SEA GLASS AT SAPPHIRE....RENOVATED 2012! BEACHFRONT!!!

East End Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, Studio + Convertible bed, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Stunning views of gorgeous Sapphire Beach and St. John! Bright aqua blue water right outside your door. The sound of ocean waves against the shore, constant breezes blowing through the palm trees. Welcome to paradise! FREE WIFI!!! FREE lounge chairs and snorkel gear at Dive In dive shop, on site!

What makes Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina so special? It is located directly on one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. The water must be 15 shades of blue! You are literally right on the sand, and you can see the beautiful blue water from all places in the condo, even in the bed! Some of the other places we have stayed did not have as nice a beach, did not have the great breezes, or did not have good snorkeling. We have it all here! It is located close to the Red Hook ferry, so it is easy to get to St John or the British Virgin Islands. We are close to some great restaurants and grocery stores at Red Hook. Walk to the marina on site and take a day sail to St John or a powerboat trip to the British Virgin Islands, or rent jet skis

Enjoy tropical drinks and a burger or mahi sandwich at the Banana Cabana located on the beach, open during the day for lunch and snacks. The full kitchen allows us to buy groceries and eat breakfast and some other meals in the room, saving time and money. The dive shop on site rents snorkeling equipment and kayaks. The views of St John and the British Virgin Islands are world class. We have stayed in many resorts and villas throughout the US and British Virgin Islands, and we kept coming back to Sapphire Beach Resort. If you want a full-service resort with several restaurants, this is not the place for you. If you want to have an incredible view right on a world-famous beach, this is it!

What makes this unit so wonderful? We just purchased this condo in Spring 2012, and we completely renovated it! The bathroom has been completely renovated and has a new tile shower, new tile floor, new cabinets and granite countertops. New HEAVENLY King Mattress and box springs, new high thread-count linens, new queen sleeper sofa, new patio furniture, fresh paint and new light fixtures! New dinnerware and accessories! New appliances and kitchenware. Sapphire Beach Resort has 5 Buildings that are on the beach--A,B,C,D and E. My husband and I have stayed in almost every building, and the thing we love about the E building is that it offers spectacular views of the crystal blue water as well as direct views of St John and the British Virgin Islands. It is also more private than some of the other buildings, as several of the buildings are on the busier 'main' beach. Here, you can enjoy the activities on the main beach and then come back to the privacy of your condo when you are ready to chill. One of my favorite things about being in the E building is watching the twinkling lights on St John at night...absolutely magical!

We love to snorkel, and some of our favorite snorkeling is right outside the door! We regularly see turtles and rays in the grass bed in the middle of Sapphire Beach, and the reef on both sides and around the point between the C and D building...Prettyklip Point...is beautiful! It is quite a show of purple fans, yellow elkhorn and other coral, and lots of beautiful fish! I have even seen a spotted eagle ray here! We can give you some great recommendations for snorkeling spots on St John and in the BVIs as well.

There are many great restaurants throughout St Thomas and St John, and we have listed some of our favorites in our Information Book at the condo.

How to get here: We are located near Red Hook on the East End of St Thomas. From the airport, you can rent a car or take a taxi to Sapphire Beach. We prefer having a car so we can take the car ferry to St John. If you want to take a car to St John for the day, be sure to check with the rental car company...not all of them allow you to take the cars to St John.

We want your experience to be as magical for you as it has been for us!

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
This was our 2nd stay at Sea Glass at Sapphire Beach and we absolutely love the place. Phil and Angela are excellent hosts and offer plenty of advice to help you find things and have a great stay. Everything was clean and ready for relaxation when we arrived. The views from this place are just incredible. I can't stop looking at the water from the patio. One of my favorite things to do at Sea Glass is watch the sunrise every morning. It's always beautiful. It rises right in the center of your view of St John and Tortola from your patio seat. It's great with coffee! You get a front row seat to a spectacular beginning of your day. It's well worth the effort. We really enjoy Fish Tails and Island Time Pub in Red Hook. Fish Tails has the best Seafood we've found and it's so convenient. We ate there twice and it was great both times. Island Time Pub pizza is outstanding. Nice relaxing atmosphere as well. We spent more time on St John on this trip than we were able to last time and that was great. We like browsing around and eating in the shops and dining areas of Mongoose Junction. We ate at The Ocean Grill and Deli Grotto a couple of times each. Good stuff! We also discovered a new place called Rhumb Lines that was outstanding. It's an oriental fusion Thai kind of place and the food was fantastic. It seemed to be the trendy place to be but was still a laid back atmosphere like anywhere on St John. We snorkeled a few places and found a bunch of Sea Turtles grazing in the shallow waters of Maho Bay. That was fun! I was determined to find turtles on this trip and wasn't disappointed. My favorite overall place to snorkel was right there at Sapphire Beach. There is plenty to see if you are experienced, and it's a good place to learn how if you are a beginner. Our favorite Day of our trip was a Day-Sail trip to the British Virgin Islands on the Breakaway, located right next door in the Sapphire Beach marina. I can't imagine going back to the Islands and NOT taking at least one day-sail somewhere. It's the best way to see a lot of stuff in a short time. We will definitely be going back to Sea Glass as soon as we get another opportunity. It's located in the most convenient location we could ask for on St Thomas. Everything we like is nearby. Thanks Phil and Angela!

RETURN TO EQUILIBRIUM

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I felt we needed to decompress from our daily activities during spring break. After seeing the photos and description of Sea Glass at Sapphire, we knew we would find the relief we were looking for here.
Upon arrival, everything was exactly as shown and portrayed. We were even lucky enough to find the condo available to us one hour early without any extra charge. When opening the door we were greeted by a refreshing smell. The air-conditioned room temperature was very pleasant and the property was immaculately clean.

The internet access was not available right away but the owner's immediate response via txt gave me clear instructions how to reset the router which took care of the issue. This was a typical example of how reachable and helpful Phil and Angela always were.

Don't overpack! Whatever your eating out dinner plans are: Dress code is casual. All the places you will eat at in Red Hook will only require shorts and a t-shirt or button down short sleeve shirt, whatever you prefer (for a man) and for women, shorts and a top or a slip on casual summer dress. We ate out every night and our favorites were:Fish Tails, and Latitude 18 in Red Hook. Disappointed by preparation of red snapper and service at Molly Malone.

Taking the ferry to St. John and eating in one of the Cruz Bay restaurants after a few hours swimming and snorkeling is a must.

Just keep in mind that most places accept VISA or cash but not AmEx!

We returned home after one week with our batteries charged and would recommend to choose Sea Glass at Sapphire for anybody who wants some quiet and relaxation.

PERFECT LOCATION, GREAT VIEWS

  • 5 of 5
This condo was perfect for us. The location of building E had the best views of St John all lit up at night but also for the sunrise in the mornings! Being on the second floor was great too as you can open the patio door while you sleep and hear the waves and have the ocean breeze. It's away from the most people traffic, not that there is much. The pool was a great option to sit at and cool off, rinse the salt water off. Relaxing and awesome view. We would go to the pool after enjoying the beach which was really a great beach and we had visited quite a few beaches beforehand on at Thomas and St John. If you have a condo on Sapphire it is the best beach to be.
The bed was very comfortable and the condo had everything we needed. The maid Keisha who is very nice, came mid stay to exchange towels and clean.
There is a great food truck "Off the Grid" in walking distance that is very reasonably priced and very tasty Bbq food and also "Sapphire Grille" you can walk to over by the marina, it has regular pub food.
The snorkelling at Sapphire Beach was amazing! We saw many sea turtles and spotted eagle rays, the coral was awesome too. We had toured St John and snorkelled there but we were most impressed with Sapphire Beach.
We rented a jeep for the first 3 days so we could tour the island and get groceries. We actually loved the driving once we got used to driving on the left, just need to remind the driver once in awhile. The grocery stores are a short drive. We only really needed the jeep for a couple of days. We had breakfast and lunch at condo and most dinners out. Redhook is only a 5 minute drive away. Taxi's are on site and you can always take the dollar bus which stops frequently at the top of the hill.
Angela and Phil were great, they provide a lot of information on restaurants and beaches and are available for you anytime via text or phone call if you had a question. The wifi worked great all the time as well, I'm one if those who love to share my pictures on Facebook ;)
We defiantly are planning our return!

GREAT LOCATION, GORGEOUS BEACH

  • 5 of 5
Phil and Angela were easy to work with, and the condo was nicely appointed. As other reviewers have mentioned, the resort isn't particularly resort-like at the moment. The restaurant, pool bar, and dive shop have closed down. If that was what we were looking for, though, we would have just stayed at the Marriott. The closing of the dive shop seems to have deterred cruise ship crowds, leaving a gorgeous beach for Sapphire Beach guests to enjoy. The condo association provides beach chairs and the Banana Cabana Grill provides food and beverage service to your chair, so we had all we needed. We took a fun day trip to BVI, but the best snorkeling we found was right there at Sapphire Beach, where we saw numerous sea turtles, rays, and, of course, beautiful fish around the reef.
As a party of 3 adults, we had enough space. 4 adults might have been a bit much, as the pull-out sofa is, well, a pull-out sofa...rather uncomfortable for more than a night, but the couch itself is plush and roomy enough for a single adult to sleep comfortably.
We rented a car, but honestly didn't use it much. (The Hertz location at the resort has closed down, by the way). Taxis were readily available and the fare into Red Hook was only $4 pp. Next time we visit we won't bother with the car.

VERY WELL-MAINTAINED PLACE ON THE BEACH

  • 5 of 5
Our first and third times at Sapphire Beach -- and this unit was as good as the other units, and even better for breakfast! What you see on these photos is what you're going to get upon arrival: a clean and nicely appointed unit. Although we would have been happy in a more standard flat, it was nice to see that the owners are taking extremely good care of their property.
Staying in this building is a little further from the main beach, but the mornings are spectacular, and it is very quiet. The small beach right outside the building is somewhat rocky, and we were happy to stroll down to the main beach to swim and lounge on the sand. Overall, it was a great, relaxing and very comfortable vacation. We would definitely recommend staying in this studio.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay! When you say the beach in front of the E building is rocky, I assume you mean once you enter the water. It is sand from the condo building to the ocean. :)

GREAT CONDO, GREAT LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at Sea Glass at Sapphire for our anniversary in Nov 2013. It was fantastic! The condo is just as described, and well appointed. The ocean is less than 20ft from the balcony. You can hear the waves crash at night! The location is one of the best on the island and the snorkeling was great! You can rent gear from the dive shop very affordably. The owners were very quick to respond to any questions we had, and pleasant to deal with.

My tips to travelers:
Rent a Jeep, not a car. We had a car and the roads were brutal on it.
Take a full day (or even two days) trip over to St. John, it is Beautiful!
