Photos and Description of the Oroville vacation lodge rental
8 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 12-24)

The Lodge at Palmer lake is situated on over 300 feet of waterfront on beautiful Palmer Lake in Okanogan county, WA. The Lodge is 4400 square feet fully furnished with 8 bedrooms, a huge screened-in porch, wrap-around deck with huge timbers, a massive stone fireplace, pool table, full kitchen and dining area and 3 new full size bathrooms with natural stone finishes. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, gas range, granite countertops, slate floors and gorgeous custom cabinets.

Palmer lake is in Okanogan County, WA and covers 2100 acres, is about 5 miles long and 80 feet deep. It is surrounded by mountains, rolling hills, and orchards. Palmer Lake provides a myriad of outdoor opportunities throughout the year.

Water sports:

Swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing - you name it! In summertime the water gets quite warm. In the wintertime many people get out on the lake for ice skating and ice fishing.

Fishing:

Palmer Lake has rainbow trout, kokanee salmon ,eastern brook trout, brown trout, Lahontan cutthroat trout, and black crappie. It is also well known by insiders for both large and smallmouth bass. There is also burbot, bluegill, northern pikeminnow, lake whitefish, and peamouth, yellow perch and walleye. Anglers are allowed to fish the lake year-round.

The Beach:

Palmer Lake Lodge is situated on 2.5 acres with 300+ feet of lake front. The local road to Loomis divides the property, with the lake on one side and the beach on the other. The beach is made of small smooth and flat stones. It is shallow enough for small kids to wade/swim safely close to shore but deep enough to allow for a boat tie-up off shore. There is a large anchor with a buoy and boat tie-up available.

Why choose the Lodge at Palmer Lake for your vacation? Consider the Lodge if you are looking for...

•A Vancouver BC vacation to the Canadian Okanagan just south of the US border but within day trip distance to wineries, golf courses and spas

•The best waterskiing in Eastern Washington - water like glass, few boats and warm lake water, not cold Columbia river waterskiing!

•A vacation getaway and lodging experience right here in Washington state like homes in the Adirondack mountains of New York

•A hunting lodge to serve as base camp in one of Washington's best deer hunting areas

•A true Pacific Northwest lodge, originally built by the Biles family of the Biles-Coleman Lumber Company in the Omak, WA area

•A lake cabin in Okanogan county's Many Lakes Recreational Area where you can lake hop and fish to your heart's content

•An alternative to a British Colombia getaway at expensive resort that you can use as home base to tour the Okanagan Valley Wine Country or go Okanagan Golfing

•A vacation destination where celebrities from the '30s and '40s came to get away from it all

•A lodging experience with the feel of a Mountain lake resort where wildlife viewing can be done from the deck

•A place close to old mining establishments where you can go cave hunting and spelunking through old gold mines, or gold panning in the Similkameen River south of Oroville

•The best beach on Palmer lake and one of the best beaches in the Okanagan

•Canadian Okanagan lodging where you can experience the Okanagan Fall Wine Festival and other festivals in the Thompson Okanagan

•A place to stay close to other Hwy 97 lodging alternatives that breaks up your trip from Seattle to Banff but may well be the highlight of your trip

•A country escape far away from cell phones and computers

Notes: The closest major grocery stores are in either Tonasket or Oroville, both about 35 minutes away. There is a small gas station / quick stop 5 miles away with some limited grocery items (including bread and dairy but not much in the way of fresh goods). We recommend stocking up on groceries before you arrive. There are two refrigerators so there is quite a bit of room. If you need anything that you might normally find at a Target or WalMart, try Prince’s in Oroville. There is also a WalMart in Omak. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware, cookware, pots and pans, a blender, 2 large drip coffee makers and coffee. We stock the lodge with all the normal things like toilet paper, dish soap and other cleaning supplies. There is body wash soap but you may wish to bring your own soap and shampoo. Ladies will probably want to bring their hair dryers. There is a washer, dryer and dishwasher. There are 12 bath towels available, you will want to bring your own beach towels.

Rejuvenating Nature and Luxury

5 of 5
Submitted: July 31, 2010 Stayed: July 2010
The natural setting is as rejuvenating as ever, and then there's the renovated luxury interior. If you love wood in all its myriad uses, you're in for a treat as this building is rich with incredible works of wood in the siding, beams, floors, and millwork, both from the original construction and the new additions. Also, one of my epiphanies from this stay is that slate tile is absolutely the best material to step onto when you get out of the shower. Beautiful, warm, and quick drying. Love it.

Bird watching is another great "activity" here. In my stroll around the property, I saw a Western Red Tanager and lots of Hummingbirds. And twice we had the awe inspiring experience of seeing, from a few meters' distance, huge Ospreys and White Tailed Eagles swoop down to the lake and grab themselves a fish. Of course their fishing skills far surpassed ours, but we did catch a few fish ourselves, and they tasted so good baked or fried the next day.

Since it was warm, we also got to enjoy many swims in the fresh, clear lake.

My attempt to water ski may have been lame, but there's got to be a first time for everything.

So much fun, relaxation, laughs with friends and family...amazing vacation. I'm still on the high of the memories.
