BEAUTIFUL MILL HOUSE ON THE CAUTERSKILL, SAUGERTIES, HITS, CATSKILL, HUDSON

I'd like to describe a vacation I spent at the lovely Mill House belonging to Mrs Penelope Queen. Two weeks there in June of last year was a pure pleasure... the unique setting on the waterfall - the massed tropical plants and flowering trees and the delightful loggia for outdoor dining with the sound of the waterfall blending with birdsong made for a luxurious and relaxing time. The house is beautifully furnished with antiques and ultra-comfortable...the large kitchen with all new equipment was a cook's dream of country life and every detail was attended to most carefully and tastefully.
I would love to spend another holiday in this scenic countryside retreat so nearto town and all the conveniences. Thank you, sincerely, Jeanne H.

Sometimes the pictures & description overstate, but in case of Penelope's home, these pictures don't do it justice! The home is magnificent. It has everything and we just were swept away with the home's beauty and the great experience we had. From the outside, the house is covered with colorful plants, tropical flowers,beautiful climbing hydrangeas and ivy's and you can see and hear the waterfall! As you enter, the home is so beautiful and tastefully appointed. Her use of Pierre Deux wallpaper & color throughout the home is amazing, lovely furnishings and paintings that capture the owner's love of dogs and horses, and a big, homey French country kitchen with beautiful views.

There are both formal and informal spaces throughout the house depending on your mood & the moment. The living room is like a petite salon from Versailles; pocket doors open into the beautiful dining room where you feel like you are living in grand style. But the kitchen is my favorite room -- big, bright, a fabulous kitchen to cook in. There is a restaurant stove & a Delongi espresso machine for absolutely delicious coffee with the touch of a button, plenty of utensils, pots and pans to use and lovely dishes.

The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs are beautifully appointed and beds very comfortable with beautiful linens and towels. The house has all the latest technology, computer/office room, a TV in every bedroom, Bose system & iPod for music. The owner, Penelope, is very lovely to deal and truly made our stay a magical experience. We can't wait to return again!

My partner & I have been staying at this beautiful home on the Cauterskill Creek for many years. We keep coming back because it is the perfect retreat -- no matter what season. The home is furnished with the most beautiful antiques and art work. Beautiful linens, luxurious bathrooms and beautifully appointed rooms. Everywhere your eye looks, there is something lovely to see. From every window, there are views of the waterfall, creek, or gardens and fields. In the summertime, we spend time on the big, beautiful veranda that overlooks the waterfall and lovely gardens and grounds. The location of the house is perfect to visit so many interesting places & events -- the HITS horse show in Saugerties; antiquing in Hudson; historic homes like the George Cole House & Olana; concerts at Bard college. There are lots of cafes & restaurants close by, farmer's markets in the summer & fall. Penelope, the owner, is wonderful -- very accommodating and helpful. You'll never want to leave!!
