LUXURY & CHARMING 3BDRS 2BTHS IN THE HEARTH OF ROME (MARILYN)

Our party of 5 adults stayed for a week in the Marilyn apartment. It was very clean, comfortable,nicely furnished and convenient for sightseeing and for restaurants. (There are also a couple of decent sized grocery stores within a short walking distance.) The apartment was nicely sized for the 5 of us. The old wooden beams on the ceiling give the apartment character and the apartment building and its situation definitely make you feel you are in Italy - not just another new generic apartment block. The description of the apartment on the website is accurate.
The surrounding area is full of restaurants - plenty of choice within a 5 min walk. We also walked from the apartment to all the major sites in Rome - Colosseum, Pantheon, Vatican City etc. which was a plus for us and made the apartment even more convenient. (Most of the tourist sites were within a 20- 30 minute walk.)
We drove to the apartment and were lucky enough to find a parking spot right in front of the apartment (an advantage of visiting mid December) and were met on our arrival by an employee of the managing agency, who handed over keys and instructed us in the use of heating etc. and provided us with a very useful map of Rome but there was no other information provided (probably because it is a managed property rather than an owner's property).
The kitchen area is very small - we ate out every night - and although the kitchen seemed to be reasonably well equipped, cooking dinner would have required skills in space organization. There is a 4 burner electric cooking top and a small microwave oven but almost no counter space. However, who wants to cook when you have all those restaurants available to you? I would definitely recommend this apartment - we had a wonderful stay.

The apartment was exactly as described with a great layout that suited our large group of nine people. The property was spotless and well-maintained. The owner met us and provided us with excellent customer service.

Only three of the air conditioning units could be used at once and they had to be turned off if we planned on running the dishwasher or washing machine. There were plenty of towels for everyone. The linens were clean and in excellent condition. Some of the blankets however smelled strongly of perfume. Also, the internet access was spotty, meaning that it was only accessible in certain parts of the apartment and it sometimes kicked us out unexpectedly.

Right outside the door was a great Indian restaurant, a very interesting art gallery and a vintage clothing store. Even better was an organic grocery store directly across the street. There is a liquor store at the street corner as well a fairly comprehensive number of restaurant on vial Trastevere, a few steps away. We ate at different restaurants, including a sushi restaurant that had great food, a bakery that served all manners of baked goods, pizza and drinks, as well as a café that had mojitos for 1 euro!

The Marilyn apartment was perfect for our stay in Rome. We had 8 people and the space was adequate for us. The beds were very comfortable, the decor modern, bright and welcoming, just as in the pictures. Everything was clean and the unit was well taken care of. The owner was not available to meet us, but her colleague, Orlando met us and answered all of our questions. It is walking distance to many sights (15-20 minute walks), or there is a tram that can easily connect you with buses. The metro is not near this area, but that was not a problem for us. The grocery store is just around the corner and there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat. It you were to eat in the apartment, there is no oven, only a microwave and cook top, adequate for our needs. Kitchen was adequately stocked. The refrigerator is a nice size. A small washing machine holds more than it looks like it can, and laundry detergent was available in the apartment for us to use. Linens, soap and shampoo were included. Maps of the city were available for us to use, tour books or restaurant recommendations would have been useful as well. We would definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family and would stay here again if we return to Rome.
