The possibilities are endless at this mountain-top retreat! Whether you seek peace and tranquility on its 50 acres or explore the many outdoor adventure opportunities available locally, your stay will sure to be a memorable one.

Bordering the Connecticut River, the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and its neighbor, the Great North Woods of New Hampshire offer many attractions and activities for all ages.

This is truly a four-season area. During the winter, hop on your snow machine and pick up Vermont's incredible trail system a few hundred yards away. There is local sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating and fishing. Experience the thrill of dog sledding at Muddy Paw Dogsledding in nearby Jefferson, NH. Enjoy a day of Cross Country Skiing at the Mountain View Grand in nearby Whitefield, N.H. Our local down-hill ski areas include Breton Woods, Cannon and Burke Mountains. For an old-time ski adventure, visit Prospect Mountain in Lancaster, NH on weekends, free-of-charge, with rope-tow access to its summit.

During the spring, summer and fall months, take out your kayak and enjoy nature's beauty on our many local ponds, lakes and rivers. Observe the resident loons on Martin Meadow Pond. If you enjoy fishing, cast out your line and fish to your heart's content at numerous sites. The bass, trout, northern pike and land-locked salmon await you at the Moore Reservoir, New Hampshire's 4th largest lake. Of course, you may be competing with the osprey and bald eagles who also venture there! The wildlife is abundant in our area if hunting is your sport. Moose, bear, deer, turkeys and rabbits are frequent visitors to the property and its surrounding woods. For the hiking or bicyling enthusiasts, it just dosen't get any better than this area! The area's roads and mountains provide many opportunities for beginner to advanced skills. Hike along the nearby trails, Moore Reservoir and spend some time on Dog Mountain, a favorite of 4-footed friends. For stock-car racing enthusiasts, Riverside Speedway in nearby Groveton, NH offers thrills and excitement for all ages and divisions on its 1/4 mile track..

Enjoy the day with your family at Santa's Village in nearby Jefferson, NH. Let Santa, his elves and reindeer enchant you; enjoy its newly-opened water park. Visit one of our many state parks. Grab your clubs to golf at the Waumbek Golf Course, one of the oldest in the country. Don't forget your camera for these picturesque views of the White Mountain Presidential Range! Other local golf courses include the Mountain View Grand Resort and the Bethlehem (NH) and St. Johnsbury (VT) Country Clubs. Venture out on a 'Paws and Paddles' outting to experience the thrill of rolling dogsledding and white water rafting. Tree climbing is not just for kids as you'll soon discover at nearby Twin Pines Recreational Tree Climbing Center in Danville, VT. ATV's are welcomed in our area; marvel at the region's outdoor beauty. Now in its 147th year, the Lancaster Fair offers everything from farming exhibits to horse pulling, midway rides and a demolition derby, just to name a few events.

If your vacation goals include rest and relaxation, you'll find it here. The home is the last residence on a well- maintained town road. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views from your deck or the Great room. Experience the incredible view of the stars in our night sky, for there's no street lights up here! If you're traveling with teenagers or in-laws, there's a great basement studio apartment for them. If a friend or family member has handicapped needs, there is a bathroom with safety bars; other equipment available for your use include a wheelchair, shower bench and bedside commode. During the summer months, pick fresh vegetables from my garden and enjoy the beautiful deck plants and potted flowers. Delight in watching the variety of birds visiting the feeder and observe the antics of our red squirrels. Pick blueberries and blackberries; enjoy long walks or relax with a good book.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Betty,

It has been almost two weeks since we left your nice house sitting on the top of the mountain. I still vividly remember the three days we spent there in early October and the details of those nice things you placed there. I can never finish the list of all the wonderful things you offered to us. It is such a great place that my friends and I would very much like to come back in the near future.

Since the day I got in touch with you, you have been always pleasant for any of my questions. What you offered in your house has been much more than we expected. We are very experienced cottage guests, and I have to say that compared to the many cottages we have rented over years, none of them can even come close to your house. I got so many great comments, from my friends, for choosing your home.

Didn't I tell you that we tried the broccoli and beans in your garden, several times? They are so tasty! Thanks for your efforts to maintain such a nice vegetable garden.

Many thanks is just not enough for us to tell you how much we love your house, and how much we appreciate everything you did for us.

Wish you all the best in your business and your life as well!

VERY RELAXING PLACE, WAS ENJOYED BY ALL!

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed at Betty's place, the weather, views and property were beautiful! I was lucky enough to spy a bear one morning near the cabbage patch before it retreated to the woods! The house was clean for our arrival and just love the decor and layout of the place. Can't fault it! We even took some horse back riding lessons and a trail ride from a lady down the road. Our chocolate lab found comfort laying on the deck and roaming free about the place! We enjoyed walking the local trails and visited Dog Mountain and Neal pond for fishing, canoeing and swimming. Very relaxing place was enjoyed by all! Would definitely return to this place!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • 5 of 5
Stayed with my girlfriend, sons, mother and dog. The pictures and reviews do not do this home justice. Betty is a proffesional, beautifully kept and presented home. She provided numerous binders with any and all information we required for our stay.
One of our favorite tidbits was to talk to her neighbour Mellisa about going for a guided horseback trailride. What an adventure it was, we will definitely be back.

SIMPLY AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5
Betty's cabin was beyond me or my families expectations. Her home is absolutely beautiful, immaculately clean and pristine. Upon arrival she had turned the fire place on and the home was very warm and cozy. There is also a fire place downstairs in one if the bedrooms which was great.

She provided everything necessary when away from home: plenty of amenities shampoo soap and plenty of condiments. We felt like were at home and did not need to bring anything of our own. The decor inside was chic and we'll thought out- we could tell she spends a lot of time and effort paying attention to decorative details and upkeep in general of the house. We had plenty of space for the 8 of us.

The view from her porch is absolutely breathtaking, perfect view of the mountains and sunrise and sunset. The location was tucked away high up towards the end of the road so we had a lot of privacy with no one in sight. The surrounding towns were not too far either to do some shopping etc and exploration. We give this vacation a 10/10 and all thanks to Betty and her wonderful home.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS

  • 5 of 5
I can't say much more than what has already been said about this property and the owner.
This house is fabulous.
Betty was very responsive and helpful with answering our questions leading up to our stay.
Don't be concerned if you forgot something at home, this place has it all. Right down to the dental floss.

We just returned from our 5 day stay over Thanksgiving. The house has everything we could possibly need to make a great traditional dinner for the family. A fully stocked kitchen with all the amenities anyone could ask for. The bonus is having the apartment kitchen in the lower level available. The stove in the apartment solved the problem of needing items to bake at the same time that the turkey was roasting.

Waking up to a spectacular view of the White Mountains is an added bonus!
I hope there comes an opportunity to come back to this location.
