We welcome you to our cozy cottage located at the end of a private road offering beautiful ocean and mountain views. Steps lead you down to Maine's distinctive rocky beachfront where you can walk along the water, watching as the tides go in an out and the lobsterman haul their traps. Watching the sunrise over the mountains will certainly be the start to a memorable vacation. Enjoy having a lobsterbake at your private getaway, the full kitchen and grill allows you the comforts of being home. Restaurants and stores are nearby for your convenience and enjoyment. Lamoine State Park is just down the road and offers all the beauty of coastal Maine in this peaceful park. Acadia National Park is a short drive away and offers activities from hiking and biking to kayaking and whale watching. The return to your peaceful cottage will be much appreciated after the hustle and bustle of Mount Desert Island. Drink in the sunset with some local brews and see for yourself the way life should be!
Mount Desert Island has many quaint and charmimg coastal villages including Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor. Blue Hill and Deer Isle/ Stonington are nearby and boast wonderful art galleries, restaurants, and live music and concerts. The Schoodic Peninsula is 20 miles away and is a beautiful drive.
When we were young we had the privilege of being near the ocean. We were ecstatic to get this quiet cottage at the end of Icehouse Lane. We fell in love with the place and hope to share our lovely cottage with you.
Wendy Young purchased this house in 2011
It's near the ocean and there are beautiful views. You can hear the ocean waves from inside the cottage. It's quiet and cozy.
Near Acadia National Park, Lamoine State Park, and Lamoine beach. If you want warmer water to swim in there is Echo Lake near Southwest Harbor. Also, there is a small public pond named Blunts Pond, within less than a mile.
Overall, Lamoine is a nice area to stay. It is close to Bar Harbor but is much quieter and less crowded. This particular house is a single story unit with two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed, and one and a half bathrooms. The water is not potable and purified water is needed, and there is no washer or dryer. The house has new wood floors which are nice and the interior of the house is in generally good repair. There were many nice touches, including coffee beans, two coffee grinders, a coffee maker, snacks for the kids, and other niceties. The house sits on the shore of a bay with an accessible water front but swimming is not really possible because of significant seaweed. The neighbor’s house was often very brightly lit at night because of external floodlights, detracting from the experience. In addition, construction noise was often present.
What a great cottage right next to the water, we couldn't have been happier! The home was clean, bright & comfortable for my family of four. With so many windows there are views from everywhere in the house. We saw seals & porpoises in the bay, spotted right from the living room windows! The home was well equipped with all you would need & more. This is a beautiful place & Acadia was a short ride away. We hiked, biked, went whale watching & spent time exploring the area. The scenery is stunning, even in the fog & rain! My son appreciated the selection of board games! We had a wonderful week & would love to return some day!
Charming and loved is the best description of this lovely home. The views from just about every window are great. The house itself is immaculately kept, and everything is done to make guests feel welcome and at home. Very close to Acadia National Park, and lots of quiet wonders. Wendy has provided lots of comfort items, and the new flooring that has just been installed is beautiful. This is just a very comfortable, very loved home, and we were lucky enough to have stayed for a few days, and if we are in the area again would love to stay longer. Thanks for letting us share your beautiful home. June
We had a great time at this cottage, which is beautifully sited on a bay facing Mount Desert Island (at night you can see the flashes of cameras on the top of Cadillac Mountain!). The cottage itself is open and airy, nicely maintained, and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Beds and sofas were comfy, kitchen was well-equipped, and the natural light and lovely views made it a really nice place to stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on the back lawn watching the sun set over the mountains, then walking down to the water's shore to catch the last of it.
Bar Harbor and Acadia are a 30-40 min. drive away, so you do have to plan your days out to the park, but it was always an easy and pleasant drive (we didn't have any issues at all with traffice, despite being there in the peak of August season). Supermarkets in Ellsworth are less than 15 min. away, so it was easy enough to keep stocked up. Less than five min. down the road is Lamoine Beach, which is a lovely, quiet stretch of shoreline (and allows dogs).
Best of all, the property is dog-friendly, so we were able to bring our pooch with us! We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a dog-friendly getaway near Acadia but away from the bustle.
My husband and I honeymooned here in August of 2011, being among the first guests to stay at this beautiful cottage. After the chaos of a wedding we could not have asked for a more peaceful, relaxing place to stay! The views of Acadia National Park are breathtaking and it was amazing to wake up and see all those amazing mountains and the ocean from our bedroom window. We spent so many hours walking along the beach and sitting in the chairs on the cliff listening to the waves. The owners even surprised us with a “Maine Welcome” basket filled with all sorts of treats! We didn’t stay put either ,Ellsworth and Bar Harbor are close by and we did some excellent hiking, kayaking, and dining. However, we never stayed away too long as it was just so enjoyable to leave the hectic “vacation town” and get back to the cottage! If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Maine stay at this cottage! We already have our anniversary week booked again for this year! Thank you to the Youngs for sharing such an amazing home with us!
This oceanfront cottage is overlooking Mount Desert Narrows, Eastern Bay and the mountains of Acadia, including Cadillac Mt. The home is airy and bright with white-washed walls and abundant windows framing beautiful sea views. It is located at the end of a private road and sits on 1.5 acres.
The cottage is located in the town of Lamoine, a small seacoast village that boasts two ocean beaches and a state park. The property is just minutes from Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park and Ellsworth. The Hancock-County Bar Harbor Regional Airport is 20 minutes away and Bangor International Airport ia an hour's drive.
