The Beach Twins are 2 cottages, side by side in the heart of the former Fort Screven, which the army closed in 1945 at the end of WWII. To get to the beach from these cottages you walk past 2 other cottages and the beach is a half-block away. We are in a quiet residential section on a 1-block street with no through traffic. The Lighthouse is just a block away. So is the Fort Screven museum, formerly Battery Garland. And beside the museum is the North Beach Grill, specializing in Jamaican cuisine (try the crabmeat & asparagus appetizer). This is the quieter north end of the island preferred by celebrities. An A-list, oscar-winning actor lives a few blocks to the northwest and a world famous singer lives 2 blocks to the south. Surf-fishing is popular on the north beach and pier fishing on the south end.
