We booked Villa Minos for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time, after a few emails with the owners we transferred the money and the property manager was in touch with us nearly immediately. They gave us detailed directions and texted us when our flight landed so that we could meet and be shown to the villa. I selected a few additional extras with them such as a welcome pack, champagne and flowers and to my delight everything was there, champagne cold and rose petals on the bed. The property managers were a Dutch couple that live in Crete and they explained everything to us within 5 minutes of arrival at the villa and arrange a time with us for the cleaners to come and to change the sheets and towels mid stay.
Inside the villa it was fully equipped with everything that was needed right through to a washing machine which was a nice touch to be able to return home with clean clothes.
The villa was brand new, I think we were the first paying guests, it is in a gated development of only 4 villas up a hill with views into the bay and Elounda, the hill seems quite steep when walking back at night which was good exercise but taxis are available and the ride from Elounda is only 3 or 4 euros. The 4 villas are quite close to each other but each one had its own parking space, enough privacy and beautiful views of the bay and port.
Elounda is pretty much a typical Greek beach resort although much quieter than Agios Nicolas, Elounda still has all the usual touristy beach activities however and the beach was never too crowded which was lovely, being honest though we only made it to the beach once as the tranquillity of being at the villa by the pool and simply looking at the beach was enough. In terms of restaurants there is a complete mix, from international and British owned restaurants serving the Full English to typical Greek cuisine, if you walk through the centre and round to the left along the sea front, there are some lovely typical Greek restaurants, and if you go even further (walking along the road that goes round the bay) try the one on the right that is always busy.
I would recommend this villa to most people; we had a really relaxing time and could happily have stayed at the villa for another week or two.
