Villa Nirvana is a beautiful villa set in the hills of the private Santi Thani Estate. The villa has been cleverly designed to incorporate a wealth of advantages including light, airy rooms, cool dispersal of breezes throughout the house, stunning views over the Gulf of Siam, plenty of different areas for people to sit and relax and a general feeling of ease.
It is a very welcoming villa and is extremely popular with people who have visited in the past, as can be witnessed from the many enthusiastic 'write ups' in the guest books. There are stunning unspoilt beaches minutes away from the villa by car. On these beaches there are several restaurants serving both delicious Thai and International food.
There are also food and clothes shops, open markets and supermarkets within 10 minutes of the villa.
Whether you are looking for a quiet 'chill out' holiday, romance or sporting fun, you will find that the villa supports your mood and is always a welcome home to walk into.
Restaurants: There are many excellent Restaurants on the island from the cuisine of hotels and sophisticated continental restaurants to the many smaller restaurants and the Thai restaurants. Just at the bottom of the hill you will find several beach restaurants serving both International and Thai food. These are excellent for breakfast, lunch or dinner or will serve you with take away food if you just want to chill out at home.
In the small town of Maenam there are Italian Restaurants as well as Thai Restaurants on the Beach.
In the villa you will find Restaurant guides, but if you don't want to go far you can go to the fisherman's village of Bophut 12 minutes away where you will find a wonderful selection of restaurants and bars, some with live music and most stay open until the early hours.
Golf /Tennis/Activities: Golf.
The Santiburi golf club is a challenging 72 par course. It is about 10 minutes away from the villa. You can play 'twilight' there after 3.00pm for a reduced rate. It is worth getting there early enough for a beer and a club sandwich in the impressive clubhouse and then hitting practice balls before your tee off time. Also it is certainly worth doing a bit of putting on the practice green. The greens are like quicksilver and hard to read! You can hire clubs.
The Santiburi Hotel has floodlit Tennis Courts and you can book these. We like to play early in the morning, but have played in the evenings and then used their smart changing rooms for showers and gone on out for the evening. You can hire rackets and balls.
The Zazen Hotel just past Maenam has windsurfers for hire, as do several of the Hotels locally and in the Town of Chaweng.
Spas, Massage and Yoga: There are many excellent Spas on the island.
Several of the smaller boutique spas are also worth a visit, and we can arrange massage for you at the villa.
There are several Thai massage spas in Maenam (less than ten minutes away from the villa) and you will find information about these at the villa. In many of these you can also get manicures, pedicures and beauty treatments. There are also two well know Spas within four minutes of the villa, one of which we have discount arrangements for Villa Nirvana Guests.
We are a family of six with four grandchildren.
We live in Somerset in South West England in the country.
We play golf and spend alot of time trying to get to grips with our garden!
We try to get out to the villa twice a year but normally only go once a year in February/ March.
The kids all try to get out there as often as they can as do friends.
Julia Skinner purchased this villa in 2005
Quite simply, we went on holiday to Koh Samui to meet our daughter in her gap year, and we fell in love with the island.
I looked up properties for sale when I got home and it went from there!
I flew out for three days to see propertioes, but as soon as I saw Villa Nirvana, I knew it was the one for us.
The villa has fabulous views and is incredibly peaceful. Guests all comment on how much they love the villa and how it is impossible not to completely unwind there.
There is a lovely sense of space and calm at the villa. In fact several guests have said that the only problem they had there was dragging themselves away from the vila to see other parts of the island!

We stayed with our two year old son three weeks in this beautiful villa according to photos. It is very well located, quiet. The garden is very beautiful, clean. There are no mosquitoes. We highly recommend this villa which has no disadvantages but only advantages.
We stayed at Villa Nirvana for almost two weeks in early January and loved every minute of it! Julia was exceptionally wonderful to correspond with, the house was absolutely lovely and comfortable, and the house manager was very sweet and helpful and became an instant friend. We hired the chefs several times and really enjoyed the delicious Thai food they cooked, but our children thought the pool was the best part. The property is far enough away from the hubbub to feel extremely peaceful, but close enough to easily go for a day or an evening out. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer!
Visit August 2008
As part of a family holiday cum wedding trip we had the fortunate experience to stay in this delightful villa. We had been in Bangkok for a few days so it proved a welcome respite from the bustle of the big 'city'.
The villa itself is in a superb position. Very quiet spot but with fantastic far reaching views. Internally the rooms are spacious and airy, providing everything you need for ease and comfort. Outside there is an impressive infinity pool with jacuzzi and large relaxing patio area. All surrounded by well kept landscaped gardens.
Nearby is the town of Nathon for shopping including a Tesco - you can even get clubcard points !. There are local restaurants within easy reach too. We also used the services of Poo for deliveries to the villa. Certainly service with a smile !.
We must mention Emma, the manageress, who proved to be excellent with her help and advice. Much appreciated.
All in all - a wonderful villa in a wonderful setting.
Thank you so much Julia and Richard.

Villa Nirvana 22 Feb – 29 Feb 2008
We stayed at Villa Nirvana for a week in Feb 2008. I really would just echo all the other glowing comments left by other guests! The villa is absolutely beautiful, everything you could possibly need has been thought of and is there, down to hairdryer and slippers!
Richard and Julia you have done yourselves proud! There is heaps of information for guests on the island and loads of recommendations of restaurants, and tours and things. We listened to the advice, and we can consequently add our praise to Sunshine Gourmet (Poo is so sweet!), the Ocean Lounge, the little Italian place on the main road through Maenam (I can’t remember its name but there are a couple of business cards for it in the info folder!), and if you want a posh night out Villa Bianca in Fishermans Village is beautiful and they have a very extensive cocktail menu!
I loved Fishermans Village, we went back there for a walk most days – even in the rain, which we had an awful lot of for the time of year! It didn’t stop us seeing the island though, we just pottered around in our little car – you can drive all the way round the island stopping off in towns and going off up little lanes in an afternoon!
We didn’t do any tours as such, we went ourselves to see the Big Buddah, and took ourselves to the towns and beaches. We did loads of shopping, and bartered like mad – I think Dan increased his wardrobe twice over! Dan went fishing, and had a great day (even with the sunburn he came back with) – he just went to Fishermans Village and used a little tour operator there just to the right of the lifeboat pier as you get to the main street.
The wildlife around the villa made me laugh – the little ghekos that came into the kitchen every night were cute, with their little clicking noises at each other as they got territorial over the ceiling… and the bigger ones outside freaked Dan out with their much louder noises!
The staff that tend to the villa are great – they smile and bow, and make you feel like royalty as they sweep and clean, and leave flowers on the bed for you.
Overall, a beautiful island, beautiful people and a fabulous place to stay. We will recommend Villa Nirvana to friends looking for a wonderful place to base themselves in order to experience Koh Samui fully. The temptation with all inclusive resorts is just to stay there the whole time – this way you make yourselves leave, and explore!

The town of Nathon is ten minutes drive from the house where you can go to local markets and find clothes shops, arts and crafts stores as well as chemists and a Tesco store.
Ten minutes in the opposite direction there is the small town of Maenam where there are many restaurants and small shops as well as the Maenam beach on which there are plenty of bars and restaurants. There are also fresh food markets here as well as small supermarkets where you can buy most essentials.
The nearest night spot to the villa is the fisherman’s village of Bophut (15 minutes drive) which is full of bars, restaurants and shops. Bohput stays open until the early hours.
The Santiburi Golf Course is under 10 minutes away as is the Santiburi Hotel where you can play tennis and shower before having a cocktail on the beach.
In the villa you will find information about all the things you can do and see as well as restaurants and previous guest’s tips for a good holiday in the guest book
