Jane and Les purchased this cabin in 2009
With the beauty of the tall mountains that frame the high plains, we fell in love with the South Park area of Colorado. We wanted a mountain escape from city life. We discovered the secret of the Indian Mountain area, and found a place to travel to the mountains without the heavy traffic and jams of the I-70 route. Quiet, a ways from civilization, but not too far from the major cities. We chose this cabin because of beautiful and modern interiors, simple but with full amenities, light and airy, but quiet and still. We enjoyed decorating the cabin with the Bear theme, its name, the bear pictures, and bear upholstery, and even the occasional bear visit!
We had a great time at the cabin. It was very clean and cozy. The road to the cabin was long and bumpy, but the views were incredible and it felt perfectly secluded. Great location between many Colorado highlights. Jane worked with us when we had any issues, and she made our stay very affordable. A great cabin!
I spent the month of July at Bear Ridge. I used the time to catch up on my reading and to enjoy the outdoors in prefect weather. The surroundings are very quiet, and I took many wonderful walks on the roads around the house. The house is also located near many 14ers and other great mountain hikes, which kept other members of my family happy for days.
Jane is great, when our car broke she did everything she could to help us find transportation into town. The house itself is very comfortable, well stocked, well maintained (it was spotless when we arrived), and the perfect size for a family get away.
We were so impressed with every aspect of our stay at the Bear Ridge Cabin. I guess I'll start with the location itself, in which the cabin is located. When planning our stay, amongst the varying criteria, the location was a major deciding factor in which cabin we decided on. The Bear Ridge Cabin couldn't have been more perfectly placed! We wanted something centrally located, NOT smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle, yet close enough that we're not driving an hour or more if we decided to grab dinner or needed something from the market. So in this category (location) the Bear Ridge Cabin gave us the peacefully quiet retreat we sought. The drives to the neighbouring tourist destinations (Breckenridge, Leadville, Denver, South Park etc) were also very manageable and could easily be reached in around 2 hours or less.
As a minor side note, the last 30 minutes of the drive heading into the cabin from Elkhorn Rd, via highway 285, is all dirt. While we did have the luxury of all-wheel-drive, in our Forester, we felt that either a front or rear wheel drive vehicle, could easily traverse the dirt roads with relative ease.
Once we arrived and got settled into the cabin, we quickly realized that Jane, the owner had literally thought of everything when outfitting this cabin with all the amenities and creature comforts that her guests would need during their stay. Basically what it boils down to is, so long as you bring food, clothing and toiletries, you'll soon realize Jane has taken care of literally just about every other item you would or could need during your stay. She has even gone so far as to pull together all the relevant information regarding your stay and how to make the most of it, along with what is expected of and required from you during the check-in and checkout times, then compiled everything in one easy to understand three ring folder.
Overall we had an absolute blast and it is very apparent that Jane genuinely wants her guests to have the best Colorado cabin experience that they possibly can and she will do everything within her abilities to see to it that this happens. Best of luck to those of you planning your vacation, I hope this review of our stay assists you in setting up yours! And Jane once again you were a phenomenal hostess and we absolutely can't wait to come out and do it again!!

This property is perfectly located to experience the quiet side of Colorado. 20-30 minute drive to Pike National forest trails and very close to a particularly beautiful section of the infamous Colorado trail.
Even more impressive was the wonderful service provided by Jane the property owner.
Could not be more satisfied with my stay. 25 out of 5 stars.
This was our first time in Colorado, our first time my children had ever seen snow or mountains for that matter. Jane and Les were very gracious and the cabin was impeccable. The mountain surrounding was awe inspiring, really made us apreciate our creator. We really liked the house, it was beautifully furnished, extremely clean and well arranged. We brought our own supplys, but ran out of tooth paste... Jane had us covered with an assorted supply box. She thought of everything. She even had a sled for our kids to fly down the hill. We only have positive things to say about our stay here, Thank you both for a great experience.
We enjoyed our stay here! Family of 4 on ski weekend. The place is very clean and neat with no excessive clutter. The furnishings were new and we had everything we needed. The owners were very easy to work with and went above and beyond to make our stay superb. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances and utensils and nice quality stuff too. Plenty of blankets, linens, etc. was a nice plus. The owner has thought of everything! Would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!
