This Galveston beach bungalow style house was built in the 1930’s and sometime during the 1940’s it was divided up into several 1 bedroom ‘shotgun’ style apartments.
The house, Oasis, now has three beautiful but distinctly different apartments, each one took on their own personality and feel as we restored and furnished them.
We referred to apartment #2 as 'Hemisphere Dreamer'
Hemisphere Dreamer has amazing natural lighting and faces the seawall so it gets the wonderful sea breezes. The front porch is the perfect place to have a morning coffee as you watch the sunrise over the water or relax in the cool evening breeze with a cocktail or lemon aid. You may find you get so relaxed that you don’t really want to drive anywhere for dinner, which is no problem, because there are several restaurants and bars and the Pleasure Pier within walking distance.
You will find the apartment perfectly located for all the island’s activities.

My husband and I stayed in this cute shotgun apartment to attend our Nephew's graduation. It was a perfect location with easy access to everything that we did.
We utilized the front porch on several occasions, cocktails in the evening and coffee in the morning. It provided a nice view and had the gulf breeze keeping the bugs away and the temperature comfortable.
Parking was easy with the residential parking pass provided. The neighborhood was safe. This was a great value as we had more privacy and room than others in our group that stayed at local hotels for about the same $$.
Check-in and out was super easy.
The apartment had everything that we needed. Kitchen equipped nicely, though we didn't really cook any meals in this trip. Plenty of towels. Everything was super clean. The only drawback for me personally was the pillows were a little lumpy. I am picky though and usually bring my own but forgot this time.
We would definitely stay here again!
We came for a girls weekend. This unit (apartment) is really quaint. It's a shotgun with hardwood floors. Front and rear entrances. The petit kitchen is bright and accommodating. Out the rear door & down a flight is stairs is a positively tropical and private courtyard. The front porch is shared with the adjoining unit however everyone is respectful about sharing as it has a great view of the water. If you have kiddos there is a park at the end of the block. This unit is within walking distance the sea wall, and many restaurants, and bars. We felt safe here which is a plus. A bonus is the outdoor shower for rinsing after a trip to the beach. Karen was a great hostess as always. You will not want to go back to that hotel life after staying here. An excellent value!
First, the apartment: Tastefully decorated with a living room large enough to accommodate a small family - A great master bedroom and nice bathroom shower tub / combo. Very nice kitchen, gas stove, etc. The owner had shampoo, conditioner, basic cooking supplies and utensils, plenty of towels (even for the beach), and books to browse. Also, everything seemed cleaned, even the bedsheets, which at other places may not actually feel like they've seen a washer anytime recently. In other words, great extras and a really great apartment for a couple but also a bit more room if you have a couple of kids. Next, the location: If you want to take in the tourist sites of Galveston, you can get there by foot. It is close to restaurants, entertainment, the pleasure pier, and the gulf. If you can walk a couple of blocks, you're set. It's just far enough from the seawall and the attractions that you don't get a lot of noise. If you want a quiet, semi-private stretch of beach to walk or swim, you'll need a car. The owner: Seems very nice. Responded to my emails quickly. Although I never met her face to face, there really was no need; everything we needed to know what communicated through email or phone. She also allowed a small dog to unexpectedly stay in the apartment for a few hours, which was helpful. The price: Seems very reasonable considering what you would pay for a hotel room or condo that is far less personable. Although the fees may seem a little high. Overall: We will be back when next we're in Galveston. I would definitely recommend to stay here if you have a couple of people who want a little getaway.
The apartment was nice and clean with updated and pleasant decor. The natural light and feel of the place was wonderful! The space was large enough to accommodate our 2 adults and 2 older children, and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare simple meals. The location was fantastic! We could see the beach from the porch, as well as the Pleasure Pier. The seawall and Pier were only a 1 block walk away :) The flowering plants and the courtyard were a wonderful atmospheric boost, and we loved being able to pick some of the best figs we have ever had! This was just what our family needed and we will stay again.
Stayed here two nights - it was perfect for me and my nephew. It is two blocks from the Pleasure Pier and Seawall. Comfortable place to stay - much better than a hotel room. Close drive to other Galveston destinations.
Mother-daughter weekend and my 15-year-old hound dog tagged along. We stayed on the "right" side of the house. Comfy and well appointed. Owner was extremely helpful and arrived with two flashlights (and fresh batteries) when the electricity went off unexpectedly due to nearby construction, but it was back on in a few minutes. Also responded immediately when a propane heater went on the blink. Kitchen could use measuring cups and spoons, but otherwise had all the basics. Will return and try the "left" side next time.
You will find the apartment perfectly located for all the island’s activities. A block away is the Historic Pleasure Pier, beach and seawall, and since you can see the water from the porch you will know right away if you should take your surf board or fishing pole. In the opposite direction, downtown is less than 2 miles away. It’s a healthy walk or pleasant bike ride through the beautiful Silk Stocking district. Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn Waterpark are less than 15 mins drive away.
