Incredible Experience

  • 5 of 5
WOW!

It's not often that one becomes so attached to a place - the location, the people, the sights and in this case the home. Just the view alone is magnificent. Sunrise over the water, afternoon breeze, golden sunset, and clear nights. Big Island is a welcoming place, and it feels really nice to be able to go south of the towns and to slightly secluded place.

The service was also fantastic. Both the caretaker and owner are very attentive to the needs of visitors and react immediately to any requests. The home is well equipped and has the latest in everything. We especially enjoyed the proximity to all the beautiful natural wonders that Big Island has to offer.

The home i.e. exactly like the photos, if not even better. We very much appreciate being able to stay here.

Look no further (-: unless we are also trying to reserve this place again at the same time :-)

What a great home on the big island!

  • 5 of 5
This was my family's first trip to Hawaii in over 20 years, and our first trip ever to the Big Island. We couldn't have picked a nicer home for our exploring of this very large area (had no idea the big island was so BIG!). A beautiful home with everything you need to enjoy the tropical paradise. The home is located south of Captain Cook, so you're about 20-30 minutes from Kona. Hookena Beach is three miles down the road, but then it will take you another 10 minutes to travel the final 2 miles down to the access point. But once you're there, enjoy the beautiful water and excellent snorkeling.

Back to the house, great view, lots of fun little gecko lizards to greet you in the morning. A gated road that leads to a gated property giving you a sense of security. A couple of neighbors below (one group is a little rowdy, but it was World Cup time so we'll give them a pass), but other than that very quiet.

Finally, the owners are a pleasure to deal with, as was the caretaker of the property. When we had a problem getting the electronic gate to open, it was solved immediately. Tina thank you for the chance to stay at your wonderful home!

Such a beautiful home! The views are amazing from every room. Fully stocked kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals. Plenty of activities, toy locker with all beach amenities. Centrally located to reach Volcano, South Point, Black Sands Beach, and many more. I highly recommend this property!

Beautiful and private oceanview home

  • 5 of 5
This private home was the best part of our 10 day Hawaii vacation, wish we stayed here more than 8 nights. First 2 restless grueling nights were at a Honolulu -Waikiki hotel, that was not a vacation, crowds, noise, small space.

My two college-age children traveled with my husband and I to celebrate 20th Anniversary. The kids loved having their own room, closet, dresser, and bathroom plus a view of the ocean. The listing was accurate and all amenities were there plus additional bonuses of soaps, shampoos, kitchen extras, travel guides, maps and re-usable grocery bags.

My family loved the private and country location of this home. You will have to drive a couple miles to the beaches....we enjoyed snorkeling, swimming, and kayaking all nearby. Saw dolphins, whales, fish, turtles, geckos, wild turkeys, and the nene. Please do not bother or swim with the dolphins...we just sat in our kayaks and watched them swim around us in Kealakekua Bay. Don't be the annoying kid following the dolphins around!! I would rather stay at this country home versus on a beach or crowded condo anyday, it was great going home to the quiet lanai and yard. The kids actually preferred to stay and read books or use Wi-Fi at the house a couple days instead of going to the beach---a truly relaxing vacation.

Drove to Hilo side....saw southern most tip of U.S., volcanoes, lava tubes, waterfalls, rainforest, mountains...so much to do. Captain Cook has best climate on whole island.

Stop at Costco for bulk groceries, kitchen has spices, condiments, napkins, teas....plus whatever previous person left. Take reusable grocery bags and cooler when you go shopping, no more plastic bags in HI. 3+ fresh local farm fruit stands within couple miles. We tried a dozen new fruits not available in Wisconsin. We attended church at St. John's and have never felt more welcomed...we each received knitted leis and met another vacationing family from Wisconsin.

Owner was easy to work with, no need to contact manager for anything since the property was clean and maintained. I have recommended this property to friends and family already!

Amazing home

  • 5 of 5
This was the first time we had rented a home for our vacation. From the very beginning, the owner was very easy to work with and made the process so easy. Everything about the home was perfect-from the nice furnishings & decor to the well-stocked kitchen and pantry. And it was completely spotless! My 2 boys (ages 4 & 9) enjoyed watching the DVD's and playing the board games that were at the house. We all enjoyed the amazing lanai's and large yard area for the kids to run & play in. The beach gear and body boards that were provided were great! We used them nearly everyday at Ho'okena Beach, which we discovered was the best beach on the Island, and was only 5 miles from the house to the beach parking area. There was an electric gate at the main road and at the driveway to the home, which made us feel completely safe and secure. We had a great time at this amazing home-thank you Tina & family for sharing your little piece of heaven with us!

Beautiful property

  • 5 of 5
The photos depict the property exactly! The feel is like being in the country, especially the view down the hill into adjacent properties. Bird singing, roosters crowing, donkeys braying, wild turkeys gobbling. If only the noise of the road wasn't mixed in, it would be perfect.
We enjoyed staying here a great deal, although there are a few drawbacks. It is about 45 minutes to an hour drive south of Kailua-Kona which makes visiting north beaches a longer drive but heading to the volcanoes and Hilo shorter. Depends on what you want to do. Some in our group (2 couples) found the living room couch very uncomfortable. I, personally, loved it. It's one of those slouchy, sink into, kind of couches. One thing we all wished for was better lighting in the living room area. We weren't tv watchers while there and wanted to read or be on our iPads at night. The lighting is pretty dim for those activities. Perhaps a stand up lamp at either end of the couch would be nice.
That's it! Everything else was superb. The beds were like falling into clouds. The kitchen was better stocked than mine at home and was a joy to cook in, which we did most nights. The beach equipment was top of the line and we enjoyed having beach umbrellas since then any beach was an option, if we didn't have to worry about shade. The views from the decks at all hours were wonderful. I loved sitting outside in the mornings with coffee and papaya and watching the geckos come out into the sun. We had a "pet" spider that stayed in its web the entire two weeks we were there. We occasionally fed it moths. The space in the house was great for two couples to spread out in without feeling like we were in each others' ways.
We traveled both north to many favorite beaches and south to Hilo and the volcano park and the black sand beach. We walked on lava for a twilight view of the flows into the ocean, definitely the most strenuous activity of our two week stay.
The owners were very pleasant to deal with and extremely prompt with everything. The caretakers equally so. We had one instance when the gate to the house wouldn't work. We called the caretakers and they both arrived within ten minutes. A short in the circuit fixed quickly.
I would stay here again in a second!
