The possibilities are endless at this mountain-top retreat! Whether you seek peace and tranquility on its 50 acres or explore the many outdoor adventure opportunities available, your stay will sure to be a memorable one.

Bordering the Connecticut River, the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and its neighbor, the Great North Woods of New Hampshire offer many attractions and activities for all ages.

This is truly a four-season area. During the winter, hop on your snow machine and pick up Vermont's incredible trail system a few hundred yards away. Enjoy local sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating and fishing. Experience the thrill of dog sledding at Muddy Paw Dogsledding in nearby Jefferson, NH. Enjoy a day of Cross Country Skiing at the Mountain View Grand (14 miles). Our local down-hill ski areas include Breton Woods, Cannon and Burke Mountains. For a local, old-time ski adventure, visit Prospect Mountain in Lancaster, NH on weekends, free-of-charge, with rope-tow access to its summit.

During the spring, summer and fall months, take out your kayak and enjoy nature's beauty on our many local ponds, lakes and rivers. Observe the resident loons on Martin Meadow Pond. If you enjoy fishing, cast out your line and fish to your heart's content at numerous sites. The bass, trout, northern pike and land-locked salmon await you at the Moore Reservoir, New Hampshire's 4th largest lake. Of course, you may be competing with the osprey and bald eagles who also venture there. The wildlife is abundant in our area if hunting is your sport. Moose, bear, deer, turkeys and rabbits are frequent visitors to the property and its surrounding woods. For the hiking or bicyling enthusiasts, it just dosen't get any better than this area! The beautiful White Mountains are just a short distance away. The area's roads and mountains provide many opportunities for beginner to advanced skills. For stock-car racing enthusiasts, Riverside Speedway in nearby Groveton, NH offers thrills and excitement for all ages and divisions on its 1/4 mile track..

Enjoy the day with your family at Santa's Village in nearby Jefferson, NH. Let Santa, his elves and reindeer enchant you. Jump at the chance to be a part of the Old West at Six-Gun City. Visit one of our many state parks. Grab your clubs to golf at the Waumbek Golf Course, one of the oldest in the country. Don't forget your camera for these picturesque views of the White Mountain Presidential Range! Other local golf courses include the Mountain View Grand Resort and the Bethlehem (NH) and St. Johnsbury (VT) Country Clubs. Venture out on a 'Paws and Paddles' outting to experience the thrill of rolling dogsledding and white water rafting. Tree climbing is not just for kids as you'll soon discover at nearby Twin Pines Recreational Tree Climbing Center in Danville, VT. ATV's are welcomed in our area; marvel at the region's outdoor beauty. Now in its 147th year, the Lancaster Fair offers everything from farming exhibits to horse pulling, midway rides and a demolition derby, just to name a few events.

If your vacation goals include rest and relaxation, you'll find it here. The home is the last residence on a well- maintained town road. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views from your deck or living room. Experience the incredible view of the stars in our night sky, for there's no street lights up here! If you're traveling with teenagers or in-laws, there's a great basement studio apartment for them. If a friend or family member has handicapped needs, there is a bathroom with safety bars; other equipment available for your use include a wheelchair, shower bench and bedside commode. During the summer months, pick fresh vegetables from my garden and enjoy the beautiful deck plants and potted flowers. Enjoy watching a variety of birds visiting the feeder and observe the antics of our red squirrels. Pick blueberries and blackberries; enjoy long walks or relax with a good book.

Betty's house is great! We had the house over New Years and it was the best one yet. The house is stocked with everything you need from coffee to shampoo. We spent the NYE snowboarding at Bretton Woods which was an easy drive. The views are spectacular. Betty really goes out of her way to make your stay perfect. We all want to go back next winter. Thanks Betty!!!!

My wife, I and beagle Hoser stayed here the weekend after Thanksgiving. As all the reviews have mentioned this is a fantastic cabin and plenty big. The area is beautiful. We did a half day hike in Jefferson and took our dog to Dog mountain in St. Johnsbury during our 2 day stay. Betty has done a magnificent job with this cabin. It is the best furnished and decorated cabin that we have rented from yet using homeaway or vrbo (... I'd say that's at least 6 getaways). Very cozy furniture, beautiful kitchen, great beds, spacious bathroom and incredible views from the living room. Highly recommend this home. Don't forget to feed the birds and red squirrels :)

Great stay: start-to-finish

Betty,
It has been almost two weeks since we left your nice house sitting on the top of the mountain. I still vividly remember the three days we spent there in early October and the details of those nice things you placed there. I can never finish the list of all the wonderful things you offered to us. It is such a great place that my friends and I would very much like to come back in the near future.

Since the day I got in touch with you, you have been always pleasant for any of my questions. What you offered in your house has been much more than we expected. We are very experienced cottage guests, and I have to say that compared to the many cottages we have rented over years, none of them can even come close to your house. I got so many great comments, from my friends, for choosing your home.

Didn't I tell you that we tried the broccoli and beans in your garden, several times? They are so tasty! Thanks for your efforts to maintain such a nice vegetable garden.

Many thanks is just not enough for us to tell you how much we love your house, and how much we appreciate everything you did for us.

Wish you all the best in your business and your life as well!

Fall Foliage Getaway

Not even sure where to begin. From the point of booking online to checking out, Betty was THE BEST! She went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute, so much in fact that we extended our stay by 1 night while we were there. Betty doesnt miss a beat, anything you could possibly need is right at your fingertips. Her home is spotless and welcoming. Flowers everywhere and landscaped just beautifully. Its obvious she works hard on the landscaping and takes pride in it. Did I mention the house is spotless?

We planned on going on a hike to leaf peep but didnt have too. All we had to do was look out the windows which was great because honestly, we didnt want to leave. The views are ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING and the woodstove was a great treat and kept us nice and toasty. Our dogs loved the sofa chair by the window, as Betty suggested they would. They crashed on it after an afternoon of fun at Dog Mountain. I dont think they wanted to leave either.

We packed groceries and made dinner. The kitchen is equipped with anything and everything you need to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. Her garden in the fall is wonderful, I can just imagine what its like in the summer. We borrowed some carrots for a beef stew and some squash. YUM!!!!

Now there are a few house "rules." One of them is to keep the bird feeders full. Not so much a rule if you ask us. We loved watching the Blue Jays and other birds stock up for the winter. Such a delight!

The location is away from it all, but close enough to make a run to Shaws for any groceries that you forgot. On the road up to her house we even saw a sign for fresh eggs when available. I do suggest having breakfast at the Littleton Diner, just about 13 miles away, worth the scenic drive.

We are already talking about going back. I bet its just as beautiful in the winter months with the snow covered mountains as your backdrop. I would recommend this property to my friends and family in a heartbeat. I just hope their time at her home doesnt interfere with ours! :) I can go on and on and on. All I can say is, JUST GO! Thanks for everything Betty! See you soon!
