Welcome to beautiful South Bavaria! We offer a luxurious residence in a historical building constructed in the year 1900. Our castle, called Grafenburg, is located in the scenic Bavarian village of Oberaudorf, right on the Bavarian-Austrian border. Its location is more than spectacular: on the South side you have an unobstructed view to the impressive scenery of the Austrian Alps (Zahmer and Wilder Kaiser) and the Bavarian and Austrian Inn valley. On the backside of the building you find an idyllic mountain lake. Despite of this unique location the center of Oberaudorf where you can buy everyday commodities is in walking distance.
The Autobahn (highway) A93, exit Oberaudorf, is only 3 minutes away. The distance to Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Kitzbühel is only 80 km (50 miles)
Our spacious and very quiet Residence Zahmer Kaiser (136 qm, 1463 sq.ft.) is located on the 2nd floor of the historical building Grafenburg (there is an elevator).
In the residence there is a huge combined living/dining room that leads out onto two wonderful South facing balconies, with the most spectacular views of the Inn Valley and the Austrian Alps. The dining room is connected to a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and top German appliances from Siemens, double fridge with ice maker/crusher, oven, ceramic glass cooktop, exhaust hood, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, electric juicer, filter coffee machine. The master bedroom has a king bed and an en-suite bath with bathtub and separate shower, two sinks and a toilet. This bedroom is equipped with a minibar. From these two rooms you look out to our lake Luegsteinsee. The 2nd bedroom has two beds that can be separate or together. The bathroom is also en-suite. This bathroom has a shower, two sinks, toilet and washing machine with dryer. From this bedroom and bathroom you have the spectacular view to the Alps. Grafenburg Castle now hosts a museum-like art gallery focused on OLD MASTERS and a French champagne bar. You can spend an ART VACATION with us. Besides our own museum we take you to the famous museums in Munich.

The famous castles of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein and Herrenchiemsee can also easily be reached.

Grafenburg Castle was much more than we had expected. Our experience with the owner was excellent! She went out of her way to help us coordinate our stay at her home with our stay in Munich for the "Oktoberfest". On driving up to this lovely castle with a spectacular view, we were greeted by the Keyholder. This pleasant woman, showed us up to our beautiful apartment and explained everything we needed to know about the amenities within the apartment. She also gave us verbal ideas for sightseeing and dining places within the community. We found that a welcome gift of champagne with awaiting us in the full size refrigerator. The two bedroom, two bath unit was certainly more than we expected. The apartment was done very tastefully in soft colors that were very appealing as you could then enjoy the art and music that was in the apartment to enjoy. The porch off the back of the castle had a view that left you speechless. We sat there every night and watched the sun set over the Austrian Alps. As for side trips, we enjoyed Neuschwanstein Castle, Oberammergau, Bavaria and Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria. What a wonder hidden secret this castle is. We are hoping to return in September 2016 so we can continue to explore the wonders surrounding Grafenburg. One last item, do take the time and meet the "doorkeeper".
The reviews speak for themselves. We had a wonderful time at the Grafenburg Castle. Everything was as advertised. All questions were answered and an information package was send to us before arrival. The apartment is very cozy and functional. Oberaudorf is an cozy place with great landscape , sight seen and amazing restaurants. Austria is on your backyard. We spent New Years eve at the Castle and left 8 days latter. Highly recommended and definitely worthy to came back. I would like to thank the Grafenburg owners for "sharing" this wonderful place with us.
I cannot begin to say how much our family (2 adults, children ages 9 and 8) enjoyed our stay at Grafenburg. The reservation process was easy and straightforward, the staff was friendly and full of helpful local information. The accommodations were top-notch and extremely comfortable. We loved all of the space in our two-bedroom apartment, especially at the end of long days of sightseeing. The location is perfect for families: a swimming lake across the street, a 5-minute drive to hiking/summer toboganning runs, easy access (with car) to Salzburg, Munich, castles, salt-mines, the list goes on and on! The castle also has the most incredible view of the Alps from the balcony! Our stay at Grafenburg made this an unforgettable vacation for our family - and was worth every penny. We send a big Thank You to Andrea and Janelle for everything!
The photos only come close to doing this property justice. The apartment is not only beautiful, with every modern amenity, it is so comfortable! Everything is new and in perfect condition - and perfectly clean. You're surrounded by beautiful art. It's a dream location. From the terrace, we watched the sun go down over the alps and the lights come on in the towns near and far. The location is perfect for Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck - an easy drive to all. There is a train station in town so you don't have to drive if you don't want to. If you want to cook, you have everything you need. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. We definitely recommend this property - we wish we could have stayed for a month!
We startet our trip in Munich where we arrived by plane. My lady and I got around town, ate wonderful bavarian food and made some sightseeing. So far so good. At the afternoon we continued to Grafenburg Castle here we planned to stay for the weekend and to discover the alps. We called about 2 hours before when we will arrive and then were welcomed very warmly by the owners of that place. What we saw was almost unbelievable. You enter the house through an art gallery and Barock Museum. Something I have never seen before (Except the museums in big cities...). The Apartment we booked was very cosy, super clean and there was absolutely nothing we missed. 2 big Plasma TVs, luxurious kitchen, nice furniture and so on. It was so nice, we almost missed to discover, the alps because we couldn`t get out of the apartment.;)
Starting from the Grafenburg we went hiking in the area around. That worked perfect for us. We found some nice alpine pastures, which we made our hiking destinations and had some wonderful days. One evening, we spend at the world famous "Festspeilhaus Erl". It is just a few minutes by car... Bad for us, it was closed this weekend, but even the architecture was worth a visit! Afterwards we had a nice dinner in Erl.
If we ever come back to this region of the alps and Germany, we will definitely stay here again. Thank you for some wonderful days!
Another visit at the Grafenburg in a brand new residence: Already more than pleased from the amenities during my first stay, I could enjoy a lovely week together with a friend in this 130m2 residence. Being together, but retaining individual freedom, what avoided "holiday stress". The luxurious residence, designed with love for each detail did not leave any wish open. The non existing winter this year was not a problem: Even in Oberaudorf the ski runs were very well prepared. The more and more growing baroque museum of the Grafenburg has become so attratctive, that I spent several hours there with a good Italian coffee or a glass of Champaigne. Must be seen. The custodian, whose restauration works can be visited, is a real art teacher, thanks Jürgen! Back to the residence: Although nobody wants to "work" on a short holiday, the wonderfully equipped kitchen "invited" me to do so. Ah...the nice ladies, who work at the place in reception, cleaning, organization, etc are a wonderful help, thanks to everybody. My résumé: I'll be back this summer!
