"The Bitterroot" is one of North America's most pristine alpine valleys, and Piquett Creek Ranch is among the area's finest destination locations for relaxing, discovering and enjoying the incredible wilderness, rivers, mountains and wildlife of southwestern Montana.
In the heart of the majestic Bitterroot Mountains just south of Darby, Montana, you'll find the Piquett Creek Ranch. This beautiful, family-owned 400-acre property is located on the banks of the West Fork of the Bitterroot River, surrounded by the Bitterroot National Forest and the magnificent Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
There is never a need to leave the property which includes: golf, tennis, world-class fishing, mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Both houses are fully stocked. Perfect location for families vacations, weddings, or coporate retreats. Riding instruction on the ranch available. Guided fishing trips down on the Bitterroot River are also easily arranged. Best of all, the scenery and quiet allows one to escape and be completely "un-plugged". Town, Darby, is 15 minutes away.
Here's the real Montana. The kind of place you won't have to look hard to spot or even catch some of the abundant wildlife. Piquett Creek, with its numerous beaver ponds, criss-crosses the ranch pastures and meadows. Your kids will enjoy our stocked pond. And with a mile of Bitterroot River frontage to wander without even leaving the ranch, you're sure to find a spot to drop a line and land a trophy specimen for your next big fish story!

We stayed at Piquett Creek Ranch last summer and it was the best vacation our family has ever had. The ranch offers something for everyone: fishing, golf, tennis, rafting. The facilities are first-rate, and the location is amazing. Would recommend it for anyone looking to experience all that Montana has to offer.
Our extended family of 17 people stayed in this vacation rental in August a few years ago for a family reunion, a treat from my mother-in-law. We found it on the internet. We couldn't have made a better choice. Family members from Minnesota, Idaho, California, and Washington all met at the Piquett Ranch. I cannot imagine a better view, a more idyllic setting, or a more magical place to be and relax. We rented the main house, and it's much larger than it appears in the photos. Seven bedrooms & seven bathrooms allowed all four adult couples to have their own bathroom & privacy, and that makes for a happy family. We had five boys (all first cousins) ages 5 - 15, and what a great time they had - tubing in the river, biking, fishing, swinging on the rope over the pond, playing tennis, basketball, golf, hiking and exploring. Bill, the ranch manager, led my 3 sisters-in-law and I on a horse ride early one morning and it was fabulous; we saw a large herd of elk. My brother-in-law went for a hike one day, and snapped a photo of a large moose. The horses are gorgeous and add to the beauty and ambiance. Each couple/family took turns preparing the meals each day. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of seating for a very large family. We especially enjoyed sitting on the large patio, with the weather being absolutely perfect. One night a wind storm came through just as we finished our family dinner, and the electricity went out for a few hours. There were plenty of large candles in the house, and we enjoyed our night of candlelight, sitting around the large round table telling stories and laughing. After the storm, we laid out in the reclining lawn chairs and watched a beautiful meteor shower light up a huge Montana sky. (Did I mention that the famous Bitterroot River borders the property?) We made my mother-in-law a memory book of the trip, and I even made a CD with music with our hundreds of photos. It's truly a week we will all treasure for a lifetime. I wholeheartedly recommend this vacation home and ranch. You truly get a feeling that you are tucked away from all the problems of the world - no phone, no internet, no problem. Montana is truly "the last best place."
Aside from fishing the river and Piquett Creek, there is an acre+ stocked pond on the ranch. There is also a horseback riding insturction area at the barns. Becasue we are surrounded by national forest, there are plenty or roads and trails on which to ride. The tennis court is new; the golf course more for fun than for serious players. Perfect place for nountain biking on logging roads and mountain trails.
