The Fall in Maine is beautiful too come relax and enjoy the foliage at the Log Home also makes great holiday vacations! Remember living in a log home is like being on vacation every day!!!!!!
YOUR VACATION IS WAITING FOR YOU:-)
The log home is close to Raccoon Cove on Eastern Bay a short drive from the home to sit by the ocean.
Blunt'sPond is 1 mile. A sand beach for sunning and swimming. Good kayaking also. Kayak rentals are 3 miles along with a small General Store in Lamoine. Lamoine State Park is 3 miles away. Marlboro Beach is 1.5 miles also.
Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are approx. 20 miles and one of the most visited parks in the US today. Lovely walks though town with the best restaurantst and shops. Ellsworth 7 miles for grocery stores and restaurants also. There is so much to do in the area but it will be wonderful to come home at nite to the comforts of the Log Home and plan another day of fun and relaxation. We strive to make this the most enjoyable vacation ever!!!
The Town of Lamoine operates three public park areas.
•Lamoine Beach has picnic facilities.
•Bloomfield Park on Blunt's Pond has a small beach area on fresh water for swimming and fishing.
•Marlboro Beach enjoys relatively calm water at high tide for canoe, kayak and small boat launching - though there is no formal ramp for launching.
My family visited the log cabin in August. Our family has visited Maine several times, but this was our first time visiting the area of Lamoine. The weather was perfect! We had a great time riding our bikes and visiting Acadia. We did a wildlife boat tour in Bar Harbor, attended a lumberjack show and had fresh lobster for dinner twice. The log cabin was beautiful and very comfortable. The home was very well maintained. It was perfect for our family. We did have some noise during the day with a new home being built down the street, but the nights were so peaceful. We hope to visit Lamoine again in the future.
The log home was truly breath taking, it had every thing to make our stay wonderful. We missed out on the day time quite and relaxing though, with the ground breaking of a new home across the street, all we had from 7:00 until 4:00 each week day was heavy equipment and chain saw noise, (no naps possible). We were very excited to see the flock of turkeys that came into the yard each evening to snack on the tasty raspberries. Would recommend this home to all that do not have problems with stairs as there is no access to the main floor without a flight of stairs. Very nice to have bathrooms on each floor.
What an awesome place to stay! The cabin was fully loaded, clean, and well maintained. Judy was a very pleasant person to rent from. She was more than efficient in answering our questions and providing information to make our time in Maine one of the most enjoyable trips we spent as a family. I would definitely recommend this place. We had fun hiking and
biking on the carriage roads in Acadia National Park. Some other activities we enjoyed were....
Shopping- Main Street
Fishing- Vagabond deep sea fishing
Movie pizza-Real pizza cinema
Music- bar harbor town band/ best ice cream across from the park
Sunrise -Cadillac mountain
Although it rained a couple of days, we were happy to spend quality family time in the cabin where we played games, watched DVDs, cooked, grilled,....
There's so much to see. The whole family had a blast. We would love to one day revisit the cabin and finish our long list of things to do and see!!! Thanks for a wonderful vacation, Judy!!
We loved the log home! We had deer come across the driveway and a raccoon visit in the evening. The home was equipped with everything you need. Our grandsons loved the bunk beds and going down to Raccoon Cove to skip rocks each evening! It was beautifully decorated and after exploring during the day, it was a peaceful, quiet place to come back to in the evening. One of the best things is renting from such nice people! Thanks John & Judy !
The cabin was wonderful! My family had an amazing vacation and created lasting memories. When we arrived everything was spotless and just as we imagined. The owner, Judy, was great to work with and answered all questions. We loved sipping morning coffee on the porch and firepits at night. I would highly recommend the the Riverside Cafe in Ellsworth for breakfast and the Union River Lobster Pot for dinner. For a fancy dinner try The Reading Room at the Bar Harbor Inn - amazing! Also, we had a great time kayaking on Long Pond and eating popovers at the Jordan Pond House. I strongly suggest staying in this cabin if you are looking for a great Maine vacation!!!!
We just got back from a great vacation in Maine. The house carries the logs in everything. My kids thought it was great having the lower level to themselves. The hot tub was a great plus. Location allowed us many trips to Acadia national Park (don't miss out on Schoonic Point & Winter Harbor). It is also close to shopping in Ellsworth. Check out the beach 1 1/2 miles from the house, on Marlboro Beach Rd just off of Racoon Cove Rd great for sunrise or sunset photos.
Blunt's Pond stocked with Trout
Lamoine Beach Park
Located at the end of State Route 184, Lamoine Beach features over 1,000 feet of coarse sand and pebble shoreline. There are picnic facilities, an outhouse and new for 2004 a bicycle rack.
Many like to wade in the calm, cool salt water of Frenchman Bay, while others enjoy laying on a blanket or lawn chair and tanning in the sun. A great picnic spot with a view of Bar Harbor. When cruise ships are anchored there, there is a clear view of many of the ships. The Independence Day Fireworks are often visible from Lamoine Beach, and quite a crowd gathers to celebrate America's Independence.
Bloomfield Park is located on Blunt's Pond, and accessible from Asa's Lane. It is named for the late Bloomfield Smith who left the shore frontage that makes up the park to the Town of Lamoine many years ago.
The park is a popular residents-only swimming area for daytime use only. There are no restroom facilities, but there are a couple of picnic tables, and the waterfront by the parking area is sandy enough, and the water quite shallow so that swimming is relatively safe. Children must be accompanied by adults, and there are no after-dark uses permitted.
Winter months, when the weather is just right, makes Blunt's Pond the perfect 5-acre skating rink. Unfortunately, the weather doesn't always cooperate. The Frenchman Bay Riders Snowmobile club is located just beyond the park, and many ice fishermen set traps to catch pickerel.
Often, Bald Eagles will cruise over the pond and catch a fish or two for dinner. Other inhabitants include raccoons, beaver, and ducks.
