New Build 106m2 Swiss Quality and Style with Wonderful Mountain Views and Walks.

A truly delightful spacious apartment with large garden and wonderful location enjoying the Valais microclimate, boosted by Swiss style and service wherever you go, but only a 1 hour 20 min drive from Geneva airport. Also close to motorway links for the rest of Switzerland and northern Italy plus on the French border.

Year round: There is something for everyone nearby; the Stern Parc at San Gingolph, fishing in Lac Leman, watching the Marmottes at Roches De Nahe, exploring the salt mines at Bex, visiting the glaciers or dinosaur footprints at Lac Emosson. Cultural attractions in Martigny and Monthey including the Roman remains and amphitheatre in Martigny or travel over the mountain pass down the Aosta valley to Turin.

Summer: Lifts remain open to provide access to the 600km of marked biking and hiking trails. The more adventurous might try the 'Via Ferrata' up a 460m rock wall at a 75 degree angle using fixed rungs crossing waterfalls and bridges or walk a bit further to the 'Galerie de Defago' which is a scary cliff path of 600 metres cut in to the rock face directly opposite Champery town. The equestrian centre in Champery offers a variety of outings, whether you want to spend one hour on horseback or several days riding in the mountains. Or relax around the resort or on the apartment's spacious lawn and dinning on your own patio. The weather is generally mild until November so it's easily possible to extend many summer activities to late autumn. You can also enjoy the annual Montreux international Jazz festival if there in July.

Winter: The nearby Champery Ski Telepherique accessible by local train provides access to the extensive ski region of Portes du Soleil on the Swiss French border. Try the infamous 'Swiss Wall' or stick to the easier blues and reds taking rests at the many good quality mountain restaurants. The apartment's basement has warm ski lockers and linked to indoor parking all of which is included.

For UK travellers, drive time from Calais is 8hrs plus stops using 2 peage motorways, 1st to north Reims, 2nd from south Reims to Dijon then to Besancon, Pontalier, Vallorbe (Swiss border), Lausanne, Monthey and apartment at Les Bains de Val d'Illiez, all very easy with sat-nav.

This year round spa resort is quiet and secluded with all amenities close to the town of Champery. The area is a spectacularly beautiful part of French speaking Switzerland very popular with the Swiss. Ideal for many activities; winter sports such as skiing , summer sports such as mountain biking, walking and as a base for visiting Geneva, Rhone valley, Verbier, Evian, Montreux, Villars, France and northern Italy by car or rail. Explore the hinterland and discover Chamonix, Martigny, Sion, Gstaad, Roches de Naye and the dinosaur relics at Lac Emosson. Swiss Appelation vineyards dotted either side of upper Loire for wine tasting tours and scenic Swiss mountain railway network easily reached by local rail stop just 500 metres from apartment front door. Or just relax in the resort in the bar or restaurant or natural thermal baths. Although we recommend a car some UK guests have had a holiday entirely on public transport using the Swiss trains from Geneva airport as the station is downstairs from the airport luggage area to Aigle then with either a taxi to the apartment or continue via the mountain railway to the local 'request' stop at Fayot, which they then use every day for skiing as well. So with plenty of inexpensive flights in to Geneva or Berne a car free holiday is possible. For travellers who prefer not to fly you can overland the whole route using EuroStar service to Paris, TGV to Geneva then onwards as above via Swiss rail.

    Ideal for up to 6 children as lounge is 30m2 with plenty of playing space, easy clean flooring and very large, level and safe grassed garden.

    Guests have commented that the apartment is very wheel chair friendly, as there is your own extra large parking space right by the entrance lobby which has two wide doors, then a few metres only to the apartment front door. The apartment itself is open planned and very roomy with wall to wall tiled flooring so very easy to manoeuver plus there are 2 paved patios both with double patio doors and a huge level grassed garden. So with no steps at any point and with shallow door sills to the garden it is all partiuclarly wheelchair friendly.

Notes: This luxury apartment has constant underfloor heating in all rooms and hallways, electric full height external patio shutters and patio lighting. Your own exterior parking space just left of the outer doors marked 'prive' and included in the rental plus an indoor space for winter use. There is also plenty of free roadside and off road parking within 30 metres, so extra cars easily parked. The garden comprises a large (150 sq m) south facing lawn with wonderful views but with still some privacy ideal for the family to relax in and to eat 'al fresco'. Internet connection Wi-fi included in the rental. The apartment is also very wheel chair friendly as several guests have mentioned this after their holiday.

The apartment itself is light and airy and spacious enough for a large family or group of friends, sleeping eight persons comfortably: four in two bedrooms and four in the lounge and is fully furnished and well equipped throughout, with dishwasher, washing machine and drying facilities. The car park is underground, with space reserved for each apartment.

There is a wonderful view across the valley and the terrace and garden are large enough for outside living - great for family breakfast, sundowners, barbeques and sunbathing.

The apartment’s location made it ideal for us to enjoy a holiday based around ski-ing, walking and swimming, but there are many other activities to enjoy: tennis, cycling and mountaineering, or just taking it easy; with the added benefit of a spa on the doorstep.

The Thermal Spa Val D’Illiez is adjacent the apartment and is an excellent place for a leisurely outdoor swim in the warmth of the sulphur springs. It was very busy in the ski-ing season, so you have to choose your times. I found it best early afternoon.

The tourist office in Champery is full of helpful information about ski-runs, walking routes, sightseeing, maps, train and bus timetables, etc. In all cases, it is best to first check opening times, schedules, etc., as these change from season to season.

The ski runs are excellent for all types of skiers and there are plenty of ski schools for those who have yet to try. It is easier by car to reach the ski lift in Champery where there is plenty of parking. There is a variety of good walking routes, up mountains, through villages, woods and along streams. Proper walking boots recommended.

There is also plenty to explore by car in the region: lots of picturesque villages in and around the valley and trips around the area, including the Chateau de Chillon, (immortalised by poets and painters including Lord Byron and William Turner).

Further exploration can be made by using the local train service, and it is worth a trip to Monthey, when you can sit back and watch the rapidly changing views along the route with a couple of hours’ stopover to shop and lunch.

There are some excellent restaurants within a half hour radius of the apartment, including the excellent Auberge de la Bourgeoisie in Troistorrents and Café due Centre in Champery.

All in all, everything is says on the tin and a great relaxing space, where you create your own pace.

When we arrived at this appartment we were delighted at how roomy it was. all the rooms are of a luxury size and fully equipped. It was also lovely and warm at all times due to the underfloor heating. There is a large garden perfect for snowman making etc. There is also ample space to park and we were ideally located inbetween a wide choice of different ski locations to suit all the different skiers in our party ranging from 10 to 42 some being complete beginners. We would love to go back in spring/summer it is beautiful covered in snow but believe it will be just as beautiful covered in sunshine. Will definitely go back.

I have visited this apartment twice and probably at the most inauspicious time when building works were in full progress and the local train/tram was not running. In spite of this both groups of us had a lovely time and will go back when time permits. On the first occasion I visited with my elderly father who found the facilities very age friendly. The road in and out of the valley is no great strain even if you are not used to driving on mountain roads. If you do not want to use the car for day trips there is a local train / tram which has a stop within walking distance and takes you further up the mountain to the cable cars or down the mountain to connect up with the mainline train. We found a Swiss Rail flexipass very useful and had daytrips as far as Bern, Fribrourg, Neuchatel and (my favourite because I make stained glass windows), the stained glass museum in Romont.

The local small town is very pleasant with all the amenities one really needs. It has a small supermarket and several places to eat. If you need that big supermarket experience then Monthey just down the valley is nearby and there is a small shopping mall too.

What I particularly liked was there were no 'little homely touches' which I have experienced in many of the gites and apartments I have experienced previously. This usually means loads of dusty ornaments which seem to be placed where they are likely to get broken! Instead the apartment is just beautifully clean, well equipped and convenient.

It actually is even better than it says on the tin!

I liked my time there as it is but when the facilities are all open I am sure it will be even better with a restaurant / café and spa pools.
