The house was gutted and rebuilt in 2005 so much is in working order and it is well kept.
The neighborhood is diverse and low traffic due to the city removal of thoroughfares at 14th and 15th ave.
As is common in south florida, there are no sidewalks but the streets are fine for walking or riding conveyance of your choice.
Trash pick up is twice a week so there is limited accumulation of waste.

'The Drive' hosts many fine dining establishments and Services to make your visit into town fun yet to allows you to return to the quiet and ease of being just outside the din of the Bar Scene. Major supermarket chains such as (the closest) Publix, Whole Foods and Fresh Market are a convenient drive from 1st Ave. The chain Crown Liquors has late hours and is open Holidays while our local Wilton Liquors is very close and always full of great selections of beer, wine and spirits. Just over the bridge Atlantic Coast Kayak Company allows the adventurous a means to enjoy the the Island City from the lush setting of the meandering river.
A simple drive down Andrews the other direction is Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Heading east from Andrews are the more elegant $ervices and upscale dining and shopping of Las Olas Boulevard. (http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/home.htm). In season, there are often Art shows and/or Farmer's Markets down Las Olas Boulevard All the major Banks are the backdrop to charming shops and eateries. From the venerable 'Floridian'-offering heaping plates of Americana to the cutting edge Appetizers and Gorgeous plates at 'Johnny V's' - Las Olas offers a unique experience.
Straight Nightlife Scene:
From Andrews, if you had headed west at SW 2nd Street (turn before Las Olas) the street changes to the Straight 'Drive' Himmarshee Street. The always popular Coyote Ugly (http://www.coyoteuglysaloon.com/) draws great crowds. There are numerous dining options for partygoers such as Himmarshee Grill - which can wet your appetite before heading to the late night scene at the Bars or at Revolution Live.
Just a few blocks past you will hit the Avenue of the Arts - NW 7th Avenue. While being a quick way back to the western boundary of Middle River (and the house) - is a dense cluster of performing arts, entertainment and discovery. All within 5 miles, a drive down Sunrise Boulevard takes you past many conveniences: including, Holiday Park, the Library and the Galleria Mall (http://www.galleriamall-fl.com/). You also pass the Federal Highway Corridor (many more goods/services) just before the Inter-coastal and Atlantic Boulevard (1A). At Sunrise and 1A you are instantly in the middle of Fort Lauderdale Beach. The Greater Miami - Fort Lauderdale Area also has its share who prefer to enjoy the active lifestyle to the bar scene. Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the countries largest and more vibrant Alternative lifestyle Softball, Tennis, Pool and Bowling tournaments and host organizations in the country. Be sure to grab a rag or look at Hot Spots Magazine online to follow the action. The house is very convenient to Mills Pond - the complex where every sunday most of the year, there are men and ladies playing ball. The most notable confluence of tournaments is typically Thanksgiving Weekend.
Cruises, Winter and White Party:
While all that above happening and available year around - you may wonder how it can get any more crazy. In fact, it does. Several times a year the city swells to bust just in time for auspicious occasions like RSVP or Atlantis Cruises. In addition, each March and November see Miami and Fort Lauderdale Swell as the White Party and Winter Party faithful flock to town from all over the world.
