A wonderful Loire Valley Experience

Four of us stayed in this property for a week in early May and had a really wonderful time. Jean-Luc and Valerie could not do enough for us - they were fantastic from the day we arrived until the final farewell. The situation of the gite is excellent - so near to many of the lovely chateaux and beautiful towns, not to mention the wine caves.

The property is beautiful. It is clean, well equipt and very spacious, exactly as described in the web site. the owners are very friendly and extremely helpful - and the two children are absolutely charming. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending the property and hope to return again in the future.

A lovely peaceful corner of France!

We have just spent 2 weeks at Les Penteries and we had a great time. The house is spotlessly clean and renovated to a very high standard. It stands away from the road just 5 minutes from the A85 motorway making it very easy to find. There were 7 of us from 18-75 and no complaints from anyone. The swimming pool is quite small and shared with other guests who are staying on a bed and breakfast but there were plenty of sun beds (and water toys!!) for us all. Although it is heated by solar panels the hottest temperature was 24' which was quite 'fresh' but welcome as the outside temperature was very hot at times.
There were nice shops at both Blere and Loche and lots of chateaux to visit plus the fabulous zoo where we spent a whole day!
My teenage children did not fancy the drive down so they flew from Stansted to Tours on Ryanair and that went very well. Tours airport is about 30mins away and very small!
Jean-Luc and Valerie were lovely hosts, always on hand to offer help or advice and we took advantage of Valerie's cooking twice and it was fantastic!
I would recommend this house without any reservations.

Excellent base to explore the Loire

We stayed at the cottage in July and early August 2008. The Bertin family were utterly charming and made us very welcome. We had very hot weather the first week, and the pool proved very popular. The visit to the nearby mini Châteaux Land was excellent and enabled our friends' son to photograph all the Loire Châteaux in one easy go! We did also visit quite a lot of real ones and you really can't always tell on the photos! Loches is a small gem of a town, the castle and battlements proved popular with the 'boys' (Dad, son 12, and friends' son 20), but the real highlight for them was the caves. We (Mum and daughter 19) enjoyed the market and cafe life. Altogether an excellent base and a great time was had by all. Thoroughly recommend it.

An uplifting Gite

A tranquil spot, ideal retreat after a busy touristic day. It is beautifully positioned for so many castle visits! The serene and secluded garden/pool are comforting: a bench is strategically placed to catch the last ray of sunshine of the day.
The Gite is very comfortable, adequately equipped, very roomy downstairs, delightfully homely upstairs. My teenage girls (15 & 17) loved the whole character of the gite and enjoyed cooking, lounging in front of the TV or sunbathing by the pool. Two decently stocked supermarkets nearby in Blere.
A lovey plus to our stay was the family host, Mr & Mme Bertin are so welcoming, very helpful for any local info or making your stay more comfortable.
I will be recommending this gite.

Family vacation on Loire Valley

We spent unforgetable moments this May to this newly arranged, charming gite close to the famous French castles of the Loire Valley.
The property is quite cosy, enjoying a location in the middle of trees, flowers and green fields. Is quiet and kids can play outside as is totally no risk of other cars or dangers. They hardly stayed inside and insisted to have lunch and dinner in the garden.
However, the place is just 15 minutes by car from the famous castle of Chenonceaux.We spent the time visiting all the castles around (on an area of max 1 hour by car you can find ones of the highest rated castles) and we enjoyed the shopping and the visits to the cities in the neighbourhood (Loches, Tours and Amboise).
All the comfort is ensured, everything is new and clean, lovely decorated, we did not miss anything. Is totally modern but so out of time in the same time.
The hosts welcome us with fresh flowers on the table, wine in the fridge and were always there for support.
I am looking forward for our next visit!
