We grew up in Brevard so we know about the natural beauty of the area. We inherited this lakehouse from one of our parents who in 2008 built this special lake retreat house, called Belonging Place, so that she and groups she cared about could renew themselves in the beautiful, quiet mountains and the mesmerizing lake.
Chill Fest for a College Reunion (1972). What a great house, we had a a great time!
WOW! Pictures do not do this cabin justice. Our family traveled to North Carolina after the new year for a mini-vacation, but we all wanted to extend our stay once we arrived. The cabin is gorgeous, the views are phenomenal, and it was extremely clean and organized. I loved that the cabinets all have clear labels describing what's inside each - it was so much easier to find everything. They also had a binder with all the instructions and nearby places. We had a baby with us, so it was great that we had the Urgent Care and Hospital address in the binder as we actually did have to take the baby once.
We loved our stay and cannot wait to return. There is not one thing I could say that could be negative or that may need improvement. It was a fantastic experience. We even had one very rainy day and we took advantage and stayed in, started a fire on the porch, played board games, and the kids also watched a movie. We had small children with us and they loved the game room/den as well as the lake and the surrounding hiking area.
The owner was very easily accessible by e-mail or phone and was a great experience to deal with. I would not just recommend this property, but I plan on returning in the summer or fall to take advantage of the lake :)
We had a wonderful stay at the lake house over Christmas this year. We brought a small tree which was beautiful in front of the windows looking out at the lake. There were 7 of us including my elderly mother who had no trouble getting around the main level of the house. It is a beautiful home. We all commented on how quiet the house is, no squeaking doors or stairs. Must be very well built! Unfortunately we had a chance to visit the emergency room at Transylvania Community Hospital and it was impressive also!
Wow. My family was blown away with this beautiful house, even better than the pictures. A very comfortable clean home with plenty of places to hang out and enjoy the view of the lake. Game room was fun for the grandkids to play ping pong and watch tv, the adults mostly enjoyed the outdoor covered living area with a fire at night. The bedrooms were all comfortable and decorated nicely.
We spent the days playing on the lake with all the toys and watercraft that are made available. The most exciting event occurred when my 3 year old grandson caught his first fish off the dock.
I would highly recommend this property and hope to return soon.
Belonging Place is absolutely beautiful! We had a wonderful time and wished we could stay longer. The owners thought of everything. Quite possibly the best laid out, thought out place I've ever rented. We found everything just as it was listed, but it's even better than the description and pictures depict. The owners emailed us a list of recommendations and websites to help us plan our trip before we left which was so helpful. If you love the outdoors the surrounding area is gorgeous! Our visit to the local downtown was cut short by rain, but what few shops we were able to visit were great, especially the toy store.
We so much enjoyed our stay here: the beds were so comfortable, soft linens and full-size bath towels, the kitchen is fully equipped, lots of little touches that make this place special, a beautiful setting -- can't say enough good things about the house and its setting. There were 7 of us staying here and there was plenty of room for everyone. The owners were very helpful and responsive to our questions. We hope to be back again next year!
We rented the house to attend my son's wedding and had my children and grandchildren. It was a great house for our family to be able to have time all together. The lake was beautiful and everyone enjoyed the canoe and kayaks. The kids all loved fishing! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was beautiful and very comfortable. Everything you would need.
