Kefallonia (Cephalonia) Vacation Rental villa: Sarlata

My husband and I (ages 60 & 54) stayed at Villa Elina 21/9 - 5/10. It really is a lovely villa; in fact the best we've stayed in. The pool and jacuzzi are excellent - very well maintained and beautifully clean. The BBQ area again is the best we've had. A lot of thought has gone into the design and the quality of the finish is excellent. The property is very well maintained. The cleaner does a thorough job twice a week, as does the pool man. The owners - Elina and Alexandra - are both very helpful and friendly. They really seem to care that you have a good holiday. The provision of pool towels was a welcome touch. The views from the villa are excellent - over to Zakynthos to the left and Argostoli Bay to the right, where you can sit and watch some lovely sunsets. I was a little nervous that you can see the airport runway from the villa but there was no need; it is not in the least intrusive. In fact, you hardly notice the planes. It's certainly not Heathrow so no need to be concerned. It's a good base for sightseeing. Over the 2 weeks we saw the whole island. The local Avithos beach is beautifully clean and sandy. There are 2 good tavernas there. Skala also has a lovely beach and is nice for a wander. Drogarati cave was disappointing but Melissani lake is worth a visit. The boatmen were a hoot! Myrtos beach and Assos are also lovely. There are lots of restaurants and tavernas in Argostoli. We ate in Mythos, Taverna Diana and Portside and were not disappointed. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The only downside to our holiday was the weather, but that's outside of the owner's control and we did go very late in the season. The guest book had entries from June onwards and everyone said what wonderful weather they'd had. We'd definitely go again but earlier in the year. We'd highly recommend Villa Elina or it's sister Villa, Alexandra.
