What makes Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina so special? It is located directly on one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. You are literally steps from the beach with an amazing coral reef and great snorkeling! We have tried many other places, but none had as pretty a beach, the great breezes, or such great snorkeling right outside our door. With the marina at the resort and the ferry from Red Hood close by, it is perfect for island hopping to St John or the British Virgin Islands. Enjoy tropical drinks and a burger or mahi sandwich at the Banana Cabana located on the beach, open during the day for lunch and snacks. The dive shop on site rents snorkeling equipment and kayaks. The views of St John and the British Virgin Islands are simply spectacular! If you want to have a spacious, comfortable suite with an incredible view right on a stunningly beautiful beach, this is it!

What makes Sea Glass at Sapphire (E206) so wonderful? We purchased this condo in 2012 and have renovated and updated almost everything in the condo! It sleeps up to 4. We want your family to be comfortable, so we have NEW HEAVENLY BED KING MATTRESS AND BOX SPRINGS, NEW queen sofa sleeper (which is comfortable!), NEW oversized chair, NEW patio table and chairs, NEW refrigerator, NEW smooth top range, NEW Biltmore 600 and 800 thread count linens, DKNY bath linens, Tommy Bahama beach towels, dinnerware with embossed shells, new flatware, new patio tableware, new rugs, new light fixtures including ceiling fans, new lamps and COMPLETELY RENOVATED BATHROOM. The bathroom has a new tile shower, pebble accents, new tile floors, and granite countertops. The unit has been freshly painted throughout! Sapphire Beach Resort has 5 Buildings that are on the beach--A,B,C,D and E. My husband and I have stayed in every building, and the thing we love about the E building is that it offers spectacular views of the turquoise blue water as well as direct views of St John and the British Virgin Islands. It is also more private than some of the other buildings, as several of the buildings are on the busier 'main' beach. Here, you can enjoy the activities on the main beach and then come back to the privacy of your condo when you are ready to chill. One of my favorite things about being in the E building is watching the twinkling lights on St John at night...absolutely magical!

All of the first and second floor units at Sapphire Beach Resort are suites, while the third and fourth floors are the two-story units. We feel some of the advantages that the second floor units have compared to the first floor units are better views and more privacy.

We love the snorkeling here! We regularly see turtles and rays in the grass bed in the middle of Sapphire Beach, and the reef on both sides and around the point is breathtakingl! It is quite a show of purple fans, yellow corals, and beautiful fish! I have even seen a spotted eagle ray here! We can give you some great recommendations for snorkeling spots on St John and in the BVIs as well.

The living area features a queen sleeper sofa, oversized chair, coffee table, entertainment unit, flat screen tv, and a full kitchen. The sliding glass doors off of the living area open onto the spacious patio with lounge chairs and dining table for four. The living area has a DVD player and a DVD collection, and we have an IPOD dock. BEACH TOWELS ARE PROVIDED.

There are many great restaurants throughout St Thomas and St John, and we have listed some of our favorites in our Information Book at the condo.

About Phil Carson

We live in Greenville, South Carolina and have three children...two boys and a girl. I am a real estate agent, and my husband is an engineer. We love to travel, and Sapphire Beach is our favorite! Click on the satellite link on the map below to see the water colors and the reefs at Sapphire!

Phil Carson purchased this condo in 2012

Why Phil Carson chose East End

We fell in love with Sapphire Beach Resort the first time we stepped onto the white sands in 2004. We have visited many resorts throughout the US and British Virgin Islands, but Sapphire has always been our favorite. It was our dream to own a place here!

What makes this condo unique

We love being able to snorkel every day right outside of the condo, hanging out in a lounge chair on the beach, and being able to see the turquoise water from every vantage point in the room! We love going over to St John on the car ferry (only a mile down the road) and snorkeling different places there. We enjoy the local food at Gladys' Cafe, and Iggie's is one of our favorite places to eat. We love exploring the British Virgin Islands, too! The Baths are a must see! There are many great snorkeling spots in the British Virgin Islands as well.

Beauty in paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the VI's, and we couldn't have picked a more perfect location. Falling asleep and awakening to the rhythm of the Caribbean Sea outside our balcony set the mood for relaxing, but adventurous days. (And the bed was truly comfortable-very important!). Just sitting on the deck and enjoying the view of the sea and islands was perfection in itself. Location was also terrific for our stay: Red Hook ferry just a short taxi/safari ride away and even our foray to Linbergh Bay for kayaking and snorkeling was an easy 30 minute ride. We were the envy of our friends, also staying on St Thomas, when our dinner cruise originated from the Sapphire Marina, just outside our back door. The condo contained everything we needed for our stay, even a beach bag when we forgot ours. And Phil graciously allowed us a late checkout when our return flight was changed. We give the entire experience the highest recommendation.

Perfection in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 and my parents spent a fantastic week in Sea Glass (E-206) and Sail Away (E-205). It was a return trip to Sapphire Beach for my husband and me although we stayed in a different E building condo last time. As expected from our last trip, this location did not disappoint! Sapphire Beach is THE best location in St. Thomas as it is conveniently centralized to anywhere you want to go (St. John, BVIs, Magens Bay, etc) with Red Hook just a mile away. If you like to sit on a beautiful beach? It's steps away. If you love to snorkel the day away? It's right there. If you love water sports of all kinds? Yep. That too. Accessibility aside, the views...the views are the best in the whole of the US and British Virgin Islands (in my opinion). I think you can see 11 islands from the balcony. Maybe more. All of these reasons are why we came back to the same spot we fell in love with 18 months ago. We love to travel the planet and I find it difficult to justify traveling to the same place more than once with all of the incredible little places we have yet to visit, but there is something special about the USVIs and we'll undoubtedly always find ourselves back to this dreamy place. You know you're in a great place when cruise ship passengers are sad to leave and would rather be staying at Sapphire. As for the condos, they have everything you could need and they are beautifully appointed. The pictures are exactly what you can expect when you walk through the door. Deb and Phil are fantastic to work with and very welcoming. We feel like we have a home away from home now when we travel to the USVIs in the future. Happy travels and if you're lucky enough to find this property available for your trip-- book it. You won't regret it! :)

Owner's Response: WOW!!! Thank you for this awesome review!! I completely agree with you about the beach, the views and the location. I don't like to go the same place twice, but we fell in love with Sapphire 12 years ago, and we love it more every time we go! Please come back and stay with us!!!

Great choice!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and I just returned from our stay in Sea Glass and couldn't be more satisfied. Everything was just as described. Angela has great taste! The E bldg was fine for us...the chair attendants placed our chairs wherever we wanted on any given day. The whole beach is beautiful! We rented a car because we could see the taxi fares adding up since we do like to explore, but taxis were readily available. The amenities in the condo were great and much appreciated...the coolers and xtra beach chairs were great when we went to various beaches and St John. The location is perfect for taking any excursions as they all leave right from the marina, which is right at the end of our parking lot. After exploring a lot of the island, we would definitely stay here again. Phil and Angela were great hosts and we appreciated all the tips and info they have us beforehand.

Views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for our 30th birthday celebrations last month. The decorating is top notch and the views are unbelievable. I could just sit on that balcony all day. We also enjoyed laying by the pool and watching the boats go in and out of the marina and thru the channels. It was nice to have the blender- we mixed rum, ice, and mango/orange juice every night for a fun treat. :)

The location is a little difficult as we didn't rent a car and there were few food options nearby. This complex does not have any amenities or anything that a resort might have. It's pretty quiet and really only made for relaxing. At the entrance to the condo (at the top of a steep hill) there was a BBQ food truck- amazing food, highly recommend. At the condo itself, there were a couple girls under a tent selling some burgers, beers, etc. Senior Pizza delivered (which was actually really good!) Other than that, you needed to go into Redhook for food. We got groceries the first day (very pricey) and then got a taxi ride a few times to go out.

Highly recommend the dinner sail out of the marina. They took good care of us- food and drinks were yummy and plentiful.

The advice book in the condo indicated they were members of the surf shop that provided free snorkel equipment, but when I inquired about that, the surf shop guy said that ended over 1 year ago, and that we would have to purchase our rentals. I thought it would've been nice if the owners had a couple sets of snorkel gear for their guests to use.

There were no toiletries at all, so you have to bring all of those. (we didn't bring any soap!- oops) They completely emptied out the cupboards and fridge prior to our stay so there were no condiments or coffee or anything like that. The only reason I mention this is several of the VRBO places we have stayed tend to keep things like salt, pepper, condiments, leftover coffee, etc from the previous guests, so we don't each have to buy these brand new. No big deal though.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Great communication, awesome location. The condo is off the main beach so you won't be bombarded with tons of crowds. There is also a marina right next to the condo for tours, so you can wake up and go. Taxis are always at the main office for you to hitch a ride into town. Wake up and go to sleep to the nice ocean sound. Enjoy the sunrise and sunset with views of St. John. What is not to love about this location!

Vacation perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We visited St Thomas for my wife's 50th birthday. We picked Sea Glass as our home base for the week and couldn't be happier with the choice. The condo is very spacious for its size and the interior is cozy and charming. Everything was clean and well maintained. The "beachy" decor was perfect for the gorgeous oceanfront view.

We really enjoyed building E as it was away from the busy part of the beach. It felt very secluded and private. We are avid stand-up paddleboarders and rented boards for the week. We paddled at Sapphire Beach, Frenchman's Reef near the Marriott, Brewer's Beach and Hull Bay. Loved every minute!

We also snorkeled a lot at Sapphire. The reef is beautiful and there is a lot to see. Plenty of turtles and rays as well as reef tropicals.

Red Hook is just down the street with plenty of restaurants and bar options. We had a blast at Duffy's and Molly Malone's. We also went to Iggy's at Bolongo Bay about three times. Great food and beachfront vibe.

We spent a day on the Second Wind yacht charter and had an amazing day with Capt Wolfgang, Jeff and Nikki. Great food, drink and great options for places to swim, snorkel and dive. Highly recommend a day with them if you want to be spoiled on a 57' cruiser!

We also took the ferry over to St John for a day trip and really enjoyed it as well.

So much to explore and we feel we barely scratched the surface! We will definitely be back and Sea Glass will be our choice every time (Until we figure out how to move there and get our own place! LOL).

Phil and Angela are a great team and you will have a great experience renting this unit through them. Do not hesitate to book your dates right now!
