Cosy cottage Stóraborg 4 is located in Borgarfjörður, an hour drive from the capital city, Reykjavík.
Ten minutes drive away from the cottage is a small town, Borgarnes. There you can find all the service you need. Restaurants, supermarkets, shops and museums (The centre for puppets arts, Brúðuheimar and The Icelandic Settlement Centre, Landnámssetur). Borgarnes has also nice sport centre with a swimming pool(heated both indoor and outdoors), hot tubs and a steam bath.
In only seven minutes drive from the cottage is a great 18 hole golf course. Two cottage visitures have free pass to play golf as often as they want. In June and July it is possible to play golf all night long because the summernights are so bright.
This cottage is ideally located if you want to explore the West and/or North-West part of Iceland. Short trips can be made to Grábrók (inactive volcano), Hreðavatn (fishing lake), Glanni (waterfall), Deildartunguhver (geyser), Reykholt (Snorrastofa), Húsafell (cottage area near the glacier Langjökull and the waterfalls Barnafoss and Glymur), Borg á Mýrum, Arnarstapi, Eldborg etc.
Day trips to Snæfellsnes to see National Park Snaefellsjokull, adventure tour to Breiðafjörður and many more intresting places that West part of Iceland has to offer.
Whether you want to play golf, go on horseback, hiking Icelandic mountains, go fishing or just relax in Icelandic nature, everything is possible in this area.
