Why Don Ward chose Wears Valley
We take a family vacation each year. In June 1998 we visited the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area for the first time. During our vacation we fell in love with Wears Valley which is 4 miles from Pigeon Forge. Cindy and I liked the area so much that we purchased land to build a cabin on during our vacation that year.
We prefer to custom build our own cabins because we enjoy being 'hands on' and feel like we can offer a better product for our guests rather than buying a 'spec' cabin from a developer. For example: we have a thermostat on each of the 3 levels, ceiling fans throughout the cabin, 3 decks, all wood construction to give you the true cabin feel, built in hair dryers and magnifying makeup mirrors in each bathroom, and a wall of glass to enjoy the spectacular mountain view on each of the 3 levels of the cabin.
The location of this cabin is in a semi- secluded area where you have much privacy but it is just minutes from Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. PARK VIEW is located in Dogwood Farms, a gated development with large lots and paved roads, which has a Spectacular View overlooking beautiful Wears Valley and layered Mountain Views of the Smoky Mountain National Park. There are 3 cabins near our cabin with the closest cabin 40 yards away, 2nd cabin is 75 yards away, which are blocked by the leaves on the trees. You do not see any cabins looking out at our Spectacular View. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited National Park of all the National Parks, over 12 million visitors each year. There are so many things to do in Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg: Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, Music Theatres, Outlet Malls, Bass Pro Shop, Restaurants, Snow Skiing, Hiking, Tubing, Fishing, or just riding around taking it all in.
What makes this cabin unique
PARK VIEW has 3 Levels, on each Level is a full Bath, the bottom level has 2 Bedrooms with a shared bath in between. The Loft has a Master Suite with a King Bed and the Master Bathroom has a romantic 2 person Jacuzzi Tub with a view of the beautiful Wears Valley and the Great Smoky Mountains.
A Deck is located on each of the 3 Levels of our Cabin. Wooden Rocking Chairs on each Deck are the perfect way to enjoy an early morning cup of coffee and mother nature's beauty.
Each Bedroom has a King Bed with Plush Pillow Top Mattress. Our Pillow Top Mattresses are as comfortable as you will find in any 4 or 5 star hotel.
We have a Home Theater Room with 6 Theater Chairs, 60 inch Plasma TV, Blu-ray DVD Player, 5.1 Surround Sound System, Free Netflix movies can be downloaded through our Blu-ray DVD Player, and DirecTV High Definition Programming to watch your favorite movie or sporting event. Also a 52 inch HDTV with DirecTV High Definition Programming and DVD Player is located in the Den. During football season we have NFL Sunday Ticket and ESPN College Game Plan to choose from.
If you need to work or just surf the internet we have High Speed WiFi.
A Stacked Stone Gas Fireplace is located in the Den. Our Kitchen is fully equipped if you don't want to go out.
The lower Level has a Game Room with a 8' Pool Table and Multicade Arcade Machine with 60 different Video Games to play. The Deck on this level features a 5-6 person Hot Tub.
Guestbook comments from the owner
1st time in this cabin, but have been to the area many, many times – 6 adults, a 9 yr. old girl, and an 18 mos. old girl. Since we spend so much of our time outdoors, this was a very conveniently located place to stay. We attend King’s Branch Rd. Church of Christ (across from the Gatlinburg Welcome Center), and it was close enough to be easy to come back to the cabin to change clothes before going back to Pigeon Forge/Sevierville to shop. We prefer Tanger Five Oaks because it has a good mix of “regular” and “outlet” Stores, but if you have little ones to buy for, go to Pigeon Forge Outlet Mall (the one with the red roofs – used to be Z. Buda’s) and visit the Carter’s Store, which is a true bargain outlet!
There is a nice shortcut to the National Park – Lyon Springs Rd. which takes you to Metcalf Bottoms, a nice place to picnic, play in the water, and take an easy hike to an old school building with a historic cemetery. You can’t take a stroller, but it’s neither long nor strenuous.
Leaving Metcalf Bottoms, you can take a left to go to Laurel Falls, Sugarland Visitor Center, and on to Newfound Gap, Clingman’s Dome, etc. Take a right to go to the Townsend “Wye”, Tremont, and Cade’s Cove.
We ALWAYS go to Cade’s Cove, any time of year, day of the week, or time of the day. You can drive the whole loop or park at the camp store area and ride bicycles. From spring to fall, car traffic is banned on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from dawn till 10 a.m. to make it safer for bicycles and walkers. You can also park at the stable area and ride horses, or take a hay ride through the cove. Any way is a good way, just GO! (although the best time to see wildlife is early in the morning or close to dusk).
During the 2 times we went to Cade’s Cove this week, we saw several turkeys, a herd of horses (from the stables, not wild, but still enjoyable to watch), three bears, (no – really! Haha) and over 50 deer. There are mostly does on the first half, and some BIG bucks on the second half of the loop. But please be nice and use the poll-offs when you spot wildlife, because the Cove is popular and the loop is one-way, so one inconsiderate dolt can back up traffic really badly. And please be SMART and don’t get too close to even sweet-looking does, because they WILL defend themselves and their young with hard kicks and sharp hooves.
Since we had the
