This 120 square metre, 3 bedroom house comfortably sleeps 5-6. Free High-Speed internet, flat screen TV and DVD player. Wood burning stove in the livingroom adds to the comfort. The bathroom has a jet-stream-massage tub as well as a shower. The kitchen has a large fridge with an ice cube maker, a large induction stove, a baking oven and a dishwasher. The dining table seats eight. The laundry room has a large washing machine and access to a large backyard has a good play area for kids with a small hut, swings and a sandbox. A paved patio has a large gas bbq and backyard dining furniture. A baby seat and a cot can be provided by request. Cleaning is included in the rent.

The house is located in Þorlakshofn, a seaside village of 1700 inhabitants, 35 minutes away from Reykjavik and less than 50 minutes from Keflavik International Airport. The location is convenient for accessing popular places on the south coast of Iceland such as the Blue Lagoon, Gullfoss, Geysir, Eyjafjallajokull, Þingvellir, Vestmannaeyjar, the hot springs of Krisuvik and many other magnificent locations. The house is located in the centre of Þorlakshofn village and all necessesary services are within walking distance. Þorlakshofn boasts a fantastic outdor public swimming pool, sports facilities, 18 hole golf course, grocery store and a liquor store, a bakery, a restaurant and a cafe as well as a tourist information centre. The area is ideal for romantic walks where you can explore caves and vast black volcanic sand shores and even enjoy the Northern Lights on a good night.

The house was very clean and comfortable with all the equipment that one could wish. The owners were very welcoming and incredibly available. All in all, a wonderful stay for the whole family. The very best mark!

Perfect house to stay on vacation

For me as a mathematician it is rare to say that something is really perfect. Always you can find something that bothers you a little bit... ... but this house really is the exceptional case!

The interior of the house is awesome, the owner provide a very good customer service (one example: Stefán came at 7am personally and gave us the key, because our flight was so early), the location of the house is super (5min walk to the next store and for accessing popular places of the South-West of Iceland it is a good starting point) and compared to other houses it is really, really cheap! Of course the house was clean and we did not have to clean after our stay (compared to other houses, where we had to wait up to 7 hours for the washing mashin to finish washing because we were 6 people...)

I could keep on to adore the house because of many other things, but I think it is already clear what I mean, when I say: It is perfect and I would recommend this property to everybody.

At our time in this house we visited the following places:
Reykjanes (e.g. Blue Lagoon), Golden Circle, Vestmannaeyjar (Heimaey) and Hvolsvöllur.

We wanted to visit also the volcano Hekla, Pórsmörk and Skógar, but our vacation time sadly was too short. What we could not recommend to you to visit is everything that is located beyond Vik, because it is too far away to drive bidirectional. What we could recommend to you is watching for the road signs "Tourist attraction" while driving through Iceland. You never know, what you will discover!

So far for my Review. I hope it will be usefull for somebody and I apologize for my bad English. Thanks a lot Hlíf and Stefán for providing such a great house and for giving us a really nice time in Iceland.

A beautiful place to stay

We (couple) had a wonderful stay at the property. The house was very clean and very (!!!) comfortable. We liked the kitchen and the cooking facilities very much. (We would love to have an additional pan ;-) ) The owner gave us a very warm welcome so that we felt home just as we arrived.
The e-mail contact to the owner before our journey started was very nice, informative and helpful.
The village is a good starting point for trips to Reykjavik and into the east. We would recommend this property to a friend or a relative - it was gorgeous!
