The views from this lakefront cottage are amazing, it has floor to ceiling glass and has an amazing field stone fireplace. It is a true Maine cottage, constructed by Maine Cottage Builders. All beautiful wood inside. It has a large loft for children to play and a family friendly open living area. It is waterfront and has a deck at the water's edge for swimming and later enjoying a drink in the late afternoons watching the sun set. The road into the property is approx 3/4 of a mile long and unpaved, an average car, sport utility or minivan are fine. However, low luxury cars like Mercedes, Cadillacs and Lexus's, are not recommended. If you cancel your reservation and I can rent your week to someone else, rental amount less your deposit will be refunded. If not, you forfeit your entire rental amount. This property does not have an internet connection, it does have a telephone line if you are able to do dial up. There is wi-fi at the local library. Due to the mountains, it has limited cell phone use, we have had luck getting cell phone reception at the deck at the water's edge.
This is what I received from one of our guest:
I meant to email you after our vacation last summer, but got caught up back in my work quickly. I wanted to let you know how impressed we were with your home. We had a wonderful wonderful time, it was just perfect for us. The kids just LOVED the Air Hockey Table. The lake was amazing, and so clean and great for swimming. The fireplace was great. It was private. There were loons. Everything was amazing. My 4 year old son was most impressed with the frogs and toads he was catching and still talking about today …. LOL. You are very lucky to have such a property! Hopefully you will be renting it for a long time to come. ?
We stayed at the cottage in the summer 2012 with our 2 young daughters.
The cottage is very nice, large rooms and a nice open concept. Very clean.
It is very private as it is in the middle of a forest, but we can see others cottages in the other side of the lake.
The water is clean and there are kayak and a little boat which my kids loved.
The town is not to far, and we ate the best lobsterroll at the town seafood restaurant.
Overall a great cottage, a little bit to secluded in the forest for me as I was a little bit scared at night to go out.
We loved the cottage and just returned from a great week at this beautiful lakeside spot! The owner told me the wood for the cottage came from the trees that were cleared when the cottage was built. The view from the great room is truly spectacular, and we heard loons all week! It was so nice to have the canoe to use, and there is also a kayak and row boat. The cottage is well stocked, and the kitchen was fun to cook in! The lake only has a few motor boats, and the other cottages are on the other end. I appreciated that the caretaker met us and showed us around upon arrival. We loved the peace and quiet and the remote setting, although the cottage is only a short drive from many attractions. We loved it!
We were looking for a vacation from all the modern day distractions and we got exactly what we wanted with this house. No cell phone coverage, no internet and very limited television. Our four children weren't very convinced that this was going to be a fun vacation when we told them what they would not have for a week, but it didn't take long for them to tell us this was the best vacation ever. They spent many hours outdoors exploring the property, taking the boats on the water and enjoying each other (something they don't do so much at home!)
We spent a day at Attitash Mtn. and it was an easy drive from the house. I would caution you to have preloaded maps on a GPS or printed maps because your cell phone will not be able to load them at the house; we learned this the hard way.
We flew into Boston and drove to the cabin with a stop in Rochester, NH for groceries. Large grocery stores are not available near the house so I recommend stocking up on your way in. The road into the house is a story in itself; definitely something our kids will always remember. It's not terrible, but not a road we wanted to go down every day. This house is a 'get there and stay' type of house which was okay for us because that is exactly what we were wanting.
The house is very clean with ample supplies. Other properties we've stayed at didn't provide basic supplies like toilet paper, dish soap, etc. Chris has the house stocked very well so we didn't need some of the supplies we brought with us.
We have a family of six and the set-up of this house was perfect. Our two girls slept in the bedroom with twin beds and our two boys occupied the loft. There is another twin bed that we didn't use and a futon in the basement. We traveled in October and the basement was very cold because it does not have heat. In warmer months it could be another sleeping location but I don't think any one would volunteer to sleep down there when the nights get cold.
Thank you, Chris, for a wonderful family vacation spot and we would definitely return in the future!
Beautiful lakefront cottage, only a few years old, open floor plan with field stone fireplace. Private 40 acre property with 900 feet of shoreline, view of mountain and lake. Swimming, boating. 40 min from Conway, NH recreational areas or Portland ME. Conway has a huge outlet store area. A lot of great day trips. 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a large loft, a full size futon on the lower level, the lower level also has a full view of the water. Spectacular views, floor to ceiling windows, very bright, many skylights. No Pets or smoking. It is a great place to play board games or card games with your family in the evenings, and fish, swim and kayak all day. Take fun day trips to Portland Ocean Front, the outlet stores in Conway New Hampshire, take a boat out or just read a good book. Caretaker on call.
