Great location & house for those wanting to kick back & enjoy the local area but still be close enough to do all the things there are on the Big Island.
My entire group of five agreed that we would happily live in this house for the rest of our lives. It was definitely more luxury living than we expected. The view was *incredible*, the house was equipped with everything we need, and the kitchen was great for making dinners and breakfasts together as a group. It had the basics for cooking supplies, like cooking oils, pans, cutting boards, silverware, etc.
We also loved that the house came with boogie boards, floaty noodles, and snorkling gear. We had a jaw dropping snorkling experience, and we couldn't believe that it was free since we got to use the gear from the house.
Tina had very fast responses throughout the process and was great to deal with. I am so happy we picked this house... I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in it.
What a surprise when we walked into the home. Everything is as nice or nicer then in the description and pictures. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for the Kona vacation experience. The snorkeling at Hookena is amazing. The wild turkeys in the yard, and cattle roaming the street!
We will be back!
Aloha! It has been a fabulous week here with friends. Got my snorkel legs back on, thanks to lots of help at Hookena Beach. The kayak ride allowed me to see the lava tubes/vent holes on the cliffs there. A local man (with a beard that would make Santa's seem quite small) makes brooms (called a tete) made from the spines of Palm leaves that are on the beach. He sweeps the walks and lava rock walls every morning. The house geckos are sorry to see us leave, as we spoiled them with fresh papaya every morning. What a terrific, relaxing way to get a real feel of Hawaii island life!! Mahalo and Aloha - until the next time we meet!
It's not often that one becomes so attached to a place - the location, the people, the sights and in this case the home. Just the view alone is magnificent. Sunrise over the water, afternoon breeze, golden sunset, and clear nights. Big Island is a welcoming place, and it feels really nice to be able to go south of the towns and to slightly secluded place.
The service was also fantastic. Both the caretaker and owner are very attentive to the needs of visitors and react immediately to any requests. The home is well equipped and has the latest in everything. We especially enjoyed the proximity to all the beautiful natural wonders that Big Island has to offer.
The home i.e. exactly like the photos, if not even better. We very much appreciate being able to stay here.
Look no further (-: unless we are also trying to reserve this place again at the same time :-)
This was my family's first trip to Hawaii in over 20 years, and our first trip ever to the Big Island. We couldn't have picked a nicer home for our exploring of this very large area (had no idea the big island was so BIG!). A beautiful home with everything you need to enjoy the tropical paradise. The home is located south of Captain Cook, so you're about 20-30 minutes from Kona. Hookena Beach is three miles down the road, but then it will take you another 10 minutes to travel the final 2 miles down to the access point. But once you're there, enjoy the beautiful water and excellent snorkeling.
Back to the house, great view, lots of fun little gecko lizards to greet you in the morning. A gated road that leads to a gated property giving you a sense of security. A couple of neighbors below (one group is a little rowdy, but it was World Cup time so we'll give them a pass), but other than that very quiet.
Finally, the owners are a pleasure to deal with, as was the caretaker of the property. When we had a problem getting the electronic gate to open, it was solved immediately. Tina thank you for the chance to stay at your wonderful home!
