Photos and Description of the Tokyo vacation apartment rental
1 tatami style bedroom (sleeps 2-4), 1 bath unit, 2 sofa day beds, sleeps 6 - 8

Located on the main shopping strip, you are minutes away from both traditional Japanese eateries and some of the best international restaurants that Tokyo has to offer. The area has something to offer to both young travelers as well as for families.

If it's your first time to Tokyo as an individual traveller, you are close enough to the bars and clubs in Roppongi but not too far enough away that you can easily get home and enjoy a peaceful nights rest. If you enjoy all the conveniences of home like your morning coffee, you'll find 2 Starbucks, 2 Tullys, and some boutique coffee and tea houses as well.

If partying until the early morning is not your cup of tea, you'll find the neighborhood to be clean, fun and family friendly with plenty of areas to allow your kids to run around and play in recently constructed jungle gyms and parks while you can enjoy a glass of champagne or fine wine.

If you tire of the city, there are 2 subway stations with 3 trains to get you away.

The unit is a spacious, corner room with a beautiful bay window overlooking the main shopping street. While the entire unit is well lit during the day with two balconies, we hope you'll find the traditional tatami style bedroom to be surprising quiet and cozy.

Time to popular destinations in the area:

- Tokyo Tower, 10 min walk

- Roppongi Hills, 1 min walk

- Roppongi Main Crossing, 10 min walk

- Shiba Park / Daimon Temple, 10 min walk

- Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku, 10 min by train

- Tsukiji Morning Fish Market, 10 min by train

- Tokyo Midtown, 15 min walk

- National Modern Museum, 15 min walk

- Tokyo Disneyland, 40 min by train

- Tokyo Dome, 15 min by train

- Odaiba / Toyota Showcase, 30 min by train

- Makuhari Concert Hall, 45 min by train

- Narita Airport, 1 hour by bus or train

- Haneda Airport, 30 min by bus or train

Although there is a kitchen with two burners, please plan to take advantage of the wide selection of restaurants in the neighborhood. I am happy to provide suggestions during your stay.

I've stayed at homeaway units in the US in the past and now happy to provide this type of rental option to travelers to Tokyo. I hope that you will find this unit to meet your needs and exceed your expectations in terms of comfort and convenience as you discover for the first time how fun this city is or become reacquainted with Tokyo.

For long-term and/or larger groups, please feel free to contact me to learn more about our special offers and I can make special arrangements to prepare for your stay.

Wishing you happy and safe travels!

We all love Tokyo! And I love meeting interesting people from around the world. I want to share our home with you so please consider our place your place, your home away from home.

Please be my guest and only if you do not mind, please tell me a little about yourself and your trip plans. It helps to know something about you and why you are traveling to Japan. I enjoy it most when I can help family and friends reunite in this great, vibrant and resilient city! or its a dream vacation that you've been planning and saving up for years...as summer fireworks and street festival season is just around the corner! (Sorry the Juban matsuri last weekend in Aug is already booked!).

In most cases I am happy to meet your budget so if the price is somewhat out of your budget I make special exceptions whenever possible as I care less of making a huge profit and more about the purpose of your visit and the quality of your stay. I promise I will do more than others to accommodate for your stay and try to fulfill any special requests before your arrival and to try and make your stay - short visit or longer term - very special. Also, please rest assured if it's your first time to visit family or friends, returning after several years, or here on business or pleasure, that you will have a local, support staff to assist you 24/7.

I hope you'll find the area as one of the most international yet traditional parts of central Tokyo. Just as the neighborhood around you is a mixture of new and traditional Japan, you'll find the room also a nice, cozy balance of western carpet and traditional Japanese style tatami mats. There's a spectacular view of the city from the corner bay window and the morning sunrise reminds me of day break in Manhattan; another favorite city that never sleeps. And if you try hard you can even see the tip of the Tokyo Tower from one of the verandas (obviously not a selling point)! It's a rare and unique mix of new and old inside and out. So please get out and be ready to explore all the great things that Tokyo has to offer!

You will be minutes walking distance away from traditional boutique shops, restaurants, bars, and some of the newest shopping malls; Roppongi Hills (viewable from veranda) and Tokyo Midtown (not viewable from unit).

If you enjoy being in the center of it all during your stay, you will find this unit particularly attractive especially during the peak seasons.

For example, in the Spring / Summer, you can enjoy some of the most beautiful cherry blossom spots (just ended!), again just walking distance away. In the summer, the unit will place you above the Juban Matsuri (August - sorry already booked!) as over 20,000 people gather in the streets. The event can be compared to Maudi Grau in the US or Festival in Brazil but ends considerably early (so you can continue to enjoy peaceful night rests or continue to party until the early morning just stumbling distance away from Roppongi street).

In the Winter / Fall, you can enjoy the year-end illumination of Roppongi Hills (until late-February).

Both Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown offer shopping, late night dining, jazz bars, and traditional Japanese gardens for jogs / photo opps. There are also new play grounds and jungle gyms for your kids. You should find the area is kid / family-friendly and a little more spaceous to allow your kids to run around, safely.

If you prefer more classic / traditional experiences, the main shopping strip has many places to choose from... including Japanese sake and sho chu with rare selections, traditional noodle soba shops as well as other homemade traditional dishes including oden, yakitori, and Japanese sweets.

If you prefer a mix of international cuisine, you also have a wide variety of options including French, Italian, Chinese and American style BBQ restaurants (all reasonably priced).

And if the you tire of the hustle and bustle of city life, to get in & out of Tokyo, there are two stations within walking distance (Hibiya line (to Tsukiji Fishmarket and Ginza Kabuki / Shopping area), Oedo line (to Shinjuku and Tokyo - Narita airport station), and Nanboku line (to Shinagawa - Narita or Haneda Airport).

If you have any specific inquiries, please feel free to contact me directly (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese - toutes mes excuses je suis encore aux Ʃtudes FranƧaises).

Roppongi stay is great

Me and my dad stay here for about 10 days. The area is 100% wonderful. The apt has plenty of room, very clean and the hosts were very nice in showing us around. If you are looking to experience Japan and see all the sites you will like this place very much.
Owner's Response: Thanks again for staying and your kind review. You are always welcome back! Domo arigato!

Ideal location, great owners and a great time

5 of 5
Submitted: July 8, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
I only have good things to say about this rental. From the accurate description of the location and amenities on the website, to my arrival and subsequent stay, everything worked out well.
The owners were prompt in there correspondence with me and gave me a great deal at short notice. On arriving I had contact numbers and the location of where to meet the manager who then took us through the apartment and had necessary paperwork at the ready. The apartment was as advertised, cozy but still plenty of bed space for a group of people. The location is great. An easy walk to the metro from where you can go anywhere and in a neighbourhood with plenty of great restaurants as well as being an easy walk up the hill to Roppongi if you're after pubs and clubs at night or shopping at Roppongi Hills during the day.
We felt safe and secure the entire stay, it seems the apartment was in a more upper class area with nice restaurants and decent people, the Lincos supermarket (kind of like a whole foods) was a 3 minute walk away and good to grab drinks and snacks or dinner if you don't feel like doing the whole restaurant thing although you'd be missing out on some great places to dine.
Anyway, in the end myself and the others staying with me honestly had only good things to say about the apartment and our short visit (4 nights) to Tokyo. Definitely 5 stars.

Adequate, nothing special

3 of 5
Submitted: July 3, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
This apartment was adequate for a family of five but not enough where we would recommend it to friends. The positives included a computer, wifi, washing machine,tv,umbrellas and kitchen supplies. The location is ideal and is within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and the subway. Roppongi is a great area to explore. Our host was very accommodating purchasing supplies like dish washing detergent and sheets/pillowcases when we asked them to. They even paid for our cab fare from the Grand Hyatt. However, the negatives would make us look elsewhere. We just stayed at a fabulous place in Kyoto and this only highlighted the inadequacies of this place. Getting to the apartment is complex enough that their best solution is to meet at the Grand Hyatt. We appreciated the door entry system in Kyoto which accommodated our late arrival. Entry here requires a key and meeting at a hotel. When we arrived we were surprised there were no pillowcases or bedsheets. Guests in the past must have slept right on the futons and futon pillows. Our girls spent sometime cleaning out the hair on the futons. The futons were comfortable enough but the floor mats the kids slept on were painful. The Mac and wifi were very nice to have. Though I should warn people to erase the browser history on the Mac as we found several people had logged onto the machines and saved their usernames and passwords. Another problem is that there aren't chairs and table large enough to eat a meal. We ate on the futons with our meals on a small coffee table and tv stand. The size of the bathroom reminded us of an airplane bathroom and just as clean. For a family of five, sharing one bathroom was difficult. I'm not sure why the previous reviewers give rave reviews for cleanliness. I read those and was disappointed. Therefore I felt compelled to share our experiences.
Owner's Response: Dear Peter-san,

Thank you for the kind and fair review, and sorry it was just adequate enough for you and your family. If you were having any trouble during your stay, as you kindly noted - we try to respond to guest requests at check in. And we would have continued to try to respond to each of your requests on a daily basis: additional dining table, more chairs, and additional bedding / futon in the tatami room for your kids. We even have spare tempur mattresses for guests with bad backs or any trouble sleeping.

Thanks also for your feedback I am informing our cleaning lady to extra clean and sanitize the futon mats and bath unit for all future guests. I'll also lay out additional sheets and towels to cover and sanitize all the bedding. We take all feedback especially cleanliness seriously and usually have the apt serviced cleaned by a professional twice a week. If you needed / wanted additional cleaning all you needed to do was email me or call during your stay. But I appreciate your feedback now and sharing your experiences and understand that a family of five is different from the previous guests we had stay. As you noted because of the ideal location our guests have been single, younger and do not have kids.

It is important that guests simply express their needs / wants and we try to provide the additional attention to make your stay the best possible. I provide the option; japanese style dining or western kitchen table / chairs.

As you noted, I will also erase browser history on the mac. I think the bath unit is as pictured and should be no surprise.

As for the check-in procedure, because we have many different types of guests stay here and each layout is a little different - I prefer the initial meeting, inspection, and confirmation that the room meets your needs. Moreover I am concerned for guests' safety in the case of an earthquake / power outage - as Tokyo still anticipates a major quake to hit - there are specific instructions and emergency protocol that guests need to be aware of.

If anything else comes to mind or I missed anything - to improve guest's stay and it would help recommend us to friends - please feel free to post more or email me directly.

Thanks again for your feedback and again sincere apologies your stay was only adequate despite our efforts to respond to all your expressed requests.

5-star Accomodation in a Top-notch neighborhood!

5 of 5
Submitted: June 9, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
From Narita Airport, we took the Keisei Skyliner to Ueno and then switched trains to Azabu-Juban via the Namboku line [cheapest and just as fast as Narita Express]. Brian and I had a slight hiccup at the meeting place as apparently, there were a lot of exits for each station (there were 7, we were supposed to meet at exit 4, but the family went out at exit 7) but we eventually found each other and we went to their place right away.

When we arrived at the place, we were greeted my the sweet smell of vanilla, the three adjectives that immediately came to my mind were warm, cozy and comfortable. The living room was spacious enough to accommodate 4-5 people or even up to 7 without any luggage. We asked Mami and Brian for two extra futons since there was going to be 6 of us who would be staying for 8 days. Our setup was, 3 people sleeping in the tatami room and three would sleep at the living room. Frankly, we were very comfortable and didnt felt cramped at all, so much so that we even slept in until noon, twice!

They also provided a full refrigerator, a toaster and a microwave (which was very useful when we went out to buy food, mostly bento boxes, at any of the two supermarkets nearby). And a stove with a mini oven underneath if ever we wanted to cook something on our own. There were plates and dishes included plus a really huge sink to boot!

The place also came with a big iMac that had a really fast internet connection, so it made for researching for travel ITs really easy, and the whole place had wifi, there were 5 of us who used the connection at the same time and we had no problem at all.

Finally, the place was really beautiful being located at one of Tokyo's finest and richest neighborhoods, (luxury cars everywhere!) you'd get the feeling that you were someone really important, walking amongst the classy people in the neighborhood. Also, it was just a short walk from the subway station from which point, can take you virtually anywhere.

All in all we really enjoyed staying at this place and was really glad that we opted to go for this rather than a cramped expensive hotel. This really made us feel like we were really LIVING IN TOKYO.

Best Regards to Brian and Mami! We hope to come back soon!

Owner's Response: Dear Tristan, thanks for the kind and detailed review. Again sincere apologies on the confusion and delay in getting you and your family checked in. Thanks to your experience we now recommend first time visitors to take the Limousine Bus to Grand Hyatt Roppongi and to meet there. We also provide 2 back up phone numbers in case the main line does not connect.

You are always welcome as our guests and hope we can visit you in the Philippines in the near future!
