PRISTINE RENOVATED WATERFRONT COTTAGE NEAR VINEYARDS AND BEACH

Peconic Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage. 2 bedroom( one is a sleeping loft), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)

Tranquility abounds in this enchanting, completely renovated waterfront cottage by the sea. Our charming home, which we call ''Bittersweet Cottage'', was built in 1933 and reborn in 2010. While EVERYTHING is brand new, from the floorboards to the furnishings, it still retains all the charms of yesteryear and beckons you back to a simpler place and time.

The quaint front porch welcomes you and upon opening the front door you are immediately awestruck by the incredible views that lay in front of you. With an open floor plan and a full wall of glass, the home seems to embrace you as you enter this ethereal space. The gourmet kitchen is in the back of the house and is part of the main living area, which allows the cook to enjoy the beautiful views and their company at the same time. The cozy bedroom has a queen size bed and ample storage. The sleeping loft has a queen size bed, inviting window seats, and skylights.

There is also additional hanging space downstairs. The living room has a full size sofa bed.

The '' piece de resistance'' is undoubtedly the beautiful deck. It beckons you to kick back and enjoy the breathtaking views of the water and the woodlands beyond. It is a perfect spot for coffee and a newspaper in the morning , a midafternoon nap, cocktails at sunset, or star gazing at night while roasting marshmallows. It is a true nature lovers' paradise. You can watch turtles sunning themselves on the rocks, fish jumping out of the water, osprey swooping down, and the beautiful swans floating gracefully by.

If you feel like venturing out, the beach is just a short walk up the road. There is also a local marina if you wish to rent a canoe or kayak. The areas many vineyards are just a stones throw away and we are surrounded by wonderful restaurants if you want to check out the catch of the day ( that is, if you haven't caught it yourself already - the jetty at our beach is a popular fishing spot)!

If you're looking for some action, Riverhead is just a short drive away and is known for its shopping outlets, waterslide park , aquarium, and stock car races. We are surrounded by quaint villages like Greenport, which has small town charm with a nautical flair. It also is home to many fabulous restaurants and shops. You can also hop a ferry there to Shelter Island, another beautiful destination, and just one step away from the Hamptons. Orient Point , the eastern most point on the North Fork, has gorgeous sunrises, and you can also catch a ferry there to New England . If you like to cook, don't forget to stop at some of our many farmstands and pick up some of the most amazing fruits and veggies. Let's not forget what so many people come to the North Fork for - our incredible vineyards. Wine tasting is a must!

You'll love being part of our quiet community. Our family takes great pride in our pristine home. It is an ideal home for a romantic getaway or memorable retreat . Our friends have often told us that being at our home is like being on ''golden pond.'' Bittersweet Cottage is a magical place that has given us a lifetime of indelible memories.

A little cottage by the sea,

Oh! A wondrous place to be!

My family and I have owned our charming cottage since 1989. We all adore the North Fork and especially our little piece of paradise. Four generations of our family have now enjoyed vacationing here and we absolutely love sharing our special home with guests from all over the world.

The pictures don't do this cottage justice!! My fiancé and I went here for my birthday and as soon as we opened the door she fell in love. Withs the beach just down the road and with over 50 wineries there is no shortage of things to do. Hope I thank you for a great weekend. We will definitely come back again!!!!!!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much Mark! I still get that same reaction when I open the front door- what a view!
I'm glad that you had a fantastic birthday at the cottage and I look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

Our weekend was absolutely amazing. The owner greeted us when we arrived, showed us around the place and gave some great suggestions about things to do/places to visit over the weekend. This was such a nice personal touch that you don't often get these days!

The house is simply amazing and the view from the back deck is stunning!
We cannot wait to come back!
Owner's Response: I'm so glad that your first trip to the North Fork and to Bittersweet was such a positive one Brad! It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to seeing you again someday.
Best Regards, hope

Wonderful Family Vacation

My husband and I were excited to get out of the city and take our 7 week old on her first family vacation. This cottage was the perfect choice. Not only was the cottage and location beautiful but everything was super clean and so well stocked. We were able to truly relax for the first time since the baby was born. Hope was wonderful and allowed us the flexibility that we needed with the baby. We will definitely be back!
Owner's Response: I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Bittersweet! It is such a short trip from the city and yet it seems like a world away. I'm glad that you got some much needed rest and happy that your little one got to spend her first vacation here! I hope to see you again some day.
Best,
Hope

The Bittersweet Cottage had absolutely everything we needed during our extended weekend stay. It was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated and extremely relaxing. The size was perfect for our family of three and the ample deck space overlooking the water was a favorite spot to unwind. Hope was extremely helpful and accessible. We enjoyed visits to vineyards, farm stands and a number of delicious restaurants - as well as the beach just a short walk away. We would absolutely recommend this to friends and are already dreaming of our next visit!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much Kristi! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your time at the cottage and I look forward to you visiting again some day!
Warm Regards,
Hope

Amazing first taste of the North Fork

Stayed here for 4 nights as both our first trip out to the North Fork and our first time using VRBO, and based on this trip we will definitely be doing both again!

Every morning started with coffee and breakfast on the deck for a couple of hours just watching the water and wildlife - including a group of 4 adult geese with 11 chicks that came for breakfast every morning next door.

The house itself is a wonderful space. Great layout, great fully stocked kitchen - definitely no skimping on any aspect of the home. The included binoculars and small telescope were great for watching the birds from the deck. Although we didn't get to make use of it, the grill and entertaining space on the lower patio would have been incredible for entertaining guests by the waterside.

The location of this property is also great for any North Fork activities. We were minutes from dozens of vineyards and restaurants and did not go to the same place twice during our stay. Easy walk to the beach from the house, and a very short drive east to the dunes (short walk from the parking area, but enjoyed a picnic on the beach where we didn't see another person for over 2 hours).

Would definitely recommend this property to anyone, and will most likely be looking to come back in the future now that we've 'discovered' the North Fork.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay Edward! I know that the weather could have been a bit better during your time at the cottage but some how you still can kick back while inside and enjoy the view on rainy days. The local villages are wonderful places to shop and dine and exploring the back roads of the community is a great way to get a flavor of the east end. Like most people, it sounds like your first trip to the North Fork won't be your last! I look forward to having you back some day.
Best Regards, Hope
