowds. I could have stayed all summer watching the beautiful birds on site while drinking my morning coffee with the sun shinning on my face, soaking up sun at the wonderful swimming hole and exploring the many sites and exquisite restaurants of the Lakes Region. It felt like your own slice of heaven but only a couple of minutes to town. We will be back as soon as our time will allow. We are even considering a winter stay. I can just imagine the post card scene just outside every window.
In our opinion, this is the best value for the dollar we have found in our travels. It may not be the place for small kids or really bad knees. The stairs are steep and climbing over slick rocks at the river is challenging (but you could choose to take in the panoramic views instead). Vinny and Mitzi are conscientious owners and we will hereafter consider them friends.
The large house below is hard to believe. I wish we had a big enough family to take advantage of this gorgeous place. It is settled in the woods, so it doesn't have the expansive views, but if you have a large gathering, this is the place for you. Both these properties are hard to top.
Magnificent sounds of waterfalls viewed from wall of windows overlooking the incredable Profile Falls and all the surrounding mountains. Walk to the falls and go for a swim or lounge on the rocks in the sun . Miles of walking trails and mountain bikeing ,or river walking . 3 mile ride to Welington State Park on beautiful Newfound Lake ,town beaches and restaurants, antique shops ,homemade ice cream stands and fresh veggie stands . Short ride to Ragged mountain ski area and gulf resort . There is no escapeing the relaxing sounds of water falling over the rocks at the falls .
