Casa Coco Loco is a vacation home in Bocas del Toro, Panama. It is a great alternative to a hotel or a resort, offering more privacy, space, and comfort than you will find at a resort or hotel. Traveling to Bocas del Toro, an island archipelago paradise for boating, diving, snorkeling, surfing, and much, much more is easy. One can fly from Panama City or San Jose, Costa Rica, arriving in Bocas in less than an hour from either city.
Casa Coco Loco is located on Isla Carenero, a small island in hurricane free, protected waters near open ocean just off the Panamanian coast in the Caribbean, and close to the Costa Rica border. We are three minutes away by water taxi from Isla Colon and the town of Bocas del Toro. Bocas del Toro is fast becoming known as a favorite vacation travel destination for its unspoiled natural beauty, pristine warm safe waters and wonderful people.
If you are considering traveling to Panama or Costa Rica, Bocas del Toro is an ideal location from which you can easily explore both. But once you settle into a hammock at Casa Coco Loco, you may never want to leave! So if you think you might prefer the comfort, space, privacy, and more reasonable rates of a vacation rental house near all the activities instead of a hotel in Bocas town or a remote resort, we invite you to take a look at Casa Coco Loco. There are very few homes of this quality for rent in Bocas del Toro, Panama. There are two bedrooms and two baths upstairs. The third bedroom downstairs has a separate entrance and an outdoor bath.
Unfortunately, the decks surrounding the house are not child-proof so it is not appropriate for very young children.

We are a retired doctor and psychotherapist. We live in the San Francisco Bay area and try to be in Bocas del Toro 2-4 months of the year.

We love the tropics and looked in Mexico and Central America for a longtime. We fell in love on our first visit to Bocas. The friendly eclectic community, sunny days, amazing sunsets, easy use of the clean warm waters make it a unique location.
Sometimes referred to as 'the Venice of Central America', the Bocas archipelago is a water lover's dream There are roads only on one island (Colon, with the town of Bocas Del Toro), all other transportation is by cayuco (dugout canoes), pangas, water taxis, assorted outboards, and sailing vessels. Swimming, snorkeling, and diving in the warm clear waters is a joy. Casa Coco on Isla Carenero is unique, being so close to Bocas town with its wonderful restaurants and touring opportunities, but away from the crowds. For surfers, one of the best breaks is a 10 minute walk across the island.
Just a short note to let you know how wonderful our stay at
CCL was. It was our first introduction to Panama and a very memorable one. Your house is lovely. We used the kayaks often and did a lot of hiking around the Island. We tried paddle boarding, saw a sloth, collected beach glass at Hospital Point, ate fresh lobster, learned some spanish and partoook in the festival. Had a great day trip with captain Stoi to Coral Cayo where we snorkelled seeing the most beautiful coral ever.
First, Bocas was gorgeous. Clear water, beautiful beaches (especially zapatillas), unique wildlife, and nice people. A really great place for 20-50 year olds for adventure, warm ocean swimming, and great bars and clubs at night.
The house was one of the nicer that I saw in the area, but it's still an island house. Hot water is inconsistent, no A/C, and the gaps in the windows give the geckos & insects free reign. Be sure to bring bug spray and be sure to sleep under the mosquito nets, and be prepared to be bitten regardless.
If you can get past those things though, this place is an awesome vacation home base. Water taxis pick you up at the dock and all of the captains know where this place is, so it's easy to get home. It's a dollar taxi/person to the main island, and where most bars/restaurants are. I think the best restaurant is walking distance though, the cosmic crab.
The house has snorkel equipment, laundry, kitchen, kayaks, and everything you need to have an amazing time. The management company is very friendly and available, and mostly American or European for easy communication.
All in all, I definitely recommend this place for a family/group. Maybe wear pants and long sleeves at night, but the mild itch of the bites is worth the beauty and relaxed pace of this place.
If you make it to Bocas Del Toro, the Casa coco loco is the place to stay. The location is great with a short water taxi ride from the town and ample super markets and bars. The cosmic crab is an easy walk up the beach and serves great fresh dinners and a hospitality that is missing in our everyday lives. The house has everything you need.....including a Jon and Anne who look after you and are on call to help. Thanks a great stay!
Dear Rob & Kai,
Thank you SO much for the wonderful time we had at Casa Coco Loco. I was recently down there with two lifelong buddies on a surf trip and it was phenomenal. It was an easy 5 minute walk across the island to the point break, and water taxis were easy to grab from the dock for the other breaks. Post surf siestas in the hammock were as good as it gets.
The surf was good almost the whole time, and the two small days were full of adventure. Scooter rentals on the big island, an awesome hike over to Red Frog Beach, and beer fueled dart tournaments in one of the local watering holes.
The staff was great, the neighbors were wonderful, and the house was perfect.
I'm sure we will come back with the families.
Dear Rob and Kai,
As you know, this was my 3rd visit to Casa Coco Loco. Our most recent visit was another surf trip with two friends. Before that, a family trip with my wife and two kids. We absolutely love it there.
This last trip we found the new path to the point break which makes life so easy. A short walk and we are in the water. We surfed some new spots in the area, rented scooters for the day on Isla Colon and explored the coast roads over there, played a lot of games and logged some serious hammock time on the decks overlooking the water.
Thanks again for such a great trip and I am looking forward to the next.
