Located only 1.5 km's to Central Ubud, Far from the crowds but still conveniently close...Walking distance to countless Organic and Local Restaurants...Alchemy,La la Lilies...Yellow Flower...Mades Warung....to name a few,Local Shopping, Temples, Yoga and Meditation centres and Local Health Spas. Easy road access but without any of the noise. Motor cycle parking on site. Easy access to Airport...pick up and drop off can be organised with our local driver, beaches and volcano. All modern ammenities.

Hi Speed WiFi included. and friendly professional staff to take care of you during your stay.

Comes complete with housekeeper to clean daily.

Our housekeeper Wayan for a small added charge can also cook simple meals by request (if you feel like staying in) as well as take care of your laundry needs.....A menu and laundry fee list will be at the house when you check in.

Airport transfers can be organised for you at the best local rate. Currently 250,000rp for daytime transfers and 300,000 for evening transfers.

For older children or extra friends there is a second house on the property that sleeps 4 and can be rented for a little extra per night. Would be particularly suitable to a couple with teenage children not needing supervision. There is a very deep pool on the property and steep staircase in the second house so not ideally suited to very young children.

The pool is shared by both houses only when they are rented together. If Pondok Maya is rented separately then the property can be closed via the gates and is private and has the pool to itself.

Penestanan is a lovely rice field village, which is also the centre for 'Young Artists' in Bali, and many other handicrafts. It is a comfortable 1.5 km stroll from central Ubud (one steep hill), a one hour drive from the airport, several beaches and the volcano in central Ubud. The rice fields themselves are car-free, although there is motorbike access, it is serene and filled with natural beauty, and much flora, fauna and wild-life. It is close to all the activities, yet in a unique and tranquil setting. Higher and towards the foothills of the volcano, still tropical but not as hot as the beach areas. This is the cultural centre of Bali, and besides the local artists there are several art galleries and museums, plus every evening there are traditional dance performances, besides local temple ceremonies, where visitors are always welcome. There are countless wonderful restaurants for all budgets, great night-life, yoga studios and access to every healing modality imaginable.

Perfect 5 week vacation hideaway!

We are still pining for our Ubud holiday, in part because we loved our romantic home away. To have a private, luscious yard complete with refreshing dipping pool was magic. The staff were efficient and respectful of our privacy. Ketut was charming and so willing to accommodate. Walking behind the property, discovering new paths was one of our favorite things. Bubu's had our favorite nasi campur and spring rolls in Ubud and they were only steps away. Everyone in this neighbourhood was so lovely and helpful to us. We considered ourselves very lucky to have found such a perfect spot. In fact, we may back next year.

Hello Susan....Well sadly as they say "all good things must come to an end" but I
couldn't let the end go without sending you an email to tell you how appreciative
I am to have shared your beautiful home in Ubud.....I can honestly tell you that I
cried when I left.....The beautiful energy that consumes the space is intoxicating.
I truly felt like I was home....Everything about the cottage is gorgeous....I spent three weeks in Bali and without any doubt....Pondok Maya was my heartfelt love....So much so that my companion and I got engaged there!!!! Truly magical....Thank you ever so much. The only thing I felt a little sad over was not being able to use the meditation room (and ofcourse leaving)
....just not enough time!!!
Definitely next time!!!
Another beautiful aspect of the cottage is Ketut....what a beautiful soul....nothing was too much trouble and his smile could light up a sky!!!! Pondok Maya will always hold special memories in my heart.

Wonderful Little Idyll

Susan's cottage is a wonderful little idyll to relax in. The design has been really well thought out, especially the glass doors opening on to the terrace which provide a view of the lovely garden and pool all the time. There's everything you need in the cottage, particularly the kitchen, and best of all there's a great hammock which is perfect for reading or snoozing in. The village itself has a great local feel and it's good to be away from the busy town centre, although it's an easy walk into town and there's no shortage of motorbike or car taxis if you don't feel like walking. Ilhu and the other staff are also very helpful and friendly and nothing's a problem for them at all. Would happily stay there again.

Honeymoon Getaway

When we first arrived at Susan's bungalow, we were greeted by a flower lined entrance. Once we opened the rustic looking doors, we saw 107(we actually counted) flowers that surrounded our bed. We had a heart shape rose petal display on our bed and the outside prayer garden. Nano was very kind in showing us how everything worked. The bungalow itself was very enjoyable and we loved every minute spent in Ubud. I would highly recommend this bungalow to anyone who is interested in staying in Ubud. Ubud was our favorite place we stopped at on our honeymoon and I would come back again in a heartbeat!
