Trancoso is a quiet, charming village, preserved and often visited by people from all over the world.
It was founded in the beginning of the Portuguese colonization with the name of São João dos Índios. The Jesuits used it as an Indian village for the catechization of the Indians.
A few years ago, it was no longer the rustic and isolated village discovered by hippos in 70years, to become the destination of VIPs and tuned.
It still keeps the quiet and calm characteristics, but now merged with a small town way of life, with the presence of luxury condos integrated with nature.
The “Quadrado”, a large square in the center of the village, framed by colorful little houses and the white chapel in the background, continues to be the heart of the place where everything happens.
In the simple and colorful houses, there are now bars, restaurants, stylish inns, craft shops and famous brands boutiques.
The stunning beaches help make it an unforgettable and magical view.
