Overview

Galveston House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

You're not just on the beach, you own the beach.

Enjoy our inviting and spacious 1400 sq. ft. beachfront home on the sandy beach with breathtaking views over the Gulf of Mexico and Christmas Bay. The entire house has just been remodeled: kitchen, bathrooms, paint, decks, fireplace, beds, sofas, ceiling fans, even a new pretty white railing around the two decks.

We think you'll enjoy your time here while your blood pressure drops.

The master bedroom includes a king size bed, double futon that can pull out to be a double bed, reading lamps, an en-suite bathroom with a garden tub and separate shower, large walk-in closet, dresser, private porch, and tranquil views of the sun rising over the Gulf (there is no better way to wake up).

The guest bedroom has a new tall queen bed, reading lamp, lounge chair, and dresser. The bunkroom has a double bed on the bottom with a twin on top, another twin bed and a reading lamp. Feel free to take out our boogie boards in the closet.

The house is literally right on the beach with just a sand dune between the beach and our home. Our neighborhood uses a little wooden crossover bridge for getting to the beach in order to preserve the dunes. The beach itself is beautiful for finding treasures like shells that wash up from the sea. There is mostly fine sand with shells interspersed. In the summertime, the water around Galveston is warm. During certain weeks throughout the year, beachgoers will see a line of seaweed that has washed up on the beach. Seaweed is not always there and is not the norm, but it is natural and just a part of the beach ecosystem. It is partially responsible for building up the beach and dunes that we all enjoy.

About David Street

We are a sister and two brothers helping to care for our family's vacation home. The picture is several years old but we look even better now! We've created countless cherished memories at this house and are excited about having you come and experience our treasured spot.

Why David Street chose Galveston

We've made this our vacation getaway ever since Dear Old Dad built it on what he called the 'Best Beach Lot Ever' (he talks like that sometimes). But before you assume he is exaggerating (don't feel bad, we sometimes do too) take a look at our pictures. This honestly is a location unlike any other with a view down miles of unspoiled beach.

What makes this house unique

We all agree that sitting out on one of the beach-facing porches of our house is our favorite thing to do - people watching, watching the pelicans fly by, dolphins at play, seeing the colors change in the evening. The house is not overly cavernous, but has plenty of space to find privacy when you want it.

Beautiful home, beautiful views, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We would highly recommend this house to anyone that is looking for a quiet escape by the sea. This house has completely unrestricted view of the gulf with beautiful sunrises. The many windows in the house allows you to take advantage of the view whether you are inside or out. We enjoyed leaving our windows open at night to hear the surf against the beach.

We had originally booked a house in Florida and were so excited to be heading for those beautiful Florida beaches. Imagine our disappointment when we found out the Florida house had not only been double booked but we couldn't find anything else available for a family our size. A bit hesitant, we booked this house on the other side of the gulf hoping that it would meet what we were looking for. Amazingly, not only did it meet what we were looking for, but it exceeded what we had experienced before in Florida. The sand is not the fine, white, grainy sand that you can find in FL, but the privacy of the beach and playful surf was SO perfect for us! I read on one of the reviews about the seaweed, but there was virtually no seaweed at all while we were there (perhaps the time of year). The beach was gradual and yet the waves were active enough that my kids had tons of fun with the swim boards in the water. For most of the week, we had the beach entirely to ourselves. We also enjoyed fishing right from the beach in front of the house and caught quite a few fish.

We were also amazed at the friendliness of the locals. The bait shop owner, Bob, at the Bright Light was very friendly and helpful with fishing advice. He told us about a spot on the bay side where we could catch some big fish...and we did!:) Other fisherman were also very friendly and had little tidbits of advice for us amateurs. This was our family's first attempt to fish, and it was a successful one!

The only downside we found was that we Illinoisans wanted to be outside on the beach or on the deck 24/7, and our white northern skin was not conditioned for the sun....thus we had a couple nights with ice packs and cold rags on our sunburns despite the sunscreen we had applied.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and always responded quickly to any questions we had. Tina was a pleasure to work with.

All in all, we had a wonderful week. Would highly recommend this to others looking for a quiet place to enjoy the sea and relax!

A Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful beach house! We frequently rent houses along the Florida coast but have never rented anything on Texas' beaches. The House on the Beach wasn't on the Galveston strip but at the end, over a toll bridge, closer to Freeport. This less populated area was a big plus! While the house is fully updated with smart TVs, fully equipped kitchen, two baths, three bedrooms, washer/dryer and two decks, I think that the huge windows throughout the kitchen , master suite and living area made this property. What a thrill is was to see beautiful sunrises as you wake up in the king master bed, soak in the large tub in the master bath, sit at the table in the kitchen or lounge on the deck.

We fully expected to make several trips to Houston during our vacation but the house and the miles of undeveloped beach kept us relaxing at the beach all week. Although vehicles can drive on this beach, this property is located at the end of about 1-2 miles of undeveloped beach so there were only a few cars this time of year, mostly fishing in front of the house. The surf was very gentle and I would imagine a good swimming beach in the summer.

I would highly recommend House on the Beach to everyone--couples and families alike. Thank you for maintaining this house so exquisitely, making our vacation so magical.

Perfect Stay

  • 5 of 5

This trip was the latest in a tradition of "destination" New Years with some friends of ours and it did not disappoint. The views are amazing from pretty much every window of the house. Property owners are great communicators and most hospitable all the way from time of booking to time of departure. The weather was awful while we were there (we knew it was risky!) but we still enjoyed the amazing views, sunsets, environment, and local wildlife. The home was clean, well-kept and inviting. I would recommend this to anyone with or without children (we had 4 with us!) looking for a more secluded feel right on the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger coastal towns.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were married November 9th, 2014 on the cross over bridge next to the beach house. Everything was perfect, and the owners went out of their way to make sure our wedding and honeymoon was a complete success! The home is very well kept and the rates were great! The house is right in the beach! Great views! Very romantic! We will be back next year for our anniversary!

PERFECT SETTING TO RELAX!

  • 5 of 5

We have a group of guys who like to travel and fish a different area every year, and this year we picked Shark Fishing in Galveston. We also like to have a relaxing place to stay and unwind after a long day of fishing - and this place was PERFECT! The house had plenty of room for the 6 of us. The deck had amazing views of the sunrise over the ocean, and the sunset over the bay. The ocean seemed to be your own private escape. The drive in to Galveston was scenic as well as we drove back and forth for a few days. The fishing was highly successful as we all caught plenty of fish. The kitchen had everything needed to cook freshly caught Black Tip Shark for dinner each night. The renters were very accommodating and stayed in touch, making sure we had everything we needed. Great place, great time - highly recommend it!

OUTSTANDING HOUSE

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house and the location was perfect for us. My mom has parkinsons disease and her nerves are really bad at times, but it was so quiet and peaceful while we were there. Very relaxing just sitting on the deck and watching the people fish and stroll along the beach. There wasn't a lot of people like you see along the seawall area in Galveston. The rooms are very spacious. It's everything that they say in the other reviews and then some. The beds are great, the tub in the master bath is long for those of you who have long legs like me...lol...I'm 6 ft. Owners are great getting back to you if you have questions or problems. But the only problem I had was forgetting my info. for their house at home, luckily I had a phone number to call and they got back to me within 5-10 minutes. There were a few fire works that were shot off by others and the reflection of the lights off of the fireworks over the water was beautiful. Once mom got use to the noise and was expecting it she loved it also. But if your a person who can't handle several stairs then you might want to reconsider. They were hard on mom but she has a health problem that interferes with her mobility so we were prepared for that and only went to Galveston 1 day so mom wouldn't have to climb the stairs to much. She was happy just sitting and relaxing on the deck and listening to the waves while the rest of us girls walked on the beach and looked for sea shells every chance we got. We hope to return again next yr. and we will try to stay at this house.

Car: recommended

You're going to be located a few short feet behind the dunes looking down miles of undeveloped Gulf of Mexico beach. Great location if you'd like to be in a small neighborhood but have a secluded feel, you practically own the beach here.

There is a bait and tackle store within walking distance of the home for quick supplies or you will be able to take a short 10 minute drive down Bluewater Highway to get great seafood and shops.
